Ah, great! Thanks for those.

waterballoon 23rd October 2009 09:07 AM

omg Rule looks intense and I REALLY love the long left bangs she's having in that segment too... rollin'/Sparkle's outfit and wig is ridiculous, like eew ttm! Everything else looks really great though... I can't wait for this!

ayumisrael 23rd October 2009 09:57 AM

Awesome!!! I really can't wait to see it. >_<

Thats what I thought before I saw the concert, but when I was there in person, it doesn't look THAT bad. It kinda works with the weird song/choregraphy too...

majrakun 23rd October 2009 01:08 PM

I like how her bangs here, they don't look as..I unno how to say it, not as bad as the early pictures. :D

se7entheaven 23rd October 2009 01:20 PM

OMFG!!! So this year they emphasize on the screens and lights. oooh

Amen to that one. It looked weird yes, but if fit REALLY well with the two songs itself actually. rollin` was indeed (like all the other reviews says) the song that got reaaaally good response from the audience from the new album songs. You all (lol most of you anyway) will LOVE the choregraphy of rollin` really. Its soooooo funny. Everyone just kept laughting at her, making such a fool of the whole performance kind of. I think I never seen Ayu giving so much of herself, just having fun and beeing silly, before. Its simly great.

Suteisi 23rd October 2009 02:19 PM

Suteisi 23rd October 2009 03:06 PM

It makes me cry to think about it T____T

Lol, I want to go back and see it again!

Mai82Go 23rd October 2009 03:20 PM

@MissElin&Neffiline
That really sounds like you had a good time. I like NEXT LEVEL (the album) so I think I will like the tour, too. It's good to read positive stuff about Ayu Concerts by people who actually went there. I don't think Ayu is perfect at all, but all these negativity here bugs me. So I'm happy to read posts by people that had *gasp* fun at an Ayu Concert!

although her voice in "NEXT LEVEL" sounded really weak :(

her voice sounds very good in the clips!! :)
i'm already loving this year tour

why so long until 29th november? :(

aura~ 23rd October 2009 04:32 PM

*-* I want to see this tour!!! noow!!! i think I'm gonna love the Sparkle performance!!!

Meat Pao 23rd October 2009 04:35 PM

I like how the Sparkle performance is sounding, and her vocals on NEXT LEVEL were better than I had expected xD

Crystal_Ageha 23rd October 2009 04:46 PM

I just realised, I don't really like how she sings Rule live... (And God, I've always disliked how she sings evolution. But in her defence, that is a super-hard song to pull off live. >.<) Sparkle sounds awesome, though. *.* I have very high hopes..

TITANIC 23rd October 2009 04:48 PM

NExt LEVEL will be her best tour in vocally

zyoeru 23rd October 2009 05:05 PM

Her vocals are going to be okay, but not the best, vocally the best was MY STORY's tour imo. :P

waterballoon 23rd October 2009 05:07 PM

omg Sparkle was :heart, the choreography was great imo, and she sounds so good! My only peeve was the NEXT LEVEL "dance"... she could just be alone on the stage. ^^

do it again 23rd October 2009 05:10 PM

this tour looks pretty good! i like the majority of her outfits and i'm glad her bangs grew out a little, she looks much better. i really hope my opinion of the rollin' / Sparkle outfit will change because now it just looks ugly and stupid to me, but a lot of people said that it fits right into the songs so maybe it won't be bad at all. :) she sounded good, too! i doubt they'll show the interlude movies on the broadcast though :( i wanna see the mario one!

AyuGAME 23rd October 2009 05:19 PM

Rule definitely the most spectacular performance, and overall she sounded really good, usually what we hear from tv preview is not edited...so she really did a great job on this tour. but this tour has the most simple decoration that she has done, but because the stage is so clean, it make the stage is so HUGE...
can't wait to watch this

Corvina 23rd October 2009 05:24 PM

Can't wait to watch this on DVD!

But Next Level sounds bad, really, really bad...oh Ayu.

LOL @ the dreadful editing of her concert footage! xD;

Crystal_Ageha 23rd October 2009 06:18 PM

I honestly don't think this will be in her top best concerts, vocally. She's starting to scream a lot the past year, in nearly every song, for some reason. -___- But the actual performances look as though they may be some of her best.

She's half deaf :P

Evolution7/4 23rd October 2009 06:25 PM

The lighting and colors look AMAZING> I know im gonna love this tour. And even though she was playing along with playback (it sounded like it, but definitely not just playback) she seemed to be singing originally evolution in the higher pitch it was sung in! Last years tour was good, but there was something, i don't know, claustrophobic about it? This one just seems like such a cool new and original looking tour. Can't wait for DVD.

aloopy 23rd October 2009 06:26 PM

waaaay too many dancers on stage. looks messy.

noidea 23rd October 2009 06:31 PM

great visuals it seems, but her voice is really horrible, from this it seems like her worst tour vocally since....AT02, so much screaming, so many off notes...at least theres not much playback in this tour

It seems that people tend to forget that fact. It's not going to get better, vocally. At least I don't think it will. So she goes into scream mode. Which is why I don't mind lipsynching that much. And on the DVD we get the modified version anyway ;).

But, she looks so cute! :luv2 Those bangs....wee. Really, she looks just happy, which makes me happy.

noidea 23rd October 2009 08:11 PM

^ With vocal lessons it would be no problem at all to get better again, but to me it seems like she doesn't take them or does not regularly take them. With only one ear you can sing just as good, you just need to learn it partly again

Last year's HANABI (and End roll) performance had as much screaming as does the Days this year (at least they had before the editing) :( the editing helps a bit, but imo HANABI was far from her best even on DVD I don't know why she seems to get into it way too much and doesn't even control her self and we all know she can handle Days really well.

GRACE 23rd October 2009 08:50 PM

wow her voice sounds good in Sparkle ._.

I hope that's part of the TV version <3

labello 23rd October 2009 08:51 PM

Sparkle sounds really awesome!!!
I can't wait to see the concert:yes

I don't think she'll get better vocally.
AT05 was the best tour vocal vise in my opinion and now that she is half deaf I don't think she'll get better~

ayumisrael 23rd October 2009 08:59 PM

I think that the "problem" is that a lot of people might not like her singing nowadays because she sings on lower keys a lot of parts from songs that should be sang higher pitched. She does goes off pitch (mainly lower) here and there but still from those vids there were just small parts in 3 songs where she went off key to a lower one but still she sang well in most of this video. Just in her singing of nowadays.
She still can be great vocally (as she was in many songs on PCDL 08-09 and almost all of a-nation '09).

JackieRos 23rd October 2009 09:30 PM

from what im seeing im not going to like this concert
i dont mind her vocals they are very good

we will just have to see until the concert dvd is out
but she looks amazing as always

noidea 23rd October 2009 09:34 PM

^
^
a-nation '09 was heavily and obviously edited, more than many DVDs, I think you can't really count that one, but it wasn't only for Ayu, most artists sounded pretty fishy, it was worst for Kuu

but I agree with the first part of your post, especially because I like her singing the songs lower more xD I hate voices that are highpitched all the way through, prefer people that stay low for the most part and go high for some short parts or single notes only

emikoishida 23rd October 2009 09:57 PM

Yeah, her voice is getting worse. But, let's remember, in the tour DVD, no doubt, her vocals will be a little edited.

I actually love~ her lower voice. It's why I prefer her recent singing to the beginning of her career. Even if she screams every note for the rest of her career, it's still better than the squeaking of A Song for XX, lol. >.>'

If the screaming is from being partially deaf (which it definitely could be), lessons - or more specifically, training - would definitely help. A teacher guiding her to practice her pitch and become much more familiar with the notes would assure her accuracy without the need to scream. Of course, she won't be able to ever sing again as if she still had 100% hearing, but she could get to the point where really only she would notice her loss of hearing.

Do they offer vocals lessons where thousands of fans scream in the background and the music is played at extremely loud volumes? ;)
Kidding. I dont particularly think her voice is that bad and its certainly gotten better since 2008.
theres no doubting her TV lives (like for Music Station and such) are better than her arena tours, because there isnt as much noise and she isnt singing song after song.

I thought it also sounded pretty off-tune in parts of Days. Also Sparkle seems to - at the very least - have a very strong backing track going on. Evolution sounded quite a bit better than usual though.

That is true. I mentioned this before but, none of the artists in the A-Nation broadcast sounded even remotely like what they did in the tv news clips. It's obvious that Avex did their damndest to get everyone sounding as good as possible - afterall, A-Nation is a promotional tool for their company so they want everyone to sound as good as they can.

But I feel that her lower voice was way, way stronger in 03-05. Her vocals were pure love for me in that period. :)

Actually I've thought her tv lives have mostly been terrible lately. It seems she actually sings better in her tours overall - maybe because she has more time to get her voice warmed up to singing whereas with tv performances its just a one shot type of thing.

As for the vocal lessons thing - yes. :) For artists at her level, I'm sure teachers teach with the loud volume of concerts in mind. Heck even heavy metal singers often take vocal lessons and their environment is sonically louder than Ayu's is usually. There are a number of examples of singers who have hearing problems (usually rock singers) that have found ways to get around it. Even Brian Wilson, the main singer of the Beach Boys was completely deaf in one ear yet learned to sing in tune nearly all of the time. It's definitely not something that is impossible. It at least appears to me that she simply hasn't taken the time out to do it or if she has, she isn't following what the teacher says or she needs a new one. :)

Polyrhythm 24th October 2009 12:29 AM

ia. i do think she has improved, especially from last year. and i remember her saying in her diary entries that most of the time she can't even hear herself at all when she's on stage now, which could explain the shouting.

Yeah, I really loved her voice around '04 to '06...

Andrenekoi 24th October 2009 12:50 AM

Well... vocal lessons would really help... but is not like... starting it today and singing flawlessly on the next week, those stuff take some time... it seens worst cuz it affected her voice for 2 tours... but she has one tour a year, while the usual for most singers would be a tour and 2, 3 years without touring...

Still, her voice is getting better compared to last year...

There is some performances where it has been highly suspected, maybe even confirmed.

But in this one it sounds just like a backing track to me so that she is more free to do the "woah yeah" parts.

Andrenekoi 24th October 2009 12:54 AM

if that's true, that would totally explain the shouting >_<
singing without listening to yourself is 100% chance of disaster @_@

SunshineSlayer 24th October 2009 12:55 AM

^ She should at least have an in ear monitors though.(it appears that she does) Plus I don't really remember that statement or it could be a mistranslation as often happens with her crazy diary entries. :)

truehappiness 24th October 2009 01:04 AM

I don't think her TV lives have ever been better than her tour lives. There are only a handful of TV lives that really demonstrate good vocals imo. I feel a bit bad for Ayu since almost every time she sounds good, someone comes in to say that it's probably been edited/backing track'd up the wazoo.

love in music 24th October 2009 01:07 AM

i actually think her TV lives are better than her tour/concert lives 99% of the time, lol.

Well, because there is an obvious difference in the sound. And I thought it was pretty much agreed upon that A-Nation was indeed edited up the wazoo (:)) for every performer.

But yeah, in no way do I think her recent tv performances are better than her tour performances. Most of the performances of Sunrise, Mirrorcle World etc, were cringe worthy for me. In the past though, she did indeed have some amazing tv lives.

love in music 24th October 2009 01:22 AM

hmm for me her TV lives are better vocally, i guess because she only has to focus on one or two performances a day and not a whole show.
the Days TV lives all last year i thought were a lot better than the one at PCDL (and now the one at NL tour)

SunshineSlayer 24th October 2009 01:32 AM

^ Days I would consider the one exception actually, so I agree with you there.

truehappiness 24th October 2009 11:50 AM

In a way, this concert reminds me of a bit of AT03-04. It was basically a CDL+AT, and this tour had a bit of the PCDL injected into it (song choice/costumes) along with having a much simpler 'vision' than her previous tours after AT03-04. There wasn't as much glitz/glamour either, though you could say that the NWTS dress was big, but other than that, they were both relatively tame tours compared to the ones that came before.

Perhaps we could expect the 2010 tour to sort of reinvent her concerts like AT05 after AT03-04 did? -prays- Haha.

Not~Yet 24th October 2009 12:12 PM

I am so in love with that silver glitter jacket+shorts+hair extension outfit... Gorgeous :heart Imo she sounds great in the clips :P I'm really excited for this tour too, even if it doesn't have any huge hooks like AT08 it sure seems to be filled with great energy. And points for Ayu for not having many exaggerated facial moments (apparently) :P

Evolution7/4 24th October 2009 03:05 PM

Togetehr When's were also REALLY good, the occasionaly bad one but theres one performance that calls back the best performances of Dearest, and yes definitely Days.

Aww, those videos :') I'm constantly thinking about the opening to Rule, and watching those videos definitely brings back memories from going to the two Tokyo concerts in June... the sound was a bit choppy (it's YouTube videos from news broadcasts, I don't expect anything but a bit off), but it's okay.

freedreamer 24th October 2009 03:56 PM

LOl are new debates starting already. O well...i bet its gonna go on EVERY live..EVERY concert...

The video quality in all the youtube videos were so bad. For me, it made her sound really flat in Rule..but still strong. Sparkle sounds dang good!!! I love how fun the tour really looks. and the highlight for this year's tour is really the stage and screens...LOOKS AMAZING!

This, comparing her tv lives and concerts(sometimes even of the same day) I usually prefer the concerts, they are just quite a bit better, most obvious when singing the same songs(compare Mirrorcle World off Kouhaku and PCDL, both were far from perfect but even though it was like...the 20th song in the concert I think she pulled the song of 10x better in PCDL, and I think we can be sure that both are not playback and she probably was on stronger painkillers in the concerts/took a new dose)

I don't think that would be that much of a far shot. I mean, she went to Vegas and got what she called "entertainment inspiration" or something, like they ran out of ideas.

Still, it would require them to give up the skeleton they've been using since AT05, it can only be changed in so many ways, though they did a pretty good job with this years tour.

Those bangs really look good on Ayu. But I'm kind of curious what hairstyle will be next - maybe she'll dye them for the new single.:luv2

The best Outfit really is that glittery one. :yes

noidea 24th October 2009 09:43 PM

I think she wrote that she wants to dye them black after the tour...which is...NOW

zoomzoom 24th October 2009 09:48 PM

She didn't really say that, just that when she posted the NYC pictures, people thought at first she had dyed it, and she then explained she can't change her hair in the middle of a tour.

noidea 24th October 2009 09:55 PM

Oh, sorry, got it wrong then, probably because I hoped she would do so xD Black hair would fit an all-ballad single really well

zoomzoom 24th October 2009 09:56 PM

There's always a chance, since she mentioned not being able to change her because of the tour, it kinda sounds like she really wants to, lol. Who knows to what though.

Picaflor 7/4 24th October 2009 10:00 PM

I want either pencil straight really long black hair like for sparkle and like the live performance of I am... or chocolate brown hair with bangs like in the ladies night pv. those were imo the best hair styles to date.

Not~Yet 24th October 2009 11:11 PM

I think it would be cool if she tried the black and curly/wavy hairstyle for once.. Also, the INSPIRE cover hairstyle is really beautiful imo.

Picaflor 7/4 25th October 2009 01:17 AM

jesus christ, I can't believe that's ayumi, she looks like she could be in high school. she looks so young!!!

Evolution7/4 25th October 2009 05:21 AM

I agree really dark drown and black are her best. Whats great is that she looks great inb londe since its not naturally Asian and yet when she does a naturally Asian color she looks even more stunning since its uncommon for her.

AyumiBest 25th October 2009 07:28 AM

Wow! She looks young in those pics.
I really hope she dyes her hair black. :D

Bigtop 25th October 2009 07:34 AM

Did she really say that she want to dye her hair black again? I'm kind of not sure, but that would be really interesting...

zyoeru 25th October 2009 07:35 AM

^ Yeah, she did! :P

Corvina 25th October 2009 10:49 AM

I'd love Ayu with black hair again, it suits her best imo.
And it's time for another great change in her appearance, she has been blonde/light brown for a while, so Ayu go!

love in music 25th October 2009 11:30 AM

when did she ever say she wanted to dye it black? i thought she just said she couldn't dye it at the moment, and didn't say anything else about it

aura~ 25th October 2009 12:06 PM

^and you are right! She never said that. She only posted pics from new york with black hair, and TA members also though like us, and she posted again after that message to say that she is still blonde and she can't change it during the tour.

miroro 25th October 2009 12:08 PM

hopefull she will dye it brunette or dark again :( it's time to change ayu!! :yes

Earth_maiden 25th October 2009 12:25 PM

Ayu with long black hair is gorgeous. I hope she does change it at the end of her tour!

Mai82Go 25th October 2009 12:36 PM

I think we all love her with dark hair. One of the few topics people seem to agree on.

memorial_ballads 25th October 2009 05:31 PM
