Yep, just a bit lol

Well I think that's how it's going to come off to Americans anyway...who are used to "good singers" being like...Leona Lewis, and Kelly Clarkson or whatever.

They aren't really used to the style that Asian singers sing in.

ストロボ・EdGE 10th April 2009 09:44 PM

I was kind of assuming that FYI would be the next single, she also sung it at the CBS live but anyway.

I remember watching this MTV thing where they said Utada was like "Sarah Machlanahan and Madonna dipped in sake" :/

I honestly think that there is no true version of Hikki in the US.

Umm, you know that Britney left the stage because people were smoking pot right in front of her and it was clouding up the entire stage, right? She didn't stomp off at all, read the reports.

And unless you're a total prude dweeb, using swear words is not the same as screaming profanity at someone, :laugh

I'm not sure what they are smoking but agreed. I'm pretty sure ur not allowed to smoke in the public areas anyways >_> especially when a lot of these areas are poorly ventillated. And plus she continued the show anyways, but I still think swearing was unnecessary XD. Its not like she stopped it and left, I'm sure she did it for a reason. Why must people make britney look bad whenever they can? D: ~!

Anyways the sales in the US don't look too good T^T ~! I hope she can still pull a lady gaga and boom upwards D: ~!

CoriKaru 11th April 2009 12:26 AM

Utada is still at the #4 position on iTunes Japan with her Album. Very Good Stuff.
And she occupies the 3, 6, and 9 positions on iTune Japan Music Video List.

Evolution7/4 11th April 2009 02:31 AM

I voted for Ayu. :D But I love them both...

hikaricore 11th April 2009 02:32 AM

OMG, while I was in F.Y.E. today,
I saw an ad for "This is the One"
It was a big poster over the CD's with a box for reservations. And it looked pretty full, too!!

ストロボ・EdGE 11th April 2009 04:03 AM

I need to go to my FYE!! It'd be so cool to see more of her in public. I want her to be on MTV or something. BTW, does anyone know what she has scheduled to do next?

It's interesting how different the charts are in US from Japan, and the way artists promote their albums, single releases etc, very different from in Japan, where you release several singles at first, then the album, in the US it's kind of opposite, so that means there's still good chances of the album rising on the charts

Actually... how many countries use the system of release couples of singles first before releasing an album? I really think Japan's the only (bigger) country in Asia doing that way. I know Taiwan and HK don't release singles (and probly Korea as well), but usually the artists promote one new song (or two), then they release the album, then continue to plug more songs on the radio charts.

And UK and US have the same system. So in the end I dun really know if Japan system is actually the "interesting" one. Logically I think Japan system seems cooler because you get chances to listen to couple of songs to determine if the upcoming album suits your taste. Most importantly, I really love the cd cover arts in Japan. They're so attractive compared to those dull US/UK covers :P.

KarenPang 11th April 2009 09:47 AM

frankly I prefer the way Japanese artistes release their material .

Single/s & then album . It's rare for you to see recut singles being issued in Japan's context unlike in other parts of the world & that should be the way .

It kinda defeats the whole purpose of releasing your album & then somemore singles to be released from the album after it's out ? it can be quite hard for people to keep up

hayasaki 11th April 2009 09:55 AM

Utada being compared to Mariah. In my own prespective, those people who compare her to Mariah are those who have known her just by now or recently. I mean, most of us known Utada for 10 years... we are sooooooo used to her voice... That's what i mean. XD

Minttulatte 11th April 2009 10:26 AM

In some songs Utada does sounds like Mariah to me even if I have listened to Hikki for 4 years or so now. :D Especially song On and On brought Mariah to my mind at once when Hikki started singing the song. I was wondering "Why's a Mariah Carey song on this album?" and I haven't gotten used to that voice yet but I still adore the album. And yes, I'm a Mariah fan too. :p I'm not very annoyed of the comprasion of both of these artists since they are both my favourities and I love their voices.

And about singles. Here in Finland artists releases 1-2 singles off one album before it's released. They also release re-cut singles that has no remixes in, which is sad. I, for example, prefer japanese way of releasing things. :)
