^soooooooooo you just bought it for the poster?

Polyrhythm 26th April 2011 10:16 AM

No. But since there's no poster, there's no need for me to have it immediately. Charting period is pretty much done...I'm strapped for cash and I didn't predict I would be getting both versions of the new Perfume single.

Received my copy of the dvd last saturday, and the poster was in the package...I don't understand why they told you that you won't get it?

bluegie 29th April 2011 01:26 AM

which place you ordered it polyrhythm? cdjapan or yesasia?

Polyrhythm 29th April 2011 02:59 AM

CDJapan. I guess they just ran out of posters since I was ordering it with stuff that comes out later? Then again....they're giving posters to everyone who orders a Hikki album or DVD. Dunno. I was thinking about canceling before emailing them though...I wanted to buy alan's best album...but then I decided no to both. It sucks being a poor college student.

bluegie 29th April 2011 09:29 PM

But isn't the first press of Wild Life including poster? Or DVD version doesn't have first press? :yconfused

The first press DVD version has the poster! I've pre-ordered it when the first press thingie was mentioned on the webpage at cd japan, and I did received the DVD + the poster...no worries!;)

Keiichi_JPU 29th April 2011 10:22 PM

If they screw you over, you'll get one of mine because I should be receiving 2 identical posters! (first press + special offer). However I'm not 100% sure I'll be receiving two, so don't count on it. But I think you should get a poster yourself actually!

Picaflor 7/4 1st May 2011 07:23 PM

I got my poster in the mail. Pretty deceitful cdjapan. they have this picture on the site making it look like it was gonna be the poster, but when i received it in the mail, it was the same as the one you get if you buy wild life. Meh... I didn't even notice til now that on the page it says it's the same poster as the wild life one, but why would they get my hopes up by using a false image for the poster? :/

The present will be included with the orders and we won't be making any announcement.
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/rcms/jpop/u...fe_poster.html

When I bought one of the applicable items on the page, my order said there was only one piece in my order, the tracking also said my order was only one item. but when i got it in the mail, it had the poster included. They're being discrete about it, which probably also includes calling and asking them about receiving it. They're not telling anyone if they got the poster or not til it actually arrives in the mail.

U-GO-BOY 1st May 2011 07:38 PM

just watching ***** as Folk 5x01.. it's awesome to hear Utada in the background haha

Polyrhythm 2nd May 2011 10:59 PM

Has she ever performed Hikari live? Other than in her concerts I mean.

Zahara 3rd May 2011 01:13 AM

^i don't think so. I don't think she did much promoting of the single, but then again KH is enough lol.

Utada's Hiatus: 4 months down, 4 years and 8 months to go.

sigh...........

bluegie 4th May 2011 05:37 AM

It's not uncommon to see hikki NOT performing lives at all. It was toshiba's tactics when she went into the music scene in the first place. And it matches her style anywayz.

Not that I really want a poster... but it's always good to have some bonuses.. lol :P. The only time cdjapan screwed me over was the DEEP RIVER release. It was my first online cd purchase, and back then I didn't have a credit card, so I had to go to the central post office to get money order. After I sent the money order, I emailed them about the first press poster (whether they folded it or not), and they said I didn't specify to have a poster in my order (da da shipping fee would increase blah blah blah). I was really mad because DR first press poster was somehow unique (I remember.. five or six different versions, taken by a famous Japanese photographer). I wish they will give me one of those instead as a bonus this time :P.

Picaflor 7/4 4th May 2011 05:48 AM

^They screwed me over too. I bought namie's past future album (first press, because it's a digipack) and it didn't come with a poster even though first press versions of her album is supposed to.

Zahara 4th May 2011 07:54 AM

no you're right. she had ovarian cancer iirc.

Polyrhythm 4th May 2011 07:34 PM

No, it was an ovarian tumor that wasn't cancerous at all. Of course it could have become a cancer if she left it...I suppose the surgery is what caused her weight gain during that era.

I absolutely loved the Heart Station look, and people were spewing around words like "fat lesbian" all the time back then, so I guess she was a bit bigger too then? I didn't really notice. But if so, I like it too!

"fat lesbian" is a bit much, but she didn't look really good during HS era except the photos in the booklet. Her hair was really good in the booklet, but somehow it looked like some sorta disaster on lives. And her skin was really tanned during the album promotion (I doubt she went sun tanning tho..).

Basically, I only love the hikki (her apperanace) in the booklet during HS era. :P

wait...

Does anyone else feel like Ayu's latest tour is kind of similar to Wild Life?

Stage = similar

Stripped down intimate concert = similar

Few or no costume changes = similar

I dunno it just feels similar....AKA: I want Utada back pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ee *whines*

bluegie 9th May 2011 01:48 AM

wow I was thinking about that while reading the power of music thread. I really hope I can see that one because it's rare to see a simple ayu concert (probly she won't be making another one again...).

I really hope that I will be able to see hikki and ayu concerts during my lifetime :D.

I dunno why but i thought she looked fatter (im sooooooo sorry for the word) well, lets say "more meaty" during Exodus era. XD

And I know it has been argued for a frequent times already, but why do we always talk about her size when there's nothing to talk about her songs? LOL. anyway, its a fun topic though. 'not to offend anyone or utada herself, atleast this thread should be so freakin' active for the next less than four YEARS. :D:D:D:D

Minttulatte 12th May 2011 09:50 AM

CoriKaru 13th May 2011 03:08 AM

I had never seen this Utada DS Commercial until recently.

The one I'm referring to is the last one in this compilation that starts around the 2:02 point.

I love how the commercial right before the last one ends with Utada saying "You Look Stupid" at 1:54 considering the early criticisms of looking silly while playing the DS in public.

hayasaki 13th May 2011 03:12 AM

^oh gosh. watching the cm again made me play EXODUS. I mean like, honestly speaking

ストロボ・EdGE 14th May 2011 08:47 PM

Easy Breezy is such a guilty pleasure for me.

zellyx 15th May 2011 04:51 AM

yeah, I like Easy Breezy and You Make Me Want to be a Man.
guilty pleasures.
hate to admit it!

Polyrhythm 15th May 2011 05:19 AM

You Make Me Want To Be A Man and Kremlin Dusk are the only songs I will listen to from Exodus....maybe Devil Inside and Exodus 04 if I feel like it. The rest of that crap album is too embarrassing to bear with. A blemish on her discography really...

ストロボ・EdGE 15th May 2011 05:25 AM

I was never able to get into You Make Me. I understand the meaning of the song and everything, but it's so awkward. For what she sang about, it's something that you can't naturally say consequentially. idk

amorphose 15th May 2011 06:00 PM

I love You Make Me Want To Be A Man. I think Easy Breezy's kind of cute & when EXODUS came out I was only 10 so I really liked it back then and it's got a "classic" feeling now. I love a lot of EXODUS though and really don't think it's a "blemish" in her discography. :P

Kremlin Dusk, Hotel Lobby, Devil Inside, the aforementioned You Make Me Want To Be A Man, Tippy Toe, Wonder 'Bout, ect... I love the whole album!

koumori 15th May 2011 06:16 PM

Awh, I love Exodus. It's just such a polished album, in my opinion.

CoriKaru 15th May 2011 08:09 PM

I've been playing the crap out of "Kremlin Dusk", "You Make Me Want To Be A Man", and "Devil Inside" from her Utada United 2006 Tour myself.

Isn't it funny what time has done for Exodus' credibility? It has aged very well I must say. Blends in nicely with modern times. Timeless.

You're missing all the action underneath my navel.

Definitely does. If I didn't know about it I'd think it was released a lot more recently than nearly 7 years ago.

Nearly 7 years ago?? :thud I'm young but I remember buying that album like a year after it's release in a music store.....

Exodus is a little too experimental for my taste. Its aged well, though it doesn't compare to her Ultra Blue & Heart Station. It's good, but for a Utada album it's not phenomenal, IMO.

ストロボ・EdGE 16th May 2011 04:26 AM

I'm listening to About me and giggling. The comment about the datedness of Exodus does /not/ apply to this song.

Zahara 16th May 2011 06:46 AM

I was 18 when it came out. I feel so old now lol.

Keiichi_JPU 16th May 2011 10:49 AM

I've always said Exodus is a brilliant album and I'm glad more people are starting to agree. It's definitely one of my favorites. If it was released 7 years ago, I was 12 when it came out but I remember buying it when I was 14. It was my first j-pop album. (Well, album of a Japanese artist)

Ha. I know. I just like "Navel" and first thought that was what she was saying when I first heard it. Had a whole different meaning for me when I thought it was "Navel." ('O')

I also thought she was saying, "Everybody wants me to be their RANGER."

The sad thing is that literally just weeks ago, I finally found out I was wrong. I NEVER understood what being a "Ranger" had to do with anything for all these years, but then again it was "Exodus" and there were a few other things I didn't understand and I was young so I just sung it and trusted Utada knew what she was talking about.

My first Utada Album was "DEEP RIVER" and I hadn't even heard one song yet.

bluegie 17th May 2011 11:22 AM

^Why???? DR is literally her best album.

LOL. I heard the word ranger until she sang the song on a Japanese show (MS?).

You're talking about Exodus? I still remember how I hated it back in 2005-2006 when I first heard it. :D It was too experimental but nowadays I really, really adore it just like every other Hikki album. :) I have learned that Exodus is good because it was so different at the time. I wonder what might have happened if it was released today instead too. :3 Oh well, my favorite Exodus songs are About Me, Tippy Toe, Hotel Lobby, Animato, You Make Me Want To Be A Man, Kremlin Dusk, Devil Inside, Let Me Give You My Love and Exodus '04. :)

KremlinChaos 17th May 2011 10:13 PM

@CoriKaru: That must have been awkward when you first listened to it lmao. Devil Inside would be so perverted if it was "navel."

EXODUS was my first Utada album and I still love it <3. I think it's her most creative work.

Polyrhythm 17th May 2011 10:21 PM

Exodus is also the first Hikki CD I bought. I actually co-owned it with my sister but she was like, damn the lyrics in this album suck and most of the songs are boring. I only keep it cause her face is on it and because its the first Utada CD I've ever found. Otherwise it would have ended up at the bottom of some box in my garage, along with that crappy BoA US album I threw out.

I know I keep bringing this up but is there any news whatsoever about In The Flesh? Are people tweeting her about it? Is she even tweeting still?

I desperately need that concert in my life.

Not Fade Away 24th May 2011 08:50 PM

Hahaaa, I actually can't stand 'Easy Breezy' on that album. When she put it out as the first single, I literally shook my head. Don't get me wrong, I love Utada, but there are definitely some 'skippable' tracks on her albums for me. It's funny because I read a lot about Utada (swear I'm not obsessed lol) and even now I find out new things about her or her discography.

Like I didn't realize 'Drama' on Distance was a collaboration between her and Takuro from Glay. I don't know if they actually worked on it together, or if she sampled a guitar piece from one of Glay's songs, but I still think it's awesome.

-- Not to side-track from the Exodus conversation, but does anyone know if any famous JPop/KPop artists attended her concerts?

I am always curious about this, because we know that Gackt & Namie went to Ayu's, and we all know Namie is familiar with Utada (her cover of 'Kettobase') and we saw Koda Kumi singing along to Utada's songs on that Heyx3 CD singles countdown thing or w/e it was.

Polyrhythm 24th May 2011 11:27 PM

Kazutoshi Sakurai from Mr. Children and Koshi Inaba from B'z attended.

She doesn't say ranger, she says angel.

Not Fade Away 28th May 2011 04:47 AM

I just can't get over how Elton John was talking about her at the time :o) ....It's sad that no one else recognized her talent.

Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeez if Utada had had a good marketing team she would have dominated in the States. Hopefully now that EMI will handle her English-language releases she'll have more success. I feel like they do an AMAZING job promoting her in Japan (her face is everywhere when she has a new release), so they probably would do an equally amazing job in the US.

I really hope she doesn't take longer than a year, because I've already burned out the new songs on Complete Singles Collection Vol 2. I'm now relying on Namie to get me through.

It's even more frustrating because I felt like she was getting back to the R&B/Rock roots that was First Love/Distance/Deep River. Not that I don't like her techno-y stuff, but she belts more when she does r&b and I love it haha.

As for that clip, amorphose (sorry I don't know your real name, lol) the person that posted it took it down, but I will try my hardest to find it! (Also because I love it myself lol)

Sorry for the double post!!!

I found it:

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6i...2007-hey_music

It's really blurry though, so I'll try and find an HQ version -- you can see Kuu singing along at the 2:30 mark (Later she sings along to Addicted to You haha)

Polyrhythm 28th May 2011 05:07 AM

I have a weird feeling that if they did this countdown a couple years from now, it'd be like, 50% filled with AKB48 songs :laugh

Not Fade Away 28th May 2011 05:11 AM

Haha probably -- ugh I wish I could find an hq version! There's also a Heyx3 Best Selling CDs countdown, but I can't find that ---

That countdown is my favorite too because whenever they say the number 1 album as being Utada's and I see that she's like 2 million+ ahead of the runner up, I get so happy hahaha.

Not Fade Away 31st May 2011 06:10 PM

Sorry for the double post, guys!

I just wanted to mention that Utada's Video for 'Goodbye Happiness' is up for Video of the Year at the MTV Music Awards in Japan.

Click here to vote for her: http://www.mtvjapan.com/vmaj/nominee...eo_of_the_year

EDT: She's up against Namie, but damn....when my loyalties come down to it, I always choose Utada hahaha. Also her video had more meaning this year.

Rogue 1st June 2011 06:52 AM

I've chosen SNSD. I'm sorry but I think they deserve it more than Utada. It has nothing to do with loyalty because I really do love Utada and her music, but SNSD is a group that trains everyday and works super hard to attain what they've attained until now.
Utada's clip was sweet, but it's one of her lesser ones. Nothing compares to Kiriya Kazuaki's work for me.

Polyrhythm 1st June 2011 04:41 PM

Don't worry, it's okay to like generic, cookie cutter, ksongs....apparently I mean.

Mirrorcle Monster 1st June 2011 05:36 PM

Not Fade Away 1st June 2011 08:51 PM

I think it deserves an award just because it has a lot of meaning to her fans. Yeah it's simplistic, but when I watched it I thought it was a really great tribute to us, and i'm sure that's partially why it was nominated too.

hayasaki 2nd June 2011 01:57 AM

I know of the existence of these two Passions:

- CD only cardboard sleeve (saw this at HMV Oxford Street, London)
- CD+DVD jewel case (I own it)

I don't know whether a CD-only jewel case exists or not, but I haven't seen it.

Holllaaa! hell yeah it is, haha.

I wonder if she'll win at the MTV awards...probably not. Namie always appears so she usually wins.

CoriKaru 24th June 2011 08:12 PM

So I finally just purchased Utada's "WILD LIFE" Blu-Ray.

Surprisingly enough, they are still giving away the Free Posters, so I'll be getting one of those as well.

I just pray all the new editing and camera angles don't ruin it along with the nostalgia for me.

I don't want this to feel like some brand new experience. I want to recognize this.

But yay. Poster.

kumiko.koda 24th June 2011 08:16 PM

^ I have got the Blu-ray, too

I haven't had time to watch it until now....

I hope that I can watch it this weekend

bluegie 25th June 2011 11:34 PM

I got the blu-ray as well, except that I dun have a blu-ray player. I think Blu-ray will replace dvd in the future, so I didn't get the dvd version.. :P

koumori 26th June 2011 07:46 PM

I've been thinking of getting a Blu-ray player, but there's only a few things I want that need it :tired Maybe I should just save up for a PS3.

Not Fade Away 26th June 2011 08:38 PM

^Get the PS3, it's worth it lol.

Does anyone know if Utada won at the VMAJ?

Mirrorcle Monster 26th June 2011 09:07 PM

^ results will be shown on July 2nd

Not Fade Away 26th June 2011 09:10 PM

^Ahh, gotcha, Thanks! :)

kumiko.koda 27th June 2011 11:41 AM

I have watched the Wild Life Blu-ray yesterday and the concert is awsome

First Love and Flavor of Life were so good ♥.♥

Minttulatte 27th June 2011 05:01 PM

I haven't seen WILD LIFE yet. There was a site where I found could download it but as always, I lost the stupid link eventually. >.>

This is a streaming version, but it's amazing quality: http://blip.tv/provide-show/utada-hi...-12-08-4505631

It's also been up on that site for a while, so I doubt it'll be taken down any time soon.

This is where I watch it, lol.

EDT: I forgot to mention -- it randomly cuts off near the end of Prisoner of Love for some reason and comes back in at the very beginning of Colors. However, this isn't a huge deal because Colors is right after Prisoner of Love, so you don't miss any possible in-between songs.

Minttulatte 28th June 2011 01:55 PM

^Thank you very much for the link. :) <3

AyUta 29th June 2011 12:10 AM

Thanks!

koumori 29th June 2011 06:43 PM

Thanks for the link too :) :heart

sesshy 29th June 2011 10:39 PM

I've seen WILD LIFE live through live stream. I thought it was worth staying up till 6am to watch! Hahaha, but I was so sad she didn't perform HEART STATION. It's my all-time favorite song of hers. :( But the concert was awesome and it was good to see her perform one more time.

Polyrhythm 29th June 2011 10:51 PM

LOL I stayed up too and was so out of it the next day. Almost missed my math final the next day....

sesshy 30th June 2011 02:00 AM

^ I was debating if I should or not. XD But my friend goes: "Let's watch it! I mean we can actually say we've seen Utada live!" So we did. Then right when I went to sleep, my mom came in 5 minutes after I curled up bed. Phew. But hey, it was worth it!

Not Fade Away 1st July 2011 01:13 AM

I didn't stay up to see it cause I knew it would be on Tudou like 5 hours later lol.

I love my sleep toooo much. The stream I posted is a much higher quality than the original though.

bluegie 1st July 2011 03:51 AM

I think watching live streaming is very different from watching the stream afterwards. When I watched the live streaming, I was so excited, felt like I was in the arena. After that I rewatched the stream with my brother (he had school so he didn't watch live with me), I felt like watching dvd. It's still exciting to watch the live again, but the excitement was lessen.

Polyrhythm 1st July 2011 04:23 AM

Having been to an actual Utada show...I think the stream was just as exciting...like when the Kuma video first came on, I was going nuts.

koumori 1st July 2011 05:06 AM

New goodbye for hiatus Hikaru~ 45th thread :heart

I can't believe we filled up this one :tipsy
