Yes, but I think (correct me if I am wrong) that the previous songs were at the time HAL was a group. Summer Love would be her first solo composition for Ayu.

voltron 6th September 2017 07:15 PM

^ Ahh, that would make sense. It didn't specify on the page.

oaristos 6th September 2017 09:18 PM

I loved "WORDS." It definitely sounds like a mix of something from A Song for xx and sixxxxxx, which is a really good thing. :)

Aga-chan 6th September 2017 09:24 PM

I found a yahoo auction where someone's selling the download code for 100k Yen. That's awful! lol

truehappiness 6th September 2017 10:18 PM

At that point I think they are just putting it up to show they have it since a lot of people will be getting it free, lol.

I feel the song is like a fusion between the past Ayu and present Ayu.

I think this song if it ever become one of the material for her new album, it's gonna be just a fuller. Generic, I haven't find any interesting thing about this song, I would like it if she sing in more heavy powerful tones like MAD WORLD. Still, this is my first impression, might have chance if I listen it more. I'm grateful she released a new song tho.

Summer Love is so much better.
I don't like WORDS much. Sounds so similar to other stuff she has already done and it's pretty generic.
I'll probably never recognize it, if I hear it played.

Nice that it is for free for the fans though.

truehappiness 7th September 2017 01:57 AM

I think the song is more about the message it has. Not every song has to be groundbreaking.

Well, I agree. But for me personally, good lyrics aren't enough. If I don't like the music, I don't like the song.

melissalove 7th September 2017 02:29 AM

This song sounds like a anime.

AyuGAME 7th September 2017 03:14 AM

I like the song, waiting for the lyics translation.

I think the mastering and mixing quality is kinda low.

EndOfTheWorld 7th September 2017 04:11 AM

Digital only songs from Ayu seem to always have poor mastering and mixing.:(

truehappiness 7th September 2017 05:33 AM

I think Tell All also had this issue along with We are the QUEENS?

Bigtop 7th September 2017 06:18 AM

Wow, Ayu simply airdropped a new song without any prior warning...

Aga-chan 7th September 2017 08:10 AM

I don't know why the song reminds me of crossroad. It's not similar, but it has a very "Ayu" feel.
I like it. ^^ But two of my favourite songs are It was and Life, so I have a kind of softness for these kind of, how I like to call them, little songs.

This is Ayu. Instead of fighting it, I came to think I should embrace it.
Endless sorrow and Heartplace as rock songs with strings felt really fresh back then, but since then it feels like every other rock-ish song includes strings.
There're artists who start feeling stale even only on their second album, or whose style hasn't changed much since their debut. Imagine a J-Rock band with a violinist - every song of them would be rock with strings. So instead of sighing or eye-rolling over rock song with strings No.736 or mid-tempo ballad with piano and strings No.1437, I should accept that there're things she likes and that she found her style. Her most exciting era has long past.

With Ayu possibly being on the verge of losing her hearing completely and subsequently resigning from singing, I'll take even the most boring songs if that means she'll continue singing.

Aga-chan 7th September 2017 08:57 AM

Because no one has posted a translation yet I gave it a try. ^^a
I don't like translating, and never will, but it should give an overall understanding of the lyrics until someone posts a more skillful translation.

WORDS

Though I haven't told you
That perfect room
I really hated it

I don't have a cozy place anywhere
In this controlled world
Where even breathing isn't allowed

Though I thought
"But if I laugh
Without making anyone sad anymore
Somehow (it) can be let go past"...

Alone I was hit by the rain
On that day when I escaped crying
Without completely knowing
What will be from here on even now

Only one thing, I wished that this night
Wouldn't dawn
"If there's a world where tomorrow doesn't come..."
I searched (for it)

Come to think of it, peaceful nights
And nights that revolve to the extend I roll over
They were like that

"I've become
Unafraid of mornings"
I want to believe that someday the day will come I can say that

The words "I love you" and
Just being by someone's side and
The moments that make me
Forget loneliness and

The warmth of held hands and
The tenderness of someone's gaze and
Everything I forgot
You were pointing them out (to me) with all your might

The words "I love you" and
Just being by someone's side and
The moments that make me
Forget loneliness and

The warmth of held hands and
The tenderness of someone's gaze and
Everything I forgot
You are pointing them out (to me) with all your might

I want to point out that she uses anata in the beginning and kimi at the end. Both mean "you", but I think they likely are two different people.

Edit: I edited the translation a little, because I feel she's saying she forgot what it meant to love, but kimi showed it to her. Saying "our held hands" and "your gaze" seems wrong, so I tried for a more general translation.

that's sad

KittyKathy 7th September 2017 09:25 AM

This makes me cry.

love in music 7th September 2017 09:29 AM

This is pretty crazy, I hadn't checked on ayu news for a while, then had the thought "it would be so cool if ayu just dropped a single randomly or something, let me check AHS" and here it is :D

Amazing song, it sounds fresh to me, can't think of any other song it sounds like in her discography. I love her vocals and it's clear how much emotion she put into it.

freedreamer 7th September 2017 09:39 AM

Those lyrics are beautiful!
