I was wondering why there wasn't more action. Overall, I like where this is going. The song did not suit the cinematography, and this is my only complaint. I really liked the time twist. But, at least we know now that another album/single is on its way. Maybe that will be the actual news for this week after all?

My question is: Is Winter diary NOT the continuation of Summer diary? There were no references at all, and I was expecting references. Maybe there will be in the next video? Otherwise, I am so confused regarding what Ayu is doing here.

Well, much respect to Ayu for actually investing in a PV for the first time since Party Queen. I feel like this is a big throwback to Love songs era PVs, but still, I like that there's actually a point to watch.

My only issue is SHUYA wearing too much. But this is still the best I've seen him in a PV with Ayu. He looks mature, stylish, and relaxed... like he's had some time to enjoy life since leaving Ayu's dance team. He's gained weight too! He's like got a tummy now! But it's hard to not find him attractive; he has a million dollar smile and he smiles and frowns with his eyes.

I hope Ayu continues to invest better in the PVs. I miss when ayu took PVs seriously. A bad PV only makes the song look bad.

Eh, it just wasn't... convincing? The watch didn't fit the PV and felt too much like product endorsement. Plot is Love Songs era part 2, and Ayu... you face doesn't need to be a permanent pout. Made her look like she didn't know what to act. Summer diary was better, it just worked better overall for me.

I enjoy the filming, the concept (i really really like that it's christmas song but with dark background) but sth is off. And HA I was right. The idea of the PV is quite good, I like this side of Ayu doing things that aren't safe, but that's not the right song for this kind of video, at all. It makes the whole thing feel weird and out of place.

Watching the teaser again, and that video was a little more exciting that the actual PV. I think it's because of the way they edited.

The 'too be continued' goes on most of her videos on youtube. They don't usally upload it all and might even just be a short version. The full will probably be on the next cd/dvd she releases. Might even be like glitter/fatted with non song parts in it

I'm surprised at people judging an story MV before we even have the full story. The "to be continued..." in this case could just be because it's a short version, or another MV in the album will have the continuation, whatever the case, there's no point judging the story before it's complete.

But I must say, I really like what we have so far, it's well done imo. And can we stop to appreciate how Ayu's Christmas song MV starts with her carrying the body of her dead boyfriend with a trail of blood behind? :laugh

I surprisingly liked the video, though the song doesn't suit it at all. I think this is the best PV she released since Virgin Road.
But the fact it's a short version is a joke.
I bet the full video will be watchable after you enter some kind of code that you got with the re-edition of A BEST.

Plot-wise I don't know how to feel about the video... It's clearly a lot sadder than the aura of the song but contrasting must have been the idea. But, I don't get how this follows Summer diary, they're SO different D: Guess gotta wait for the full thing

Visually-wise, THE PV IS GORGEOUS! Outfits, hairstyles, scenarios AND camera are all great :heart I am so happy to see she stepped up the game in this PV, I can't wait to see the rest of it! (and wonder when we're gonna get it) btw besides the ending of the song, they also cut a bit from the intro, didn't they?

Is it me or ayu may have killed Shu-ya in the pv? In the scene where they are lying on the bloody floor, ayu doesn't seem dead to me. Even her position is a bit weird.

The whole high-angle shots give another dimension to this pv. Ayu is giving a contemporary and artistic side to her recent videos that make me enjoying her videos a lot. Especially with this one and last minute mv.

The storyline matches with her lyrics. Basically, Ayu is saying that her link with a precious person was deteriorated. She would like to cast a spell to change that. However she knows that she could do anything and everything nothing'll change.

The first part of the video is showing happy and lucky Ayu and Shuya. They are winning a lot of money in casino and can do whatever they want. It is the spell she is trying to cast.
The second part "after the back to the past" is what really happened. That reality won't be deleted even with a spell.

I really like the video and I'm pretty sure to be continued means it's a short version, not that there will be another music video completing it. But of course I could be wrong.

But about Summer diary, the "to be continued" was in the full version tooand Winter diary was supposed to be its continuation but they don't feel like the same characters, specially not Shuya. Of course they could have changed in between videos but... it seemed out of character to me.


By the way, the wtach is clearly a sign that she and Lady Gaga are collaborating, open your eyes people!! (Just kidding, of course)

I really enjoyed the video despite the song not being the greatest. I'm actually pretty interested in the story as well. I'm guessing they're playing some sort of Robin Hood character "steal" from the rich give to the poor? I mean they're just tossing the money around, letting it fly away in what looks like a poor neighbourhood. But they ended up losing all the money gambling so they resorted to desperate measures?? It's interesting. Plus I love the aerial shots <3

The best video since Virgin Road (imo). Really enjoyed every second of it, and happy the intro got cut. The scene at the start, when she's pulling Santa's (Shuya's) body is so dark, but so mindblowing... I even got goosebumps watching the video. Really, a job well done! :)

I hardly think the intro of the song was cut out of the MV. It's most probably just not included in the short version, but will be in the full MV with some more scenes in the beginning.

^ The last bit of the last chorus is cut out ("futari wa diary no naka de eien da yo", the MV stopped before the bolded part), and the ending of the song. There's still almost 40 seconds of the song left lol

I think it's kinda like Last minute: they only cut the very ending. But in Last minute they didn't even say that it was not the full PV. I think they'll just show how Shuya was killed and that's it. Or maybe they'll insert a scene without music after an abrupt cut, and then play the ending afterwards.

That's what I think it's gonna happen. I think that the scene right before the "to be continued..." where the song stops abruptly is going to be a scene without any music playing, and then the song restarts after the robbery.

I was a wee bit disappointed when I read that it was a short version so thought I would hold off watching until the full version comes out. But then I saw the length and changed my mind.

I like the PV and look forward the full version, although I can't imagine there's that much more to come.

I thought this was not a short version either. I like the sudden ending. Gives me monochrome vibes and that ending always intrigued me. Whether it is or is not the final ending for Winter Diary PV, I think it is good as it is right now.

That being said, I like that Ayu choose a different style than something that would fit the song. However, at some times it really does not connect at all. Hopefully will another video finish the Summer/Winter Diary tri/quartet/sixxxxxx (or whatever) - logy with some explaination where this is going. I thought Virgin Road - Last Angel and Love Song were hard to understand. This one does not give me a clue at all.

To be honest, the PV was REALLY WELL MADE!!!

Seems like there is this darker tone of how the path one takes depends on luck and fate. And for this case, it life spun in the worse way. Love the cinematography and aerial shots!!

and even if one would layer a rock song or another sad ballad over the PV, I think it would still fit AHAHAHHA.

To me the song is sort of like, what could of been, with the lyrics, and the pv is sort of like that too, showing the evens of if they were lucky, and if they were not

The video is kind of interesting but it's still not good. It's like she keeps working with people who have no idea how to make great music videos. The song is also really hard to listen to and doesn't go with the music video at all. Fail.

LOVE this. Wish people looked at the lyrics and also consider the artistic vision before saying that the music video is wrong or how it doesn't match the song.

I LOVE this PV so much. It was well made and the idea was really cool. I wonder what happens next though since it had a cliffhanger ending with "to be continued..." text on the right bottom corner lol. I'm very curious. Is this PV continued in the new album's PVs? And will it be as confusing as that Virgin Road/Last angel/Love song story? That one really gave me a headache lol. I hope this story won't be like that.

Also reminds me of Feel the love that even though it was labeled as short version, it didn't look like one because the cut only the few seconds that showed the fat girl hadn't really become Ayu.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I love winter diary as a song. It hits all my ayu ballad triggers, so I was looking forward to this video. And it turned out pretty good! The wintery happy bells masks the bittersweet lyrics, which totally is in line with the music video. It's been a long time since an ayu pv have this much quality like the bird eyes camera shots. I'm generally excited for what's there to come.

On a lighter note, this is why you don't have a fling with some bum in your vacations (from summer diary). Haha :D

I really like the PV, it looks well done and I love the part where it rewinds. Even though I kind of wish the music video had more of a Christmas theme, like No Way To Say, to better suit the song, I'm still happy with it.

It's a good and interesting music video but I think it would have fit better with something like WARNING. The lyrics of Winter Diary might fit the video but the feel of the music doesn't.

Minor annoyance- close up of Ayu's eyes with contacts. Ayu's eyes without contacts are beautiful. Is she still even promoting contacts?

Btw when was the last time we saw her without weird contacts? Every time I watch her lives I can barely look closely at her eyes because they make her look kind of scary.

Maybe Winter Diary and Summer Diary are part of the same timeline ?

I imagined that the beginning of the whole story would have been the Summer Diary PV, when she meets SHU-YA for the first time. Then, next year or several years later, after they break up, she contacted him and reconciliated with him (-> that would be the theme of Spring Diary). Later, she goes see him (-> the last scene of Summer Diary).
Then, she has a plan to make money, so they elaborate together the perfect robbery (-> that would be Autumn Diary/Fall Diary).
And finally, they go to China and put their plan to execution, but SHU-YA dies in Winter Diary.

And... Ayu widowed SHU-YA in.... SEASONS (black dress, black veil).
