I think the decision for hall tour is best for her ear condition. Hall has better accoustic, not too loud. Compare to Arena.

Nevertheless, she looks stunning!!!

Not the same, this one got different pattern on the upper part.

The dress you mentioned she wore it again in the Merry-go-round PV without the crinoline of course

Well she didn't seem to have any trouble performing in a stadium at A-nation this Summer. Anyway, i hope the real 20 anniversary will be in an Arena because the production This Hall tour looks quite cheap compares to her last arena tours

BlackSilence 7th September 2017 09:58 PM

somehow i'm not the biggest fan of how she's singing those two. She is on pitch, but some parts just sound a little strained for me, not to mention that vibrato is a bit too much. It's like the 2007-8 when she had that fake one going on. It seems to be making a comeback lately.

I love the setlist and she sounds so good on that ballad medley, she's glowing!! thanks for the recording!

voltron 7th September 2017 10:22 PM

That's probably her best Dearest performance is a really, really long time.

But, to be honest, Dearest is one of the few songs that I just haven't cared about live for 10+ years. Even her performance of it at A Museum wasn't that great, IMO, and that was just a couple years after it was released. I think I hold it to a really high expectation because when the song was a single, her TV performances were all so freaking fantastic -- probably the pinnacle of her TV lives. Over the years as her voice has deepened and she's used her lower register more, she just doesn't have that same softness to her upper register that she used to have. Her upper register tends to be much more airy now.

But all that said, it was a solid performance if nothing else. :)

Mirrorcle Monster 7th September 2017 11:05 PM

WOW she sounds amazing on Dearest :O, im very pleasantly surprised

AyuGAME 8th September 2017 05:02 AM

I think despite all sadness that Shingo-san leave the troupe, but I feel her tour music arrangement leaning towards to fresher and more modern feel to it.

I do think working with new people, younger persons will help her.

But Ayu is very faithful person, she love to work with same person, a little bit comfort zone maybe for her. Look at her costume designer its the same person since maybe 10 years ago.

Evolution7/4 8th September 2017 07:56 AM

Is it just me or did she finally stop wearing contacts on stage?

Aderianu 8th September 2017 08:18 AM

Vocal really good, but I can't stand her vibrato!

Refix 8th September 2017 09:09 AM

I like the new dress more than the previous unflattered wedding dress. Maybe because it's now an A line, not a bowl. She looks great. She sound decent, but yeah, that dramatic vibrato...

Are the music recorded since there's no band? That kinda feel... empty. I would rather having a band than some unnecessary people trolling around on stage.

melissalove 8th September 2017 09:23 AM

Ayu killled how beautiful you are, I cried the whole time. Dearest though wasnt great specially at the end.

EndOfTheWorld 8th September 2017 09:23 AM

Dearest sounds so tender. I hope her vocals remain healthy until the recording date.:heart

Toniayu123 8th September 2017 09:41 AM

They should record the first day instead lol So glad to see a rock setlist and that the vibrato is coming back.

There was some performance during the end where they did a close-up of her face on the screen and it looked like she had put contacts in.

Also, I am wondering anyone who went to the second date - were the fans who were picked to go on stage all wearing the tour merchandise? A friend of mine who attended as well said that perhaps it is something they look for when selecting fans from the audience.

I recently partly rewatched an old Dearest performance and it had that high-but-coarse quality to it that her voice had back then. It sounds as if she didn't warm up enough before singing or something.

I'd hope she'll take a break, geez! Do you really want her to tour until February, then again from April? I think she should have the surgery and rehabilitation she wanted to go through.
She probably won't take any break, though, because it's her 20th anniversary. -_-

i would want that but...it just seems weird that the tour isnt spread out to then. I think a concert on the 20th Anni date itself would be very monumental. April 8th 2018 is a SUNDAY hmm

but ok I guess a new release would get that same effect since after all, she released her DEBUT SINGLE on that day.

But i think her 20th Anniversary is gonna be filled with tours subsequently

truehappiness 8th September 2017 06:37 PM

The tour is not spread out to then because this tour was 'the beginning'. I suspect the actual tour will take shape in a much different way.

Actually, because stadiums are open air, the sound usually isn't as loud.

Some of the loudest concerts, I've been to have been in halls and not Arenas (more compact space can result in loudness I suppose). What will be good for Ayu's ears is not having a live band.

they played that piano instrumental piece at CDL last year and I was so excited I thought OMG I'm gonna see it live and no! she didn't perform it.

I don't think she should push herself just because it's her 20th anniversary. I'm actually quite disgusted how people - so-called fans! - are pushing her to keep this going. I'd understand a live on the 8th, but I'd rather she'd take it easy and release an album around that time.
The 10th anniversary wasn't really anything special and the 15th seems to have been quite the mess, so to me personally she doesn't really need to do anything special. avex could do something "lazy" like release remastered albums or something.
I care more for her well-being than for stupid numbers.

Me too. I also would love to see a special live perfomance on the 8th, however I don't want Ayu to push herself to the extreme. I would rather have a remastered album or something than see Ayu's health begin damaged permanently.

For her 10th we got an Asia tour, mirrorcle world, Green/Days, and A Complete ~all singles~, special set ayupans (mirrorcle world and marionette) and Ayu no Deji Deji Nikki 2000-2009 (the first big book one) and posters.
Her 15th though, seem to be something that died before she did it, as in the hype that what her 15th was suppose too be, to what we got, but its still a nice tour, but nothing compared to her 10th

She's already made her decision that she wants to keep going, and, as a fan, I respect her decision.

If she changes her mind and decides to rest, fine. If she decides to tour and do something big, also fine. And I won't try to influence her decision, because I'm just a fan, I'm not her friend or family and I don't know her full story and reasoning behind why she chose to do whatever she's doing. So, as a 'so-called fan', I'll just keep supporting whatever she's doing because I don't own her.

I care about her well-being, but maybe her emotional well-being is more important to her and that's why she's choosing to still tour instead of giving up. Or maybe she can't recover at all and will lose her hearing anyway, so she wants to do the thing she loves while she still can. We'll never know the complete truth.

I meant the type of microphone. Seems like she's had the same one for at least 10 years and that mic from pics looks newer. This one is decorated same way though.

The setlist really is great. It's nice that she's opening with alterna. Can't wait to see more pictures! After having few tours with fan photos, it's weird to just wait for the official ones again.

Well if 90% of the seats are split between TA (global and domestic) and say 10% of the seats for general sale, if you survey enough people from TA you'll get as many people who got good seats as those with bad seats. I think the chances are equal between global and domestic TA, or maybe global members get some slight positive discrimination but I think changing address to domestic TA is more risky. Ultimately it shouldn't matter in my opinion. I bet almost everyone in the first three rows was from japanese TA, simply because many more japanese TA members were present for a given show than global members?

First show for Fukuoka was great! Setlist was the same as first two Yokohama shows. Show started around 7.15pm and wrapped up a tiny bit after 9pm. Ticket collection for global TA members closed at 5pm... Two hours before the show... A bit early :/

Anyhow, I was seated in tenth row, very close to the stage, unlike the arenas where there is a considerable gap between the front row and the stage, there was almost no gap at Fukuoka Sun Palace Hall.

Alterna was amazing performance, started off with Ayu surrounded by her dancers in a pose while the opening lines of Alterna played through the speakers, Ayu doesn't sing these parts. (The only HEEEY hey hey hey HEEEY parts she sings is at the end of the song) All of Ayus dancers are wearing creepy white masks. The rearrange to sit in a line on the long dinner table and take off their masks midway through the song. Flashes of the Alterna MV are playing on the screens by the way. During Alterna Ayu takes on the role of puppet master as part of the choreography.

Her vocals were just so good, projected so well, no shouting, no off key, I haven't heard her sing this well ever and the first time I. Saw Ayu was 2007 CDL.

Microphone was also a great performance vocally, bits of the MV are also playing on the screens. Choreography for this song was pretty good as usual. Before the final chorus, Ayu runs off stage as the screens part, and as the final chorus starts, she shoots up on the elevated stage to sing the final chorus.

GAME starts, and she actually sings the intro to the song, don't recall her ever doing that. Ayu gets lowered backstage again after this verse, and Timmy appears. Timmy is dressed outrageously the entire show, he has a few costume changes, all different corsets but same boots and stockings. Timmy is background vocals on some songs, and also acts as an MC, for the show... GAME, is a game between heaven and hell with the words heaven and hell intertwined in the screens behind Ayu as she sings. They also use the love heart props for this song.

Dearest and how beautiful you are were great. I love Dearest and finally got to hear Ayu sing it full live!!! Her voice was almost perfect up until the second chorus of Dearest where she strained a tiny bit, but the rest of it was really good, as was how beautiful you are.

After the ballad segment, the dancers choose 4 girls and 1 guy to go up on stage, they go backstage to be briefed I assume, the silver streamers come across the stage and then 1Love starts, good vocals again and fun choreography that's new.
During Shake It, Ayu twerks...... And slaps her butt... And twerks some more... It was interesting haha. Midway through the song, the boy chosen from the audience appears on elevated stage sitting on a chair. Ayu takes her earpiece off and asks for his name and then she introduces him to the crowd and is then walked down on to the stage via the stairs. He gets danced on by Ayus female dancers and then by Ayu herself! He was a very good sport and got into the singing and dancing. During the ONE TWO THREE FOUR bits of the song, Ayu gave him the mic to sing those bits.

Step you comes on, my fave song! This is one of the songs you can tell if she is lipsyncing or not as she has lip synced this song in the past, and given she was delivering consistent vocals tonight I have reason to suspect... But I really think tonight was 100% live!! Midway through the song, the 4girls are escorted out by a female dancers each and are taught on stage a simple choreography to do during the Step you chorus. During the outro Ayu goes up them all and gives them a hug and naturally the freak out, it was very cute.

Kiss o kill and Free & Easy used more Christian symbolism, and mock crucifixions obviously fit with the theme of Sacrifice. Her vocals were once again so controlled and on point, I was just in awe, even my partner who had been watching some live Ayu YouTube videos was preparing for the worst tonight but was pleasantly surprised. During these two songs, videos of churches are played in the background, and Ayu gets up on the cross (lowered down from above) at the start of Free&Easy. She only has one hand on the cross as she has to hold the mic, I reckon a hands-free mic would have worked really well for this performance.

Fly high and Mirrorcle world were fun songs to end the show with, nothing out of the ordinary here.

The time between end of main set and start of encore was fairly quick, like probably five minutes? Sometimes at her arena shows it's 10 minutes or slightly longer... Probably allows for more ppl to go to bathroom I suppose.

WORDS was great live, sounded great again, the lyrics were playing on the screens.

During the MC, I don't understand Japanese, but I could make out she was thanking all the people who came out to the airport that morning to see her, ZIN came out and did a rap for 4 lines which the crowd responded to, went over my head haha. Ayu then drew the winner of the signed Ayu love heart, and then kicked into the final three songs!

I'm going again tonight, can't wait! My highlights were definitely Alterna, microphone, Dearest and Free & Easy. Least enjoyable were Shake It and HBYA for me. Hope tonights show is just as good and I don't walk away with the conclusion she lip syncs the show :P

Thanks for the report HilaryDuffFanboy!
So excited I'm attending the 2nd chapter on 11/21, my very first Ayu live ever, and with many of my favorite songs (and definitely the third chapter in Nara as well)

I'm dying to see alterna and Mirrorcle World live omg!!
Not interested by Shake It but hey, the rest is so good for once!
Hope her vocals stay good until the end of the tour...

I don't know why but the thought of ayu spanking herself and lap dancing bothers me a bit. I know it shouldn't but it does.

Thank you for the review, HilaryDuffFanboy! I was waiting for a detailed one and you nailed it! <3 Will this chapter be broadcasted as well, right?!

Honestly, I have the 'headcanon' that Ayu is a wild as hell person in bed and such after what we have heard/seen after her marriages so this is not surprising at all.

Can we not.

I am so happy to hear good reviews. Chapter 2 seems to be a much better chapter. Definitely a morale booster for the fans.:luv2
It makes me wish more and more that they record the 1st day instead of the last day.
As for the butt shaking, I don't know.:laugh
I think Ayu just likes to let loose and have fun and isn't too shy about it.:tipsy

Based on the reviews, it seems like she got trained her voice and she had lots of improvement.

The miracles that a few singing lessons can achieve!

She should have done that sooner.

Wow, that seems really harsh! I do hope everyone got their tickets!

Thanks for the review. Was Free & Easy the full version? The last few times I've seen it performed it's always been shortened.
