Yes, like rakeru suggested, it can be #1 just 1 day and #2 for the rest of the week as long as in total it sells more. It doesn't happen often at all but for example

just to mention it again and again, both hamasaki and koda are AVEX artists, so avex can manipulate the amount of copies shipped as they wish...

not really, oricon gets data from shops, not from avex.

Of course, though the user meant that avex could manipulate the copied being shipped to the shops from the first place, so if they ship less of kuu's single it wouldn't be able to sell more in stores.

Though I don't think that they even need to do it to be honest.

They can't manipulate the number of copies sold at the shops, but they can SHIP less copies to the stores ^^ Although there won't be the need for that :innocent

Yup ! Kuu can do well in digital but in physical sales, Ayu always wins ( in recent years )!

I'm not saying kuu doesn't hold a hit but people shouldn't consider just recochoku, or some legal downloads sites for that matter.
It can do just gold certification eventually or not be certificated (though as it's a ballad I'm sure that it will do well).

ayu can do better digitally too at the end, or at least do decently or not at all.
Only time will tell. :)
