If I weren't just 15 and I had a job I'd totally buy your ayu collection T.T

I have this old trumpet that I never will use (I only played it from 4th-6th grade).
I'm a euphonium/baritone player and soom to be trombone player. So I can sell that cappy thing
Apprently its worth at least $250 in its unfixed state. I want to sell it and buy music lol.
But my parents are in control of that. T.T

That sucks though. Perfumes game. Its not new I know but is it like more expensive-ish or something?

This is a cursed year a swear. But in a sense a happy year. But I want this hikki thing accelerated lol cuz I want more info
Release date pwease, hikki, dearest?

Foxxy_Fuyumi 30th August 2010 02:11 AM

I thought it was in October xD

ALPHY 30th August 2010 05:03 AM

Well, a Japanese autumn release can be scheduled between September and November. ^^

amorphose 30th August 2010 05:32 AM

November 9th? That's so far. :( I wonder if they'll choose one of the new songs to use as a promotional single for the album. Similar to Fight The Blues and This Is Love. If the Nov. 9th date ends up being true, then we should at least hear a new song by mid-late October. But that's still so far. :weep

And if she plans on going full throttle... How can she do much from November to December? D:

Keiichi_JPU 30th August 2010 02:10 PM

Maybe she'll release a physical single before she releases the single collection? It would make sense, create a bit of hype for the single collection.

Polyrhythm 30th August 2010 04:29 PM

I doubt she needs that much hype :P

The day she announced her hiatus Single Collection Vol. 1 reached #19 on the Japanese iTunes charts.....and her blog got over 1,000,000 views in a day.

amorphose 30th August 2010 05:38 PM

^Really!? That's so neat! xD I didn't know that.

JackieRos 1st September 2010 02:55 PM

all artist threads should be like this *coughs*

amorphose 1st September 2010 05:38 PM

Who is JUJU? She's covering "First Love" on her upcoming album, "Request." According to U.blog, chaku-uta's for her cover start Sep. 9th.

NintendoHTF1242 1st September 2010 05:48 PM

JUJU is what I assume is a pretty popular R&B singer. I know she did a collab with another singer named JAY'D and that was successful. Anyway, I can't wait to hear her cover :) (even if I've never heard anything by her teehee)

JackieRos 1st September 2010 06:00 PM

so many people have covered First Love -.-
Kelly Chen has and a bunch of other people.

Juju is a fairly new J-Pop/R&B who's pretty popular, mostly among young hip teenage girls. (She always does much better digitally than with physical sales)

Her biggest hit is last year's Ashita ga Kuru nara ft. JAY'ED. Look it up, it's a pretty good song ; )

I think it's nice she's covering the song, but I don't think she has the voice for it ...

I didn't know she was covering first love though. That's nice although I don't really listen to her

If you don't believe me read em and weep...

Since the adoption of Anderson's constitution in 1723, it has been accepted as fact by regular Masons that only men can be made Masons. Most Grand Lodges do not admit women because they believe it would violate the ancient Landmarks. While a few women, such as Elizabeth Aldworth, were initiated into British speculative lodges prior to 1723,[59] officially regular Freemasonry remains exclusive to men.

While women cannot join regular lodges, there are (mainly within the borders of the United States) many female orders associated with regular Freemasonry and its appendant bodies, such as the Order of the Eastern Star, the Order of the Amaranth, the White Shrine of Jerusalem, the Social Order of Beauceant and the Daughters of the Nile. These have their own rituals and traditions, but are founded on the Masonic model. In the French context, women in the 18th and 19th centuries had been admitted into what were known as "adoption lodges" in which they could participate in ritual life. However, men clearly saw this type of adoption Freemasonry as distinct from their exclusively male variety. From the late 19th century onward, mixed gender lodges have met in France.
Taken from Wikipedia<<

And their symbols are different.
Pretty off topic but just wanted to point that out. Sowie

emi♡ 3rd September 2010 10:01 AM

...even if freemasons are only a male sect....that doesn't mean it can't possibly apply to them...hikki can do whatever she wants, and if she wants to slap a freemason symbol on the cover, she can lol And the freemasons can go complain to...whoever they go to complain to...

Most likely though, imo, it was just apart of the design they took from somewhere else. She probably saw it and thought "cool!" and then never thought about it ever again.

anyways...her hair is really nice in that picture up there...it's weird how her face like...can seem to be one shape...and then at other times is totally different.

Bigtop 3rd September 2010 10:08 AM

So ayaka's gone, Rina Aiuchi's about to be gone permanently, Ayabie's literally gone except for one, and now, what was once publicized for the Ayu rivalry back in 2001, Utada's soon to be gone...

It's funny but somehow when I read this line... I feel like it should be the other way around. I know probly it means vice versa as well, but to me ayu was set as hikki's rival back in 2001. Objectively speaking, Hikki was already the queen, and avex used her to push ayu to the top. That's why they put A BEST on 3.28 rite after Toshiba had announced the release date for Distance.

Again nothing against anyone... just my thought when I read the line :P.

ayaka and Rina both have health issues. Therefore their hiatuses were unavoidable. Utada is going on one, but she'll be back. If that's what you meant by your post. I took it as "Utada is gonna be leaving us soon to now...forever" Yeah I dunno.

Maemi 3rd September 2010 12:31 PM

I wonder if Vol.2 cover will be the same as Vol.1...just the other colour (I hope not) @.@

Meat Pao 3rd September 2010 01:53 PM

I wouldn't want an exact same cover but at least something with a similar concept imo... I thought the cover for Vol 1 was simple and nice. They should keep w/ the simplicity of the cover.

Keiichi_JPU 3rd September 2010 06:32 PM

I have a feeling she's going to be consistent and not put her face on the cover :(

That's why I'm hoping for a single, facepic please! :D

amorphose 8th September 2010 03:47 AM

Does anyone know where I can find these?

I checked eBay but I could only find Single Collection.

Bigtop 8th September 2010 04:18 AM

Yeah, these tapes are surely out of print... We here around the world in developed nations don't use tape anymore, maybe only developing countries do... But they don't sell such releases like the one above...

Keiichi_JPU 8th September 2010 01:48 PM

@Amorphose: you could try Yahoo Auction Japan and use a middleman service like Crescent Shop?

A tape like that in japanese is a コンパクトカセット or in short カセット, so if you search for 宇多田ヒカル カセット or something, I figure you'd find something.

Edit: I just searched and on this very moment the Distance tape is on sale, bidding starts at 1000 yen (10$), so if you really want it, hurry up and make a Crescent shop account! :D let me know how it went if you decide to try!

bluegie 8th September 2010 04:14 PM

Did Toshiba ever release cassettes for hikki in Japan?? I can't recall them doing that when the first three albums were released. Probly those are not from Japan.

JackieRos 8th September 2010 04:47 PM

Oh wow I just saw a commercial for Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep

I'm late I know

Pieces_of_SEVEN 8th September 2010 05:40 PM

Come on with the damn singles collection announcement

Polyrhythm 8th September 2010 05:45 PM

It was announced a month ago.

primavera♥ 8th September 2010 05:59 PM

@Pieces of SEVEN: yeah like. Can we at least have the release date...

I'm probably not buying this I've finally decided. It may be special but not worth it this time (for me). If only she wouldve released a brand new studio album.

As far as the tracklist. I'm guessing hikki hasn't finished the songs yet. And is this an october or november release?

There's too much to keep up with nowadays *sigh* I just want to skip the cover and hear the songs and get this waiting over with

Which I'm dieing for as well!! I wanna know the new song titles!

Picaflor 7/4 8th September 2010 09:43 PM

Those casettes look cool. But I am more interested in her vinyl. All I have is fly me to the moon, and automatic/time will tell vinyls. I wish she still released them. It would be so cool to own the exodus ones. I wonder if that one british shop still has that one devil inside vinyl. Only reason I want it is because it has "Devil Inside (RJD2 Remix Instrumental)" Which we could use to make a vocal track, and remixes. hehe

Keiichi_JPU 8th September 2010 10:41 PM

^ I've been looking for the Exodus era vinyls for ages when I was in London, and they're definitely not in store there anymore. you can find them on eBay and Yahoo Auction Japan quite easily, though.

HTMSD 8th September 2010 10:52 PM

In Indonesia, the cassette still released until ULTRA BLUE, I think I still can find it from First Love to ULTRA BLUE easily in the local store xDD~ It just about 3 USD each, but Indonesian release =___="

Kanzaki 8th September 2010 10:55 PM

Every single one of her albums have always been 3059 yen (36$), so unless she's gonna pull an Avex and release a CD+DVD version, I think Single Collection 2 will also be $36.

I know at least Pieces of SEVEN and Picaflor were at the NYC show for ITF, so I'm gonna say this! CAN YOU GUYS BELIEVE IT'S BEEN 7 MONTHS?! O_O;

About the cassettes ~ When payday comes around I'm definitely gonna look on Yahoo! Auctions. I really want them. xD My car only has a cassette player (and yes I have that iPod hook up thing) but it'd still be really awesome to have her albums on cassette. Just cause I grew up with those!

About the vinyls~ I have the Exodus '04 one! :) I don't have the Devil Inside or YMMWTBAM ones though.

And about the release date... IKR? When the hell are we gonna get it? I'm still really hoping for an October release but livedoor mentioned something about November? Ughhh, I wish they'd tell us!

Yeah it's like that with her, isn't it.

On my last.fm, Hikki is my #3 most-listened artist and the gap between #2 and #1 is quite large. But still when people ask me for my favorite artist, I'd put her on a shared #1 with Ayu. She's my favorite, I just don't listen to her that much anymore, because there's no new material at the moment.

But I love that woman to death <3

if there was anything I hated more, it was the fact that the concert was on a monday. Why couldn't it have been on a friday/saturday? >> pieces of seven was there, and said on here that he was going to wear his ayu next level hoodie. I looked everywhere for it, Every other song she sung, I looked below at everyone hoping to catch a glimpse. only to have him tell me a while later that he ended up not wearing it.

Anyways, we should have done an ahs meet up. would have been cool. I didn't get there till 7 pm though. I still went to school earlier that day. and I live 2 hours from ny, not including traffic and red lights.

TITO got some unfair treatment because self proclaimed "long time Hikki fans" found that it sounds nothing like her Japanese works.....and to them its automatically bad. It has flaws but it was still the best English album from an Asian artist breaking into the US market that year.

Zeke. 11th September 2010 07:27 PM

^ She already tried "breaking" into the market and BoA's album was lightyears ahead of TITO. Seriously, TITO is **** on the bottom of my shoe compared to BoA's album.

Polyrhythm 11th September 2010 07:30 PM

why?

and tbh i do like boa's over hikki's. the videos were amazing, the choreography was amazing, the songs sounded so cool and fresh from her usual stuff. with tito we got one video of her looking sad in 1000 different dresses, and it sounded like she was trying to hard to please the american audience. it was also a step different from her usual music, but not one that really suited her.

OMG, calm down. Lol, I would consider myself a much bigger Hikki fan than BoA so don't say I'm a "stan" - anybody that has a varying opinion on this board automatically is labeled a "stan" or "troll" - it's ridiculous. I didn't even take your comment as a "hit" toward BoA. All I was saying is that in my honest opinion, BoA's album was TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT and given that they were both released that year, hers is actually worthy of listening to and worthy of my purchase! Her's was an actual breakout album as it was her first American CD.

why?

So much people said, that this album is bad. And this was the reason, why i said to myself "i listen to it tomorrow...tomorrow.....tomorrow...etc" XD

But, i bought the exodus album and it was two years in my shelf until I listened to it for the first time. XP

The only song i heard from TITO so far is "Apple and cinnamon".

IMO is a very nice album... it's more cohesive than most of her japanese work, the lyrics are filled of her bizarre sense of humour she never shows on her japanese work and the songs are so damn catchy^^

This is the One was okay but it wasn't anything groundbreaking or special. I liked it, but I found it really forgettable, maybe with an exception for one or two songs. I don't even listen to it anymore :(

BoA's english album was really good, but that doesn't belong in this thread. lol

don't listen to what other people say. everyone has their own taste. you might end up really loving it. one reason why I don't read blog reviews is because it's always that person's opinion about the song. If I read a really bad review of a song and decided that I should listen to them and not listen to it for myself and make my own judgment, I might never know if I like it or not. For example. I know that amorphose on here really hates the song "kanariya". I happen to really like that song, It sounds peaceful to me. But if I decided he was right, and the song would probably suck, I would have never known that I myself might really enjoy the song.

Omg. This. This is why I hate reading reviews anyway.

yup. that and the fact that it is her worst selling album ever. haha I think exodus is better because it was more experimental and she did 90% of the work herself. timbaland co-composed only 2 of the songs, and he remixed wonder 'bout for the album, but that was after utada did the song all by herself and finished it. Tito was half composed by 2 european producers to make it american sounding. She apparently believed that would be the only way to do well. Make it sound like what american audiences want. Which is partly true.

That and the fact that Exodus had ****ing kick ass remixes. Really cool single covers, and awesome pvs. Easy breezy was ok, but it was still better than cbtm where she sang while looking sad in a different outfit every 2 seconds.
