I believe that everything will go through, and because of the strength of living, we will stand together as a family, pray.....

Midori-chan 13th March 2011 12:33 PM

Thank you for sharing!

She always chooses the right words...
But I'm so sad and scared. I want to see her smile again! I want that everybody in Japan can laugh again! I hope, the worst is over...!

ayumi is truly a one winged angel :angel always thinking of others

Mayayu 13th March 2011 01:50 PM

I live so far from Japan but feel so close, sad & hands trembling and all.

Anywyay, I'm so proud of Ayu helping like a big sister to her Japanese fans. Thx for sharing this entry.

Thank you for posting!

Thanks for posting and translation.
I am watching the news nearly all the time to keep up with what happens in Japan and as soon as I start watching and see all the pictures again, I cry, can't help it. Just now I heard that a second nuclear plant is in danger as well as that a vulcan got active again? It's just too much..

Larien 13th March 2011 06:54 PM

Could someone post the original Japanese?

Pieces_of_SEVEN 13th March 2011 08:21 PM

She's truly a pillar of support.

...but seriously, it's been many times that you need to NOT post the original Japanese TA messages outside of TA. Please take it down.

Thank you so much for sharing. It feels like she is speaking directly to my heart. I had plans to go see her in concert this June for the first time ... I wonder if that will still happen.

I kinda wonder if this event will inspire her to write a song about it.

Im pretty sure she already has about a dozen... the post almost seems like poetry or a song.

Oh, sorry!
May I ask why? I assume it's to do with Ayu's words regarding re-posting?

Thing about reposting is,

1) Right on the first page of TA, there's this: "本サイトの内容を営利、非営利を問わず無断で使用することを禁止します。" which translates into "Usage of all contents on this site without permission is prohibited, whether for commercial gain or otherwise." Yes, it's a paid site, of course they will say such things, but it then depends on whether the TA member in question follows it or not. Honestly, most of us don't, which is why you see all these translations floating around. But then, ayu's original message is entirely hers. When we translate, it's ayu's meaning and information we bring over, but the words are ours, the translator's own. By translating, I am not only changing ayu's message into a well-known language, I am also changing the message into my own in an evitable way, because the words are mine, not hers. I am not directly taking contents out from the TA site wholesale, but rather, I am sharing ideas eg ayu's thoughts and stuff. I know many people will argue with this, but that's what I personally believe.

2) True, ayu has never come out to directly state that we cannot repost her original Japanese TA messages outside of TA (or at least I haven't found any that says so yet, I only started translating in 2010, so she may have said so earlier). But there have been several messages over the years which included the following paragraphs.

Quote:

5/1/2008: About the loss of hearing

Erm~...... Well... You know...

I've always wanted to use my own words to honestly express my own feelings to everyone, as much as I can.
That is because I believe that everyone will surely give me their understanding.

Yea... I truly believe that.
That's why... I'm writing this.
I haven't told any of my beloved family or staff members about this. This secret which I alone hold in my heart...

No... It's not true that it's a real secret.
Because I told Mama (MikaJohn) about it.
My left ear has lost its hearing ability.

28/6/2010: About the red bracelet and a molestation incident

Oh, about this incident, I'm only talking about it because this is TA. So if you understand me and do not spread about this over at Twitter, I'll be very happy.
Quote:

27/10/2010: About the uploading of photos at Twitter incident

But as I've said before, I don't show the real me anywhere but here. That's also a fact.

It's somehow really hard to explain in words, but whatever happens, I'll be happy if you continue to watch over me.

And so, I believe that you will understand the meaning of what I'm saying.

And because discussing this issue on Twitter will create more mess, please keep this only in TA, as a TA-only message. Thank you.
There is more, but that's about the gist of it. She may not come out and say "stop sharing my messages outside!!" but you can sense the trust which she has in TA, and the belief that she doesn't wish her innermost thoughts to be known and discussed by any Tom, D-ick or Harry out there on the internet. Yes, we can argue that there are overseas TA fans, and ayu herself has said many times that we're all the same to her, we're all her TA whether we're in the club or no. True, I believe that too, that's why many translators (including myself) translate. However, it's a fact that she chooses to post these messages at TA, and it's also a fact that TA is a private site, which is protected by the legal warning I talked about above. This makes it hard for translators, because it is we who bear the burden of going against the legal warning and ayu's personal wish. The readers are not the ones carrying the fault and guilt should anything (legal prosecution, ayu's disappointment etc) ever happen, it's us, the direct sharers.

3) Some people may argue that "Hey, some Japanese sites repost the messages word for word". Yes, but I feel that that's their problem. Those sites are those sites, AHS is AHS. We can't say that "they're doing it, so we should do it too". It's like saying (random example) "North Korea is amassing nuclear weapons, so we can too!". Imo, it's up to us to distinguish between what we can do, and what we should do.

Sorry, that turned into a bigger rant than I thought it would, but I just felt like I had to explain why some of us stand by the fact that ayu's Japanese messages should not be shared openly on the net. Thanks for reading!! :)
