Yeah I second that. I wonder how he didn't get banned with this dumb attitude.

I once was afraid I lost use of one ear and it felt pretty horrible...

The mods are still discussing what to do about the situation, it seems.

I'm glad. Reveling over such a sad event is a bit disgusting.

Surreal 4th January 2008 08:25 AM

Oh my god, this is really bad. I feel so sad for her. Sigh..........

ALPHY 4th January 2008 08:27 AM

nice to see some drama from the usual haha

Honestly, COMPLETELY honestly, I have never seen drama the two years I've been here. Ahaha.

But tell me about it. I'm just like you; I get psycho crazy when I have water in my ear, even for only ten minutes. I wouldn't be able to live peacefully ever again to go deaf in one ear...

I give her TONS AND TONS of credit. The young age of 29, deaf in one ear, and continuing to cater to fans with a handicap. A TOTAL fighter.

TITANIC 4th January 2008 08:35 AM

T___T
oh no..
i've heard about her ear before and now i have heard about news she want stop singing until her ear healthy again..owww.......

its mean she cancel asia tour or not??

HiruNoKaze 4th January 2008 08:35 AM

sorry guys! I mistranslated the bit about hearing loss in the left ear. It is indeed complete hearing loss. I edited my post above

Ayumi_Hamasaki902 4th January 2008 08:39 AM

I remember one of her tours that she did, *It was in 2002 I believe* she had a really bad sore throat and was sick with a cold but yet she still went out there and gave it her all. I find that really admirable and inspiring to me. Cause I don't see a lot of american singers doing that but she just goes out there even when she's sick, and give it everything 100% even with a cold.

Yeah. I'm proud of her.

I don't see how she can handle some of the criticisms that people give her though D:

Just to remind you of her dedication, during ASIA TOUR, she sprained her leg, and still did a concert with the leg injured. The same thing happened at DT01 when she fell..

BigAyuFan 4th January 2008 08:40 AM

wow i feel sad to think of her saying all of this with a smile on her face.i wonder how long her ear has been completely deaf.unless

its been bothering her alot lately she wouldent have gone to the doctors.whatever her choice is im behind her 110% and ill keep

on supporting her.but im worryed about how far shes willing to push it.

truehappiness 4th January 2008 08:42 AM

I think she might've known this for quite a while, and she hid it from us.. D:

ruixiong89 4th January 2008 08:46 AM

Oh no ... I'm praying for her now. I hope her right ear NEVER loses its function. What determination from her ...

Wouldn't shock me if she did. Some stars/musicians hide those types of things.

kiseki89 4th January 2008 08:47 AM

I'm utterly shocked by the news.
No wonder some of her songs @ CDL are off..

I'm utterly ashamed of myself.

I don't want my ayu to go deaf.... Please let there be some miracle on her left ear - and the right one better not have problems too....

Come on guys, ayu brings us together, remember? Let us all wish her well.

Here is my translation:
------------------------
My frank resolution for this year.

The truth is, last year, I had an ear check-up, my diagnosis being that my left ear has completely lost all function and that there is no treatment.

Even so, I want to keep being a singer.

That's why I'll keep singing as long as this remaining right ear works, to its limit.

I won't quit.

I won't make excuses.

As a professional, I will sing the best songs for you*.

I don't really like the word "ganbaru," but...

I will ganbaru**!!!!! At all costs!!!!!!!!!

Until that day, someday...

*Here she uses the word for "everyone," but I think it is better translated as "you." Also, the literal meaning is "I will definitely deliver the best songs to you." for reference.

**ganbaru means persevere or try hard, and it is a word very commonly used in Japanese. For example, as well as being used to mean "try hard," it is used in the same situations that "good luck" would be used in English.
---------------------------

As much as I will like her to sing the best for us, I want her to be well.

I dont mind her excuses and such... just stop pushing herself so hard...

Chibi_Venus 4th January 2008 08:48 AM

Good for her for wanting to continue! ^^

Thus, I will use the rest of my right ear to sing till it loses its function as well or till its very limit.
Something tells me she would still sing (or something) even if this happened. ;)

dayumi 4th January 2008 08:52 AM

WOW!! Really shocking!!! I'm so sad, but I'm hoping the best for her..
but the problem is like my sister.. her left ear is also deaf

I think she'd even find a way then.

Now that she has lost one of her friends, and her love of seven years.. I think music is all that she has left. I dunno... but maybe Ayu should find another boyfriend soon? D:

Rei Rei 4th January 2008 09:03 AM

This is so sad =(
"My life is music, music is my life..."

We know your passion Ayu. We all hear you! However...
Please take care of yourself Ayu... We all love your music but we all want you to be healthy as well... please protect your right ear carefully!

Ganbatte ne!!! I'll pray for you.
