From Urban Dictionary:

Fresh off

Fresh off refers to the feeling of euphoria that one feels immediately after smoking marijuana.

Knowing Rihanna, this is definitely what she was trying to get at with that title.

I appreciated the considerable differences between GGGB, Rated R, and Loud and really liked those three albums and even when TTT came out, although I liked only 2 or 3 songs, it was cool that she was doing something different. Since the dance shift pop has taken hip hop is no longer ubiquitous so she was doing something different than the lot; that fabulous hard gangstress persona thing... whatever. Ironically enough, her only two arguable "hits" from that album were both dance tracks.

I really liked Diamonds, and it's such a huge departure for her, so when I heard the 1:30 previews for the rest of Unapologetic I was like... this is just leftover tracks from TTT. This makes two albums in a row where, apparently, they're trying to sell the whole thing from just one strong track (WFL, Diamonds).

Whenever an album or single isn't up to their criteria people usually like to call it "rushed," but I don't know what else to call this... I mean, in the spring she said she wasn't planning on an album for 2012.

So yeah I don't plan on buying Unapologetic, or listening to it.

Honestly I want another Talk That Talk or Loud type of album lol. Unapologetic isn't really my cup of tea, but there are some songs that I LOVE such as Stay (this song have to be a single), Diamond, Right Now (another song that should be a single, hahaha) and Jump.

NintendoHTF1242 23rd November 2012 04:38 AM

I assume Right Now will become a single (it's club-hoppin' and features David Guetta, good enough). But Jump is my jam omg dat chorus holla

That's a shame. I feel every album is worth listening to, at least to get an opinion on it. :laugh

There's a few catchy songs on it, but nothing really caught me like some of her songs did in other albums. I'm disappointed and I feel she was either forced to release an album this year or..something. It just feels under par and she's capable of so much better.

I really do wonder if rihanna will debut at no1 in the USA
then again, you never know.

I think it's ridiculous how much Rihanna haters bash her for never having had a #1 album in America. She had SEVERAL worldwide #1 albums by now.
And even then, it's not like chart positions say anything about quality, Unapologetic remains crap even when it reaches #1.

TeamAyu2004 23rd November 2012 11:37 PM

Well, they are saying this this will be her first number 1...
which should should have done a long time ago... it is amazing that she has yet to hit this.

and hitting number 1 has nothing to do with quality, but relevance.

isthisLOL? 23rd November 2012 11:48 PM

And what pop stans call "relevance" is irrelevant to everyone but the record labels and stars themselves, so why would it matter?

ストロボ・EdGE 23rd November 2012 11:52 PM

I didn't know Western fans even payed attention to chart placement. If anything the Billboard Hot 100 is the general focus.

@Koumori
Honestly, it was all I could do to listen to TTT all the way through twice. Initially I liked maybe half the songs, but if I do listen to any of it it's WFL or WHYB.

I still really really like her though. Next November she could do another 360.

TeamAyu2004 23rd November 2012 11:57 PM

^ the hot 100 is the best bet.

@isthislol. just because you dont agree with it doesnt mean it doesnt matter. And it doesnt make everyone else a stan. Its relevant to people who care and getting a number 1 is a good thing, which means its relevant to them unlike some crap that some people spew out thinking its fact.

Please learn to just read what somebody writes and stop assuming crap that was never said.

Whether it reaches number one or not, there will be meltowns.

I don't...I didn't know she never had a number 1.

She was the top artist like forever. I assumed she had top albums.

Guess not.

Guess it also doesn't matter...cause she's still a top artist, and everywhere, and everyone still loves and hates her.

Besides, if it doesn't sell well, the labels will just whine and cry about internet piracy.

aijou.nai 24th November 2012 03:06 PM

Speaking of #1s, Diamonds is #1 on the Hot 100.

Shame it's called Phresh Out The Runway

that is so weird... lol

There are few different meanings of fresh off. Thats why she performs this song in Victoria Secret's fashion show, and then she ended up in smoking hot p*t at backstage.

Also, there is another meaning.. that may refer to Chris Brown's last gf..
