She can make a cheeseburger, but make a different cheeseburger every time. Try a bourbon burger, and then a bacon burger, and then a veggie burger, etc. Imagine if you went to a restaurant and they had a menu dedicated to just burgers, and by ordering each one you find out that there's only one ingredient different in each dish. You'd get pretty bored and disappointed.

Although I hate dragging utada into an ayumi conversation. Can't Wait Til Christmas and Final Distance are both what I personally would consider winter ballads and they're not similar at all. Ayu can try something different for once and not make a huge depressing cry heart out lost love winter ballad. Koda kumi needs to try too. I think she's worse than Ayu. All her videos are cellphones, crying, and dead Caucasian boyfriends.

Not for me, if something is my favorite and I'm craving it then that's what I'm craving. I don't want anything else, I want what I've come to love for the reasons I've come to love it. I don't consider those songs winter ballads; winter ballads are different than ballads in the sense that they evoke the aura and environment of winter - Hikkis is a nice listen but it doesn't exude snowflakes falling from the sky while simultaneously warming the heart and soul. I prefer those grand winter-style songs. Give me another momentum/no way to say/days please.

When something has become a "favorite" it is because you have decided that certain aspects about it bring great pleasure and when the aspects you love overtime become nonexistent, then the basis for which you value and assign your favoritism begins to crumble and that's when disappointment ensues. Look at the outrage that ensues when coke altered their flavor generations ago. Lol.

In closing, when I buy a pear I expect it to taste like a pear. When I buy orange juice I expect it to taste like orange juice. When I listen to ayu, I expect it to sound like ayu.

NWTS is definitely one of her best winter ballads. I think I like it so much because it's one of the first. If she made it after Days, You Were, Momentum, and Moon I'd probably not like it as much.

MOON is not a winter ballad tho, and it is one of my fav ayu songs, its so ethereal and beautiful, the lyrics are just <3

It really is so good though. I never really liked it much until sometime earlier this year, when I got on a major Ayu kick again. It'd come on play and I'd just be floored by how I could have never realized how awesome it was when I was younger lol.

NWTS was one of those gems that you didnt realize was good till after she started realizing a string of winter ballads and then you're like... OHHHHH.... yes I see now! lol

I'd venture to say Virgin Road even though it came a couple months early. "how beautiful you are" is probably more likely, but if we're talking album tracks included, Ivy is the most recent.

As far as the single, I'd love to see another triple-A. Ballads like Moments/NWTS/Dearest/Dolls/HANABI... you know, something with Ayu's beautiful intros and unique atmosphere.

But I think, above all, it's been 8 years since we've had something like JEWEL, a hybrid of something like Dearest and curtain call. (EDIT: I take that back. We've had Sweet scar since... I'll take another Sweet scar, please.)

And if she manages to surprise us with something, like she did on L by releasing Last angel, I'll probably die. I remember when that announcement came and I was like, "OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG A TRANCE BALLAD OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG" and promptly spilled my virginities all over the place. Four years later, I still have to stop what I'm doing and turn the volume up when I listen to it.
