Nah, she's floating still. XD

I think in 2001 was when she was on top of the world /COUGH DOME TOUR OPENING VIDEO~

And now she's like floating in the stratosphere rather than space.. XD

Kodayumi 9th September 2006 04:30 AM

If she's really gonna fall, she will definitely rise to the jpop throne again

Raleigh 9th September 2006 09:14 AM

For now I think she's not ready to fall yet since she seems to be doing her own thing.

ayu is the prettiest and will remain the queen.....
koda has a shot but ai?? not a chance.. her music is very childish imo

My thoughts:

Koda Kumi came up with a blast last year with her ero-kawaii and ero-kakkoii image. But even more recently, Ai Otsuka, another great Japanese artist, came out of nowhere and surprised people with her #1 songs and her movie Tokyo Friends. Ok I don`t know that much about Ai Otsuka. I mean I listen to some of her songs and they`re very lovely but I don`t know that much about her. Now Koda Kumi on the other hand I know alot about. Sure she has a sexy image but she has had her moments being cute and quirky with songs like Shake it up, You, Feel and Promise. She has worked hard to get to where she is now. I think she`d be a a suitable Jpop Queen. I mean she`s different. She mixes it up. She goes from sexy to cute. After Ayu, I think Kuu should be Jpop Queen. I think Jpop needs someone with a more changeable image and unique sense of style. Ai Otsuka I think writes a lot of ballads. You can probably compare her to Ayumi Hamasaki and Utada Hikaru. All 3 of them are about the same. And that`s why I don`t want Ai Otsuka to be Jpop Queen. We need someone who`s different. An example would be Koda Kumi. In addition, Koda Kumi has some very excellent dance moves. She`s very free with her dance moves and she`s very flexible. Ai Otsuka is also an actress. I have yet to see some of her movies as well as hear more of her songs.

Also, I don`t find any of Ai`s songs to be childish. They`re cute and lovely.

And another thing, I`m not saying that I want Kuu to be Jpop Queen or that she`s better than Ayu. I always want Ayu to be Jpop Queen but we can`t really exspect her to keep the crown forever can we? So I think Kuu would make a great Jpop Queen.

And Otsuka says that Koda... 'acts like a cheap, nightclub hostess'.
LOL! :laugh

Well "came out of nowhere" would be a good term to describe her back in like 2004, but now, not really. But since you don't know much about Ai, I guess you said that...

^ Yeah ayu_fan929 is right. Her 'Sakuranbo', back then shot her into popularity but since then she's been quite a popular artist and has more or less been in the spotlight.

Such a great interesting article

Kuu I can see, but Ai? :no

And ayu won't get "bumped off the throne" anytime soon :D If noone has noticed, Jpop Queens don't fall off the throne, they step down willingly. Look at Namie, she went on a hiatus voluntarily to pursue marriage, that's how ayu got her big break. Had Namie not stepped down, ayu won't have had that shot at Queen. I bet the same thing will happen again. So no chance, Kuu and Ai, you gotta wait it out ;)

I don't think it will be anyone who is famous at the moment that will be the New Queen. I think the future Queen of J-pop is probably some Japanese High School girl who is not yet famous.

This is crap.
Period.

Libriya 29th October 2006 04:57 AM

The JPOP Queen? Hmm...
As for me Ayu will always be not just a "Queen of JPOP', but "the Queen of music". She's so different as her music and songs.
When I saw 1st my Ayumi's PV, I thought: so emotional, impressive and sincere. Ayu's songs touched me, even without an image.
But Koda is absolutely different. When I saw her forst time, I thought: she's hot, cute and sexy. Cutie Honey is the only song I really like. Kuu can't wright as deep songs as Ayu writes. Kuu is just an image, she can't sing emotionally.
I can't feel that her songs goes right out of her heart.

The sexiness that I'm pursuing is not the kind that will only make the men think I'm sexy, but also the women
Woman? Oh, but not all men think of her in that way. On our russian forum one guy wrote about Koda: "There are girls you want make love with, but you will never love and admire them."
I'm a 17year old girl an the perfect image of woman for me is Ayu. She looks sexy, but her image is noble and generous (remember "My Name's WOMEN" PV). She have never looked like hostess (even in BECAUSE OF YOU PV)

Kuu will never be at the same high level as Ayumi. It's onle my opinion.

~X2RADialbomber~ 29th October 2006 04:59 AM

Please don't say that Kuu doesn't sing from the heart. I know you are saying that is your own opinion, but she does write most of her Ballads.

Libriya 29th October 2006 05:00 AM

And when I've read this thread, I remembered Hilary Duff's song "Haters"... it fits to Ayu and Koda

Haters

Don't spit on me and shame yourself
Because you wish you were someone else
You look so clean, but you spread your dirt
As if you think that words don't hurt

You build up walls no one can climb
Things you do should be a crime
You're the queen of superficiality
Keep your eyes out of my reality
And when you're nice, it's just a pose

[CHORUS]
You're one of those haters!
Traitors to the human race
Haters!
What a drag, what a waste
I'd like to see them disappear
They don't belong anywhere

Haters!
Haters!

Spinning a web, that's hard to see
With envy, greed and jealousy
Feeling angry, but you don't know why
Why don't you look me in the eye?
You want my friends
You want my clothes

[REPEAT CHORUS]

Haters!
Haters!
Haters!
Haters!

Different life forms different species
Broken promises isn't in treaties
Talking 'bout exterminating
Stop the haters, just the haters

You say your boyfriend's sweet and kind
But you still got your eyes on mine
Your best friend's got her eyes on yours
It all goes on behind closed doors
And when you're nice, it's just a pose

[REPEAT CHORUS]

Haters!
Ready for the alibi
Haters!
Any shape, any size
I'd like to see them disappear
They don't belong anywhere
Haters!
Traitors!
Haters!
Haters!
Haters!
Haters!
Haters!

Sorry, I like Koda's party-like songs more... but I don't like her lyrics.

^^try using the edit button to avoid double posts...It's wierd scrolling down the page and seeing a multitude of posts by you right after each other...it's like looking at a conversation between martin and anthony...

anyway, who cares how long she can be queen. She is still the best, and it is very safe to say that the best person for the job doesn't necessarily have it all of the time...

She writes most of her party songs too as well. I don't think she writes the sexual lyrics though (She never wrote JUICY)

truehappiness 29th October 2006 05:38 AM

I think it'd be best to try to bring up Koda debates as little as possible.

Eigakan 29th October 2006 05:58 AM

I love all this gossip!

I rather like that idea.
