i like ayu's kimono!

she sang a little differently for rule [i'm not sure if that's her normal way of singing]
but it's not bad but somehow not powerful i think

She just performed at Kouhaku. I liked the performance very much. As expected, it was the ninjas+explosions thingy. I loved her outfit, kimono-styled top and shiny black leggins. She had a flower on her hair. I didn't get to take caps :( Her vocals sounded very good to me for what I can tell. She got great applause from the audience at the end.

so yeah... the KeyHoleTV channel of NHK was the right one!! But I woke up now (damn my alarm T___T) and couldn't see Ayu!! T____T

good performance and vocals wise...now exile performing too many dancers haha

^-I'm not sure, the Kouhaku one had a silver other sleeve while that one is one-sleeved. It could be possible though that they made a quick change to it or something, but I think it's not the same.

Don't like what she's wearing or her hair, but it fits with the theme and New Year I guess.

The performance was ok. Not as good as the last one.

the performance itself was visually stunning, I'd feel bad if I had to perform after her. Her vocals were as good as usual and I simply love the costume she had on.

I remember there were quite a few people screaming "Ayu" back in 2005, but I guess she didn't perform first that year and I am guessing that there simply weren't that many fans of hers there considering the CDL would start in a few hrs ^_^

I remember watching a old performance from Morning Musume years ago on Kouhaku when I didn't know anything at all about J-Pop and I remember thinking "Man, this audience doesn't care at all." They looked like they didn't even understand what was going on there. haha.

yeah.. while watching it and seeing how the audience were like mummys I remembered I always hate japanese audience... -_____- (it's not a hate, hate, it's only that I would die of happiness if I were in their place!!) I've seen only a few times a jumping/screaming/active audience... and some of this few times were fans from TA so... I don't know you but I would be jumping/dancing/singing happy even if I'm not a fan... for example I'm not a big fan of ai otsuka, but I wouldn't act like a mummy... maybe it's something cultural... the personality often change depending on the country but.. x)

^it depends on the audience. There are responsive audiences in Japan as well. Watch the Johnny's Countdown later tonight and compare that to Kouhaku - you will see the difference. ;) But generally speaking, you are right. They are often so quiet there and look bored - it makes me sad for the artists, but they are probably used to it.

yeah, yeah, I've seen also some audience that are active... sometimes even in an Ayu AT/CDL DVD when they show the crowd you can see guys/girls standing with a serious face without moving!! I always start shoutng: "YOU come here and give me your AT ticked if you aren't enjoying Ayu!!!" XDDD I also feel sad for ayu sometimes... she looks so happy, smiling, shouting... and I'd would feel bad and stupid if I were in front of so many people who are looking at me like this -_- xddd

Guys, you should at least try to understand Japan's mentality.
Some Japanese just aren't extroverted.
But that doesn't mean they don't love their artists.

I had a whole big response written for that, but I decided not to post it. I'm just trying to say that the Kouhaku audience is different. It's been like this for years now. But I have to write one thing: Please stop assuming that others are not trying to understand different cultures and mentalities, when you know nothing about us. It's an unfair thing to do.

I actually think the audience with ayu usually shows a lot of excitement..and it seems like they're actually showing it more than usual nowadays. It was really noticeable at AT08, then AT09, a-nation 09, and you were/evolution @ best artist. I don't think a lot of ayu fans made it to the newest Rule live or something :laugh

Please calm down, I just responded, cause some were "unfair" to the japanese audience to say it with your words. You also said that the japanese audience is calmer in general in another post. I agree with that, I just said that you have to consider the different mentality. I wasn't directed to anyone in particular.

^It just felt that you were directing it at me, and that mad me a bit angry. I am calm now, so it's ok. Written words are always hard to interpret and are easy to misunderstand. I'm also guilty of writing stuff that can be taken the wrong way, although that wasn't my intention. Glad that we sorted that out.

Did i already posted that she did fantastic in Kouhaku. Straight short hair makes her look really much younger than all the past You were... short hairstyles. I always wanted to see Rule in kimono..and now, it's awesome!!

I think despite all the rather screamish vocals they were not offtune all the way and all that. I think she still did really well. It seeemed liked the MSSpecial was a slipup..I love her hair in the CDTV

Rule was entertaining as usual, I never know what to say about her vocals during her Rule lives because it's always screaming but it works for the song. And this is the first time I've thought she looked sexy in that outfit, she looked soo good.

I think that in CDTV Special she had a wig. Of course it could be recorded, not live, but I don't think it would be recorded, for example, weeks ago.

It was recorded around 3 weeks ago, we knew about that for some time.
