So, what do you guys think of the album? I listened through it (it goes by quickly!) and I think it's a lot more lighthearted than the last album, which is nice. Her voice has improved as well, not as breathy as it used to be. I'm a big fan of 'Kuroneko tou Pianist no Tango', celmisia, and Lolitawork Libretto right now <3 They're all so nice. I like how cohesive the sound of the album as a whole is as well.

I can't say if it's better than Shinkshoku Dolce at the moment, but it's certainly on par. Kanon did a great job with this album.

I agree with you. The first album was more dark & that one is more light. Lolitawork Libretto stay my favorite song of the new album. I really love the mixing between french & japanese words.

I dont know ,she just sound so weird from the beginning of the album, (except the song that has a PV) I'm not a fans of her voice from the beginning, I just get hooked because she plays cello and her first two single sounds good, but that's all. I think that's it, I'll come back again if she has another PV with more cello solo part.

I really like the new album! My favorite songs are Kajitsu no Keikoku, Toumei no Kagi and Shoujo Shikake no Libretto ～Storytelling by solita～.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. These type of artists just don't do well in Japan, they somehow seem to be MUCH more popular abroad, particularly in France. Does anyone remember the J-Pop singer Rurutia? her discography is BRILLIANT and it's pretty similar to Kanon's style- yet in Japan she's NEVER debuted in the top 100. But, she's got quite a few fans in France.

And no matter how hard you kick DefSTAR's butt, I think they've taken the best possible step by promoting Kanon in Europe instead, where her style of music is actually appreciated. Yeah, they COULD'VE made sure a couple of songs from the album got an anime tie-in, which would have made the album a little more successful. Because anime soundtracks might be the only way her music would've gained some respect in Japan- since her style is NOWHERE near mainstream. So, asking Japan to remember an artsit like her after such a long hiatus, is asking for a bit too much.

Besides Kanon disappeared for over a year and came back when nobody would remember who the hell she is. If she really wanted to become one of those high-charting artists, she never would've done that. She would've sung more tie-ins, released more singles etc. Without doing that, I doubt even she expected the album to do any better. So maybe she really doesn't want to be one of those artists after all?

Wakeshima Kanon and An Cafe's Kanon team up for Shiki theme song

Mana-produced cellist/vocalist Wakeshima Kanon is pairing up with An Cafe bassist Kanon to form a musical unit, kanon×kanon, to sing the second opening theme song for the horror animation Shiki, called "Calendula Requiem" (カレンデュラレクイエム). The group has been dubbed a "genius musical unit from the 2.5 dimension" in the press release, this apparently being a fictional separate pocket of spacetime (whatever that means). The press release also describes the group as having a sound based around Japanese-ness. Wakeshima left a note at her official site, saying that she was happily surprised by the offer, since Shiki was an anime she was watching a lot of recently.

The song will debut as the opening theme song on the 14th of October, following Buck-Tick's song "Kuchizuke". Buck-Tick will be supplying the new ending theme song for the anime, "Gekki Reijin." "Calendula Requiem" will be released as a single on 17th of November, along with the B-sides "The Dollhouse" (ザ ドールハウス) and "Umigame Soup" (ウミガメスープ Sea Turtle Soup).

Shiki (屍鬼 Corpse Demon) is an anime based around the 1998 horror story by author Ono Fuyumi, which was adapted into a serialised manga by Fujisaki Ryū in 2007. The anime began airing in July 2010, and features voice acting from such people as Uchiyama Kōki, Ōkawa Tōru, Tomatsu Haruka and Gackt.

Wakeshima Kanon just released her second album, Shōjojikake no Libretto ~Lolitawork Libretto in July in both Europe and Japan. An Cafe's Kanon had been working as a member of the band until early 2010, when An Cafe went on hiatus.

I love Shiki, it's an amazing anime

Let's not forget though that an artist's succes is 75% promotion. At least for the general masses. The fact that she hasn't been succesful doesn't necessarily mean that "Japan doesn't love her". I never like sweeping statements like that. She's surely got all the attributes to play to a certain group. Cute, girly, wearing Lolita-inspired outfits, singing dark songs with a classical overtone and with a generally French-themed atmosphere. That's lolita-fan material right there. People have just never heared of her ; )

well at least everyone wouldn't need to wait that long for something new from Kanon to roll out

She was famous with her two debut single. Vampire knight is really appreciated in France. Moreover, when she release her debut album she comes to Fnac & sang some of her songs.

yeah I understand . If you watched animes especially Vampire Knight & Vampire Knight Zero , you definitely will hear of her songs

sadly for my younger sister's case , she did watched both animes but she didn't stayed on to hear the ending theme songs as she was quite creeped out by Kanon's material ;__; & she only bothered to listen to the opening theme songs which were both done by ON/OFF , LOL
