Changmin and Yunho talking about new tracks from TONE album (fragments of TV Guide September issue interview, posting only Homin's quotes on the songs)
Introduction ~magenta~ "I thought it sounds like a nursery rhyme. We tried this genre for the first time, and I was worried the song might turn into a real nursery rhyme when things go wrong (laugh). I thought this song could accentuate the charm of other songs, so sang it with a pure and simple mind." (Changmin) "Introduction is the representative track of the whole album. That's why I think this song represents Changmin and me making frantic efforts to make this album." (Yunho) Duet "The lyrics convey a message <<I want to protect the person I love at any cost>>. I think it's a manly way of expressing love." (Changmin) "The title <<Duet>> relates to us in a way. This song is a mixture of conventional style and a new charm of Tohoshinki. The lyrics are... I wonder if Changmin has such an experience, but I have (laugh). I did the recording, thinking back of my past." (Yunho) 幸せ色の花 (Shiawase Iro no Hana, Happiness-colored Flower) "When we heard the demo tape, we thought it would become a ballad representing more evolved Tohoshinki and so we poured our honest feelings into it. Especially Yunho worked on it with enthusiasm. After we completed the recording, he said <<I want to record this song again from the beginning>> and we did the recording again and then again. This is the most repeated song in the album and we put the largest effort into it." (Changmin) "The director said okay. But I asked myself <<Where is the limit of Tohoshinki? How far can we go?>> and thought <<We should put far more efforts! We can go further!>> This song is a long ballad of 6 minutes and 40 seconds. Tohoshinki has conveyed many magnificent ballads such as Bolero, but this time we have to express a song of 6 minutes and 40 seconds in this genre only with two voices. That's why we wanted to push us to the limit." (Yunho) ("Which is your favorite song?") "My favorite song is 幸せ色の花 we recorded again and again. It's a long song, and ballads are the genre where Tohoshinki has sung a lot of songs. Both of us worked on it really hard, so please check it out." (Yunho) Easy Mind "It's a happy song. I love the choir in the beginning...and Junsu looks really handsome! :D I listened to the previews of "TONE" earlier and some of the songs are quite nice (especially the ballads), but the rest sounds like songs I've heard before. Still...I won't judge an album based on previews! I'm looking forward to Tohoshinki's new releases! :heart |

When I was watching HoMin's performance, and when I was watching JYJ's new PV, I couldn't help but think about how the first songs I ever heard from them were Triangle and the Korean version of Rising Sun, and how far they've all come since then.

TONE is amazing. So many good songs. Back to Tomorrow, DUET, Weep, シアワセ色の花, Telephone, and Thank you my girl are my favorites. Basically all the ballads :) It was a pleasant surprise, I can;t believe HoMin could actually pull it off, but I probably should've never doubted :P I really wish I had preordered this album along with In Heaven, but I'll wait for a cheaper version to come out I guess... The only thing is... that 2011 version of Somebody to Love. It somehow just doesn't feel right. Seriously, all 5 men are just blowing me away right now. Both of their new albums are amazing. As much as I still want the 5 of them back together again (and always will), these recent releases convinced me that things are looking good in the future for all of them, in terms of their music, at least. |
I've listened to the album all the way through about 5 times by now. It's a masterpiece, for sure. I love "I Think You Know," "Back To Tomorrow," "B.U.T," "Duet," and all the singles. :heart The intro is really nice too. :heart

I just feel the need to say that I think U know needs a music video!!! omg its my favorite song on the whole album!!! is there any talk of what the next single will be? B.U.T is good but the beat stays bascially the same so it gets boring after awhile :\ Im so excited!!!!!! it took me awhile because while i have really liked TVXQ as homin (I kinda wish they would have changed their name because now i feel the need to specify which TVXQ lol) since the beginning but after Tone i can officially say that i am IN LOVE with homin (well, changmin was always my man anyway so they had a leg up haha :P)
