I frankly got a shock when I 1st heard the preview of Tokei Jikake no Umbrella

it sounds like nothing on what they have ever done before *not counting truth in here

in a way or 2 , while I'm happy that My Girl's NOT a double A-side single , I'm sad that Tokei Jikake no Umbrella will not be included in their new album :( & even getting a PV sigh

^ It better at least get some tv performances or something cause from what I'm hearing this is their best track this year.

I'm sure that more live performances will emphasis on My Girl a lot more than the B-side

they never really perform B-sides of their tunes live on TV , except the FINAL remix with regards to Hana Yori Dango Final movie promo which's unfortunate

^ Season though at least got one tv performance. I just can't imagine letting this song go to waste - it's perfect to choreograph for.

ohh, i know TV asahi is probably one of the biggest networks, but i just assumed it's not really "big" with dramas, since i never really see such high ratings and stuff. i'm so uninformed, i'm sorry :weep :laugh

and yea, i'm enjoying LIAR GAME! up to episode 3 now, lol. but i dunno, season got a performance like..4 months later until it got released on a CD, so i dunno if clockwork umbrella will have a performance, too, BUT IT BETTER! i'm so frustrated that it's not the a-side. :(

Tokei Jikake no Umbrella - yeah it's the B-side of My Girl which in this case , from the sound of the preview , everyone's going bonkers over Tokei Jikake no Umbrella a lot more than My Girl xD

you know, i was thinking about this all day during class (you think i actually pay attention? :rolleyes :laugh) and i think it's really strange that JE would make "my girl" the a-side over "clockwork umbrella". i specifically remember something that SunshineSlayer posted, about how arashi's singles have been "safe" this year. now i think it could actually true, because maybe JE thinks the audience wouldn't have recieved "clockwork umbrella" that great, since it's so different and all. and since the mid-tempo ballad-ish songs got pretty well sales this year, the safe decision is to leave that type of song as an a-side, and save the best track for the b-side. i dunno, this has bothered me ALL DAY. i still can't believe how JE can let this song be second. i still love "my girl", but come on! i shouldn't compare 2 different songs, but "clockwork umbrella" could have had an AMAZING (or even not amazing, at least it's something) PV and TV performances. it's so aggravating :dead2 i mean, "truth" was different for the boys and that's the #1 single of 2008, so it could have gotten both ways, really. i just don't understand why JE is like this. i assume it's johnny's decision for the songs, right? i dunno if arashi get that much control over what they want as the main track or not. :shrug

I like to be a fly on the wall on J Storm's office & see exactly what happens behind the scenes since I'm interested in these sorta stuff (hey maybe 1 day I will end up working in the music industry instead of the corporate world after I graduate LOL)

maybe Johnny-san also knows that after the guys have put out 2 DOUBLE A-side singles this year , doing a 3rd double A-side release this year will be @_@

The Sakurap part is to die for - even if it does feel like a totally different song (like his rap in believe too), but its like a great song within another great song this time. Popular group Arashi will be doing a collaboration with Nihon TV, from the 25th to Nov 1st, it will extend over 8 days, with Arashi appearing in various tv shows, called 『嵐CHALLENGE★week』. To bring it to a finish, on the 1st, they will broadcast a live special titled "Congrats on 10 years!! Tonight, Arashi will create a sensation... Odoroki no Arashi era's big experiment!! Scholars also predict impossible SP & it's called a miracle experiment life!!(7pm) On the 22nd from the same bureau it was announced an unprecidented "Flying through the air stage" live will commence. This live experiment was commented on with a touch of uneasiness by Sakurai Sho who is said to have a fear of heights. "Honestly, I don't really want to do it. That is.. safety... so we don't fly off somewhere... right now I'm thinking it'll end in failure instead of success."

The experiment will have a helium gas balloon that is 9.6m in length, and a 13.6m width, and Arashi will ride on top, and as the song starts, they will float up, and from about 13 meters above ground they will perform.

In previous concerts, they have used wire, and performing from the air was their own special thing, but this time the "Sky Stage" is a first for them. Matsumoto Jun said, "Lately, we've flown a lot (laughs), but a stage flying in the air is a first. I can't even begin to imagine what kind of stage it will be, but I'm looking forward to it!" Ohno Satoshi also said, "We haven't sung on something like the "Sky Stage", so I'm simply happy! Please watch us sing and float in the air!" so look forward to the date the experiment will be aired.

The "Sky Stage"'s height is no less than 13 meters, so they don't fly off, a rope will be tied to it to ensure their safety but even then the fear is inmeasurable. Ninomiya had this to say with a smile to his fans, "We also don't know how it will go, but at this point we will go on with it. (laugh) Everyone in front of the TV, please pray that we can sing safely.

Furthermore, Arashi is challenging this special program to have a 3D broadcast where the figures pop out. When the audience puts on 3D glasses, they will be able to see the members performance in 3D, and show a strong performance. Ahh I see that in the 15.4% episode of Himitsu no Arashi, the guest was Sanma. That explains the huge jump in the ratings - that's probably the most high profile guest they have ever had.

I was also thinking about "The Quiz Show", but kept my post short. lol And perhaps "Ryuusei no Kizuna"? I haven't seen either, but just reading about them both seem quite serious. I guess people will agree that something like "Jidai" wouldn't have been fitting for "Hana yori Dango" or "MY GIRL", but something edgier would have fit the formerly mentioned dramas.

^ I love it. It has a very untraditional structure to it so it is kind of unique as a pop song. It ended up being shorter than I expected though.

I think the chorus is a little weak. Would be better if it kept the feeling of the verses. But nevertheless it's a really good song. ^^

ahhh, finally. "Tokei Jikake no Umbrella" is the song i've been waiting for a while from the guys. it's just so refreshing! :) i think the only flaw in it is the transition to sakurap. the flow to it could've been better, but otherwise, perfect song. i actually want to repeat this song for enjoyment, not because i need to remember what it sounds like. LOL.

if it was longer, i think it'd just drag on and be repetitive. plus, i'm not that surprised it's so short because it's just a b-side, and the drama it's for is only like..4 episodes? i dunno the exact number, but it's a mini-drama, lol. so the short-ness of it makes sense in my way of thinking...:tipsy i still love it!

That's what I thought too, mainly because the Sakurap comes so early in the song. Like I said, its an abnormal structure for them - Sakurap takes up basically the whole middle section. But I like that it has such a different structure though. :)
