On March 31st, singer-songwriter Otsuka Ai will publish her first picture book, titled "The Red Balloon the Cat Found" (Neko ga Mitsuketa Akai Fuusen) (Kodansha), and in doing so will make her debut as a picture-book writer. A draft was first released in July 2005 with the single "The Cat and the Balloon" (Neko ni Fuusen), and Otsuka expressed that she wanted someday to release a picture book, a wish being realized after five years. Naturally, it will be composed of Otsuka's warm drawings and handwriting from the pictures to the writing style, with everything done by hand. There are plans for an exhibition for the work in the metro area by the end of April.

The book tells the story of a cat on a quest for happiness. After the original release of "The Cat and the Balloon," Otsuka announced on her official homepage that it would be remade into a novella of the same name. Now that it is being remade into a picture book, the message will be stronger, and it is said that even full-grown adults will be moved by this publication.

Otsuka stated, "More than the situation of those days and the circumstances, in order for the inspiration I received to differentiate I didn't make the same illustrations twice, so each one expresses a new round."

Furthermore, the song "Zokkondition," which will be used in the "Asahi Slat" commercial Otsuka stars in, along with "LUCKY STAR," the Fuji TV theme for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics will be released on April 7th as a double a-side.

Ai Otsuka dating RIP SLYME's SU ?

According to the newest issue of Josei Seven, singer Ai Otsuka (27) may be in a relationship with rapper SU (36) of RIP SLYME. Both of their agencies declined to comment, neither confirming nor denying the news.

On a night earlier this month, SU was seen entering Otsuka's apartment with a spare key. The next morning, he was spotted leaving the apartment alone after Otsuka had already left for work. At least one source close to the couple said that the two have been visiting each other's apartments since around the start of this year, and that Otsuka had given SU the spare key to her place.

Last year, they collaborated on Otsuka's song "aisu x time," which was recorded for her "LOVE is Best" album in November. It appears that their work together quickly led to romance.

SU was previously dating singer Kaela Kimura (25) for a few years, but they broke up last year.

I'm really looking forward to that picture book! :yes That's so creative and amazing of her! I'm definitely going to buy it if it's reasonable enough! The only thing I'd be wary about if I was a celebrity like her and having an art show event like that is that people wouldn't be sincere about how they feel about her work. She's so famous that they're all going to be like, "isn't it wonderful?!!" even if they think it's crap. It must be hard to get sincere criticism being in that position. : /

Though I'm sure we'll all be really honest on AHS, as we always are! :laugh
