SF please! (and let's hope I have a way to get there)

amorphose 31st October 2009 12:02 AM

I think it's quite irritating that some people are actually complaining about this... How can you be upset over Utada performing for her American and European fans that have wanted to see her in concert for so long? I understand some of you may not like her English material and want her to go back to making Japanese stuff-- but I find it to be extremely selfish behavior to just want her to give up.

She'll undoubtedly resume releasing Japanese material after this tour, if not before. So, please stop complaining and let us that actually appreciate this decision enjoy it. Thanks.

CoriKaru 31st October 2009 05:02 AM

I was expecting some Japanese material at the start of next year perhaps, but now I don't know. The tour is short though so there's still a chance. This tour is really for the fans so I don't expect anything big to come from this where it'll pull her away from Japan. Like Sephora.

OMG.. I think I would die of hapiness if it's true hahahah

Update from U-blog:

It's official! I'm gonna start saving up :D

I'M SOOOOO COMING TOOOOOOO!!!!!
Oh god XD I'm all hyper now!
I've been waiting for a tour with a concert in Europe for such a long time >//<;;;
ZOMG XD
13 November they start selling those tickets? Dibs on those!!! *zet een tentje op bij de locale tickettenboer*

@Corikaru; (did welcome you back, wb! XD ) I think it's possible for her to sing us a new song? :o
It's not that unusual to do for artists under a US label..
Probably a lot of English songs, though..
I'd love to see a live version of Deep River, I soooo hope she's going to sing more than just her TITO album ^^;

mellody 31st October 2009 04:10 PM

No Japanese Material until next spring, maybe summer...

Another news...

I think there's a small chance she may release a Japanese single in January, before the tour starts because of how close she seemed to having it done in her recent blogs.

No you didn't, but I was waiting. :p
Welcome back yourself. :D

I'm thinking if she does sing any Japanese songs, she may save 1 or 2 of them for an encore.

Being that this tour is so small scale, perhaps the actual duration of the performances will be small too and she might only do like a handful of songs, which means she wouldn't even have to do everything from "This Is The One" or even take anything from any of her other Albums either.

Of course we'd have more fan uproar and upheaval such as what happened with Sephora.

AyUta 1st November 2009 12:38 AM

geez, she better come to san jose, or at LEAST SF....or i'll be pissed at her and never buy her stuff again! :grumpy...>_>

My heart literally stopped for a second until I realised it said O2 rather than OZ, as in Australia.

Stop playing with my heart Utada. :thud

:laugh That sucks, lol. Well, maybe she'll come to Australia one day. It's not like it's very far from Japan. You should start a petition for all the Aussie fans. :P

Howdie, thanks! XD *glomp*

And yes, I've been thinking about that too.. 800 seats (in London) is really not that much! But HEY, I thought it was going to be February 12th?
Now it's February 14th? o-O;
And dear god, I need someone to stand ready to buy a ticket for me there XD
800 seats will be sold out in one hour or something the like!

Okay, quit the fan rant, back to the concert... I agree with you CoriKaru, she'll probably save them for an encore..
How much songs will she be able to sing?
She'll perform without a doubt Come Back To Me, MCML, very probably Me Muero and maybe two or three other songs.
And I'm REALLY sure she'll be singing some Exodus stuff, like Devil Inside and such.
For an encore, IF there are japanese songs.. err... Maybe... Colors? Or Heart Station? (would LOVE that one)
Sorry for all the hyperness, but I'm very, very, very excited XD

I don't believe that the actual concert is going to be small.. Even if there are only 800 seats, Utada won't travel that much to only sings 5 songs or something the like <_<
Or at least, that's the positive part of me that is convinced of that..

@Keiichi_JPU; if we both manage to get our hands on a ticket, care to tag along? *belgian high five*

Andrenekoi 1st November 2009 03:54 PM

^If she is going to sing something onJapanese, it's most likelly her biggest hits... First Love, Automatic, Can You Keep a Secret...

Rogue 1st November 2009 04:54 PM

Heheh, you're talking about the songs from in the beginning of her career! XD Except for Automatic, I don't agree ^^;
I bet on the other hand that Sanctuary is going to be there or Simple&Clean in the encore ^^
Wonder if they will keep the same tracklist for all te concerts?

Picaflor 7/4 1st November 2009 05:06 PM

she better incorporate some japanese songs. 2 albums worth of songs isn't much. but I also want her to sing some exodus songs. she only had 4 at her last concert with really wasn't much.

I bet she will sing japanese songs at her concert though. if she performed exodus "utada" songs at her UU06 "utada hikaru" concert, I bet she'll have "utada hikaru" songs for her "utada" concert.

Andrenekoi 1st November 2009 05:21 PM

No, I'm not... First Love is her biggest hit, Automatic is her break-trough single and Can you keep a Secret was the best selling single of 2001 in Japan... those + traveling, sakura drops, colors, wait & see, hikari, addcted to you (her best selling single) and flavor of life, are her biggest hits... being first love her most recognized song (and the most covered one too)

Passion and Hikari are big among western fans, but if she sings something from Kingdom hearts, she is most likelly going for the english versions...

Polyrhythm 1st November 2009 08:00 PM

Cmon......any day now....I need tour dates >< Gotta make plans

FuNsTyLe 1st November 2009 08:58 PM

What I still can't really figure out... Will this tour be like a tour for existing fans that have known her from before her US-career, or is she going for a TITO-tour to have more fans that didnt know already know about her? I don't get it... 'Cause TITO is pretty much dead, it's not like she'll make some kind of breakthrough with it a year after its release just by doing a small tour... I think her little tour will just be a tribute to her hardcore fans really.

Andrenekoi 1st November 2009 09:55 PM

^Well... Gaga's album was released last year, and Just Dance was released on April of 2008... and her breakthrough for real was this year...

Hikki's small tour is not going to make her a top tier pop star, but more people is going to listen to her, and this is the better promotion she can get right now

AyUta 1st November 2009 11:40 PM

about incorporating japanese songs in her tour...i have a feeling she will since she sung some of her english songs in her UU06 tour.

FuNsTyLe 2nd November 2009 12:29 AM

I know GaGa actually got famous in that sort of way, I just don't see Utada doing it. I don't see this tour as a TITO-promotion, more like an "Oh well, I've gotten tons of support from my existing fans who love my jpop-music, I guess I could do a little tour for them". I'm very happy she is having some concerts here and there...and London... But I just can't understand why she would do it. It just seems so random and not thought through... And London? TITO wasn't even released there AFAIK... This Is The One never was, and never will be.

AyUta 2nd November 2009 12:55 AM

hikki's famous and all, just like ayu and namie, but she hardly does anything like them. she's like a freelancer in the business. i like that, but then again sometimes i don't lol. oh, and i'm talking about her music career in japan, not the US. they're two different stories, i'm sure.

amorphose 2nd November 2009 02:20 AM

^^Sometimes I wished she released as frequently as them, but in the end I'm glad she doesn't-- I think it would definitely take it's toll on her music if she did.

JackieRos 2nd November 2009 02:55 AM

that's true...that's why people never get tired of her. she makes us wait and when she announces something we get all crazy and her sales are really good. :laugh everyone misses her <3.

and omg i want those dates already. me and my best friend are planning on going if she has a tour date in SF. has anyone checked her official site to make sure she hasn't posted them yet? UBLOG doesn't get everything that fast, maybe they forgot her official myspace?

amorphose 2nd November 2009 12:37 PM

^^Wasn't her MySpace...? http://myspace.com/thisisutada

It's blank now and it only has one friend... o.O But it also says it hasn't logged in since 2007 which is impossible if I'm going to the right URL because she only made it at the beginning of 2009. Does someone want to correct me or is something freaking just going on with her MySpace?

AyUta 2nd November 2009 06:31 PM

^ whoa, that's awfully strange. :no maybe she abandoned that myspace account and moved on to FACEBOOK. i'm pretty sure she has an official facebook.

Crystal_Ageha 2nd November 2009 08:29 PM

Um, when I click on that link, it shows she has over 19000 friends, hah. >.> And I did catch a glimpse before if fully loaded, and it did say the last log-in was in 2007 (it doesn't show the log-in once it's loaded). But I remember I checked it a few months ago and it had a very recent date, so I don't know what that's about......

AyUta 2nd November 2009 09:20 PM

i would search facebook but i don't have an account to search with. i guess you have to have one to be able to search the site -_-;.

Maemi 2nd November 2009 09:47 PM

^ there is an official Utada's group, just like groups for other artists, but i don't think she has her own personal account o.O

JackieRos 2nd November 2009 10:02 PM

i clicked the link in the morning and there wasnt anything
but now is back

amorphose 2nd November 2009 10:26 PM

The MySpace page still is showing blank for me. No friends, no pictures and no info. Quite odd.

And she does have an official Facebook group (as mentioned before on Facebook musicians don't use accounts that you add as friends like MySpace; you become a fan.) However, as far as I know, she was never personally active with the Facebook page like she was with the MySpace page. I'm pretty sure the Facebook has always been staff managed.

Crystal_Ageha 2nd November 2009 10:29 PM

Maybe her page isn't loading right for you, Amorph? 'Cause it's still working for me..... Or maybe I'm just that cool, that only I can bear witness to Utada's MySpace!! :D:D:D (Oh wait, Jackie saw it....Guess that blows my cool-ness out of the water. -.-)

amorphose 2nd November 2009 10:33 PM

^Haha, are you logged into MySpace? Because I don't have an account there so that might be why I can't see it? But I used to be able to so unless they made some new changes I don't know why I can't see it.

And you're still cool even though you're not the only one who can see it! XD

Crystal_Ageha 2nd November 2009 10:38 PM

Nope, I'm not logged in, either..... How very freakin' odd! D:

(Yayz, lol.)

AyUta 2nd November 2009 11:54 PM

it's still blank for me too. oh well, looks lik we'll just have to wait for official news from UBLOG or utada.net...

Keiichi_JPU 3rd November 2009 12:03 AM

The London venue deleted her concert from their website..

I wonder what's up. Maybe it was supposed to be secret, or maybe they changed the venue.

CoriKaru 3rd November 2009 12:27 AM

That was and still is Utada's official Myspace. ('-')

It still works fine for me, showing the last log in date to be June 16, 2009.

amorphose 7th November 2009 04:20 PM

I'm predicting the announcement from EMI this month and a release date set for early January. I also hope it has a major tie-in with a drama or movie, that way she can keep promotion to a minimum and not be stressed out for her US/UK tour.

Then that way, everyone gets what they want. Those who don't care for her western career get a Japanese single (which also please those of us who do) and those of us who do still get this wonderful little treat of a tour~

[edit]
I've already wrote up the next thread in word pad~ xD I guess I'm a little excited since it's been so long~!

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c1...cingRupert.gif

But seriously. Thank god. That tour just isn't hitting the spot. I think this all the more demonstrates that this tour is just fan service (It'll be over fairly quickly), but she's really back at her Japanese Game.

Which I 100% endorse. :yes

Maemi 7th November 2009 09:20 PM

I can't wait, it only depends when she'll release it .... T.T

What about the tour then? o.O There wasn't even HS tour.... O.o

CoriKaru 7th November 2009 09:41 PM

Utada never was going to do a "HEART STATION" Tour.

Maemi 7th November 2009 09:46 PM

^ Yes, that's why I pointed it out. It's odd that she didn't do this tour, but she is going to do the promotion for her international stuff o.O Nevermind, it's important that we won't have to wait until spring (I hope so!) for new japanese single, and also the people who will see her in UK/USA will be also satisfied :cool

CoriKaru 7th November 2009 09:50 PM

Well knowing Utada, I don't really find it odd. She's released 5 Japanese Albums and has only been on 2 Tours. Her last one being in 2006. No one was really expecting a tour out of her at this point I don't think.

On another note, considering that GOETZ B. mixed "ULTRA BLUE", her more crazier music, this may be that something eclectic that Utada was talking about. Even though the title sounds like something off of "HEART STATION." Mood and all.

Maemi 7th November 2009 09:56 PM

You're right. I watched only Utada United '06 and Bohemian Summer. I wonder why she doesn't do tours more often, I think that's the most important part of someone's musical career. Especially when comes to Utada, she sings live perfectly.

I wonder if that's a ballad or some faster song. I don't know, I'd like another traveling or Flavor of Life. Why everyone got tired of this song? lol I can always listen to it :heart

CoriKaru 7th November 2009 10:16 PM

I hope it isn't a ballad. Sounds like it doesn't it? Although a title can sound like anything. I was never big on "Flavor of Life" myself.

I'm just looking for a unique, nostalgic and original melody. That's the most important thing to me in a song. I'm really hoping she comes up with something. Mid-Tempo to Fast is fine with me, but I really want a breathtaking melody.

So, you're saying it'll probably sound like ULTRA BLUE, then..? I liked the feel of that album, just didn't turn out to like a lot of the songs. But anything's better than HEART STATION, so I hope this will be the case!! :)

And.....YAY! New Japanese siinnnggllllee!! :D

amorphose 7th November 2009 10:51 PM

I hope it doesn't sound anything like HEART STATION or ULTRA BLUE. I want something newww. But if I had to pick between the two, I'd rather it be more like ULTRA BLUE. I'll be happy if we never hear the likes of anything from HS ever again.

I'd like a song with the same kind of speed as This Is Love or traveling. But I want a new flavor in her music!

the title, "Show Me Love", reminds me of sth lik "I Want To Know What Love Is" ^^

Mirai Noah 8th November 2009 05:11 AM

Woot, awesome that there's going to be a new Japanese single XD XD

CoriKaru 9th November 2009 03:55 AM

I'm curious. I'm trying to see if Utada's current image controversy may be overshadowing all of her different images up until now.

Has there every been another time where Utada's fans went into such an uproar over her image? I have a feeling it isn't as bad as things are seeming in retrospect due to how she is now.

People keep saying they want her long hair back, so I'm assuming everything was fine up until she cut it for HEART STATION yes? During her "DISTANCE" era when it was cut it seemed to be much more accepted than it is now due to the cut and her frame.

As soon as Utada grows her hair back out again, I'm assuming these bad image comments will fade away. :yes

Crystal_Ageha 9th November 2009 04:00 AM

I don't think the current hairstyle fits her, at least not right now. But that's not what has had me bothered about her image. It's the dark, overdone makeup she's been wearing on and off, and more importantly, it's how thin and sickly she was looking for a while. She's been looking much healthier lately, though.

amorphose 9th November 2009 04:46 AM

@CoriKaru It may also have something to do with the First Love look being unpopular. That look was pretty bland, so Distance was a welcomed change, I think.

Her DEEP RIVER and ULTRA BLUE looks were loved-- and the HEART STATION change-in-look was an unwelcomed changed, it seems.

Although I do prefer all her previous looks to this current one, it doesn't bother me.

KarenPang 9th November 2009 02:17 PM

finally a new Japanese single in the works D:

I hope it will be a nice song . It's kinda strange she hasn't released any new Japanese material for a while now

not to mention I haven't listen to her stuff for like ages , I should do that soon

mellody 9th November 2009 03:59 PM

Goetz B. works are Keep Tryin' & BLUE. (According to this site)
Someone also pointing out about the message in This U3 Blog Message that she also added that some "German magic" would be added to the music.

Can't wait for the song! :D

I guess because up until now, she's been "Utada: In Bones" and now she's picked up some weight and has gotten a little meatier. :eyebrow

^^Haha, we can only hope? I think she's much more attractive with some meat on her bones. Like during the EXODUS era.

NYC, NYC! Whoa, whoa~ YESS! :heart

Polyrhythm 9th November 2009 11:38 PM

Why is the chicago date listed as 17+ 0__________o I mean, I'm 17 and could totally go see her show but what about her younger fans??? Hope they announce more cities soon.

Where does it say that? The New York one better not be 18+ or something, because I too am 17! D:

it says 17+. However its very inconsistent. The new york date for example says 16+
http://www.livenation.com/edp/eventId/414781

and the SF and seattle dates both say all ages 0_o What's going on?

amorphose 10th November 2009 12:18 AM

^^It probably has to do with each separate venue. Some of them have bars and therefore they restrict the admittance to certain ages. When I went to see The Hush Sound at Club Diesel in Pittsburgh you had to be 16 to get in even though the bar was only on the second floor and you couldn't go up there unless you were 21. It was a small venue tour like this too (in fact, when they stopped in Chicago it was the same venue.)

PLEASE Nashville or Evansville >W< or Even Cincinnati ;___;

Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV @ House Of Blues / 01.30.2010 @ 8PM

amorphose 10th November 2009 01:32 AM

Okay... so... four cities left.

I'm predicting LA, a Texas city, a Florida city (Miami?) and a mid-west city. AND praying that mid-west city is Pittsburgh, Columbus or Cleveland. I can go to the NYC date but I will be severely inconvenienced to do so.

Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh! I can't say it enough. xD

Polyrhythm 10th November 2009 01:38 AM

Oh f-tastics....>< The Las Vegas date is 18+. WTF is going on! Whats with all the random age restrictions. That was the only date I couldve actually gone to conveniently. >< Well unless she does a weekend LA date which I doubt. I cant do the San Fran date. Its the night before my finals ><

amorphose 10th November 2009 01:59 AM

I really hope we get the remaining four dates tonight so I can sleep easy or I'll be on edge all day tomorrow.

I've already got the next thread ready for posting too~ It's been so long! :D haha

Crystal_Ageha 10th November 2009 02:47 AM

Those age restrictions are...stupid, to be simple and blunt, lol. I'll be eighteen next month, so not that it matters for me... But I do feel bad for anybody a few years younger who will probably never get this chance again, yet can't go simply because they aren't a year or two older. :\

amorphose 10th November 2009 02:53 AM

^^Totally agree. I remember back when she did the NYC Showcase and my parents were totally ready to take me there when we found out I couldn't go because of the open bar. :[

I was like 14 or 15 at the time? Maybe younger? I don't remember. But it really sucks. I'll smuggle in some youngsters with me! :D

Polyrhythm 10th November 2009 02:55 AM

Wasn't NYC showcase invite only? 0_o And yes. Its ret@rded. Just cause theres a bar. Turn on the TV when you get home at 4 PM. What do you see everyday? Alcohol references being thrown out like they're nothing. Seriously...

It was invite only for like press people and stuff. But they let so random number of fans go... There was a contest and everything (I think?) which I couldn't even enter. I was young and crushed. haha

I do remember one or two people from Utada-Online got to go though. (Miss that forum... :heart)
