I think that those facts about "correct" singing techniques are more true in the world of classical music & such. in pop the artists don't really care about whats the "pure" way of singing , they care more about the singing actually sounds.
like Mariah Carey has her own way of singing , the technique she uses is her own & not a "pure" singing technique. she has her own unique sound which soundfs really good , tho ppl say that not using the correct techniques has lead to some deteriorating in her vocal abilities over the years :P anyways , my point is that it's clear that Ayu's vibrato/warble/worble/whatever isn't a "true" singing technique but really it doesn't matter to the casual listener in pop music :yes |

The thing is that this technique is quite harmful and simply being addressed. Regardless to her 'style' she is still flawed. If she wants to sing with these she should utlitize them in the correct way. |
//hikari is very right.
and we all know that pop music is very different from classical/opera but it is music nevertheless and still singing. Singing is singing in any style. Vibrato is a natural thing in many singers and it can also be induced or taken and way- which is singing "straight-toned" the thing that puzzles me is that Ayu moves her jaw and moving your jaw does NOTHING to create vibrato! maybe sometime i will record and upload some examples of myself singing w/ vibrato and without. but let us continue w/ discussion ^^ i like it! |

Just like some people bend over their heads on one side when they write, becouse they feel more comfortable or smth, while it doesn't really effect their writing style... Unless she developed some uncontrolled jaw movement syndrome over the years of singing without the right techniques. |
Vibrato should come naturally, not extremely exaggerated. I don't mind if she does it, but when exaggerated I feel it's just to get that "studio voice."
|
I'm almost embarassed for Ayu when I see her doing this extreme vibrato thing. Her voice sounds so lovely when she uses a more natural-sounding vibrato, like in her earlier recordings; why did she switch to this really annoying jaw-pumping vibrato?? I'll never understand. :irked

i admire any vibrato ^.^
i do feel that she cant rlly hold any note w/ vibrato for a long period of time.. and sometimes, i feel lik shes forcing the vibrato out, and she does a bit too much |
Unhealthy?
Is it really unhealthy to do that warble thingy? Because that's what I do when I sing her song, and it felt good. I also heard that you should be using your throat to do that, not your abdomen.
Anyway, Ayu sounds very good when she does her vibrato, and I think it's a good thing. Depends. |
I love her vibrato-thing, and i think it's nice that she can make it sound so good, but i really don't like when she's doing to much, like singing JEWEL live!
Anyways, i think her "new" voice would be quite empty without it |
