Life Sucks MV was not supposed to be launched this early, she filmed it in advance because fans loved the song and asked repeatedly for a music video. Jolin did not expect that this song would become this popular.

Jolin said: “If you encounter something that doesn’t go well, you can be lazy in order to find the motivation to move forward.”

Besides the "usual" English, Japanese, and Korean subs, this time Jolin's team added pinyin.

Next MV will be Lady In Red. It has already been filmed. It's a horror story with special guest Dee Hsu (Xiao S) !

So happy to see the video for Life Sucks - it's nice watching with the English subtitles too. Can't wait for the Lady in Red - think it may be my favourite from Ugly Beauty! Well that or Unnecessary Evil.

Love the music video and definitely looking forward to Lady in Red! The English subs are really nice to have. I really hope she does another international tour, I missed the last one and would love to see her live.

It's in the works, they're writing the script and searching for a production team at the moment ! Jolin hopes to launch it this year.

About UGLY BEAUTY sales by the way, we don't have sales figures for Taiwan unfortunately but it's Jolin's best-ranking album (and songs) in years (both physically and digitally), since the release of Butterfly I would say.

On QQ Music (China's biggest digital media store), Jolin sold 272,108 copies as of today and got certified Diamond (Diamond = 250,000 copies). It's the best-selling album ever by a female singer from HK & Taiwan and the first album ever by a female singer from HK and Taiwan to get this certification.

On March 8th, for International Women’s Day, Spotify Taiwan revealed a ranking of the most popular female singers on their site at the time. Jolin ranked #1.

Everything started when a Taiwanese man, "Bingo Bilingual", shared an English translation of Ugly Beauty in the comments of the lyric video.
Jolin's staff noticed it, and they asked him if they could use his translation for the MV. Korean and Japanese subs have been added later.

The video is amazing - it just looked gorgeous! All her videos have been great this era! I wish my faves (Hikki, Ayu, Kumi) could make amazing videos like they used to.

This is even more amazing than I thought it would be! So far definitely my favorite era music video-wise. I thought her acting was really good in this as well. I wish the making ofs were captioned too, would love to understand more about the thought process behind it. And I would also love a bluray of all the videos!

I've actually seen a few negative feedbacks yesterday (looks like they were from Malaysian and Singaporean forums) lol

"It was not necessary to make such an over the top MV" "It's so-so" or "I like her old songs better, this one sucks" "Why is it bad to want that things don't change".

These comments mostly come from old listeners/fans who miss a lot the "cute Jolin" from Magic and Castle. They are very much into mainstream C-Pop (ballads, cute songs) and don't like other music styles.
I remember that during Myself era I could read these kind of comments a lot "I miss Princess Jolin", "I don't really like her new style/music" "I miss songs like Say I Love You or It's Love", and so on.

I was travelling around Taichung, Taiwan earlier and went to the Lin Family Mansion where Jolin and Namie shoot "I'm not yours". I was quite surprised how blend the site look like (still very pretty for a century old building though) without the lightning and visual effect :laugh

and since it looked so different, we even asked for the staff where exactly they shoot the PV, the staff asked if I came just because of her. Well... urm not really though but technically yeah.

A bit behind on the PVs, just saw Karma and Romance -love them both but was expecting more story wise from Karma. The set up was great but it felt so short. Really liked the story in Romance, her acting in these has been so good! Cant wait for the rest.

Great video for Romance! I actually wasn't expecting that ending, so that was a nice twist for me! And the MV made me appreciate the song more too since I usually skipped it during album listens :laugh

Album of the Year was brought back in the GMA in 2017 after being "abandoned" for 13 years, it's a category with no language limitation, every album nominated in every "Best Album" (Mandarin, Hakka, Taiwanese, Aboriginal) category was nominated in this.

She's considered the biggest winner of the night because she won awards in 2 of the most important categories of the GMAs.

Just in case you're interested, she lost Best Female Mandarin Singer to Sandy Lam, and Best Mandarin Album to Shi Shi's Shi's Journey.

Definitely deserved Album of the year. she just does something that nobody else in chinese music does. And really amazing that she won song of the year too. Womxnly has such an important message and is a great tribute.

The jury revealed what made Ugly Beauty win in the end over all the other albums for AOTY: Basically its concept can speak to everyone, and Taiwanese society, who endured hardships this year, was cheered up by Jolin with a positive album, it healed them in an entertaining and enjoyable way.

The first dates will be at Taipei Arena: December 30th, 31st (with countdown to Jan. 1), January 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th. Full tour schedule will be revealed little by little, as usual.

Myself World Tour had one date in London, and PLAY World Tour 2 dates in Vegas ;)
