it will make her looked better thinking that she had learned her lesson...

but i don't even think she did anything wrong >_< just a simple apologize will do and everything should be as normal...

minna 3rd February 2008 04:46 AM

uh yeah that's true and since I don't have her phone number XD

but yeah maybe they want to give this impression like you said
we'll never know in fact

I hope that everything will go 'normal' for her after a certain time

CHE.R.RY 3rd February 2008 04:48 AM

I hope everything turns out ok for Kumi. I mean I'm sure she didn't mean for it to come out that way. That's the one of the things about being famous...you really have to watch what you do and say or the media will just jump all over you and try to destroy your career by making it out to be a whole lot worse than it really was.

No_Doubt 3rd February 2008 05:12 AM

I love love love love this comment! IT's SOOOOO FUNNY! I love Ko Da Kummmyy all over again! I want more scandals I tell ya! More offensiveness! Seriously though, I don't see why that quote was even offensive. I think it's precious.

taskinillusion 3rd February 2008 05:43 AM

Suspension eh? Well, I can understand if Avex just wants to keep her out of the drama for a while so it can blow over and I can see how if they make it look like Kumi herself decided to take a break, it looks all the better for her.

The girl needs a vacation ANYWAY! But what a way to get it. :laugh

~X2RADialbomber~ 3rd February 2008 05:44 AM

^ (No Doubt), LMAO Same! Gosh I love this scandal!

Psychotic_X 3rd February 2008 06:00 AM

omg.. you people are overreacting...
her "suspension" is just staying out of the limelight..
that's why shes stopped all promotional activities for Kingdom..

They're just waiting for the whole situation to blow over..

Kumi Koda comment goes "rotten," suspended for month

Pop star Kumi Koda has found herself in trouble after making a careless remark on a radio show earlier this week. As a result, Koda will be putting all of her activities on hold for the time being.

The comment came on Tuesday night while Koda was hosting "All Night Nippon." The topic of her manager's marriage came up, and Koda was asked about when her manager was planning to have children. She made a seemingly light-hearted reply that "when women turn 35, their amniotic fluid goes rotten, so I'd like them to have a child by 35."

The inaccurate statement sparked a lot of criticism among listeners, particularly on the internet. Koda issued a public apology on Friday through the websites of Nippon Broadcasting System and Avex, but the damage had already been done. Cosmetics firm KOSE has temporarily removed her presence from its Visee site, and promotional events for her new album "Kingdom" have all been canceled. Koda was also scheduled to appear on a Tokyo FM show on Saturday, but she has been replaced by fellow Avex artist Ami Suzuki.

However, some of her television appearances will go on as planned, such as the already-recorded "Koi no Kara Sawagi" on Saturday and "Tetsuko no Heya" on Thursday.

According to Avex, the length of Koda's self-suspension has not yet been decided but is expected to last until the end of this month. Koda has a national tour scheduled to start in April, so she hopes to resume activities in time for rehearsals in mid-March.

That's because American celebrities say much worse than that :p.

Backwards relative to what?

I wonder why America is always brought up in this thread. US is not equal to Japan. The world is not all the same. Different cultures, different values. Simple as that.

Someone should mention how there is quite a bit of tension in Japan over their rapidly ageing workforce. There is not enough children being produced each year to replace this older population. I think that's the source of all the hubbub over this scandal.

self-suspension ... rotten fluids..... WAY TO GO KUU-CHAN!!!!! ~gg~

I thought it was obvious, such a large number of people in this topic are from America, hence the relation.

I personally think it's quite moronic. Say what you will about it, but I honestly think the comment was hardly meant in any offensive manner and the fact that they're suspending promotion due to this is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. I think there are limits to how politically correct you can be.

Kingdom: 84,116 + 61,034 + 38,530 + 23,486 + 23,603 (x1.7) = 392,307

Today supposed to be a big raise in sales but due to what happened most likely there was raise of less than 200 copies only.
the whole thing affected the sales. =\

maxikot 3rd February 2008 10:12 AM

I really like that Avex doesn't want to have artist who say idiotic things (not to say offending). I don't like the situation where in most countries a whole bunch of artists do so to gain popularity and here we can see that it's not accepted. How not to love Japan? xD

Foxxy_Fuyumi 3rd February 2008 12:58 PM

self-suspension ...

Have mercy .

Yep that's very true. Like Erika's apology letter that was posted on her official website was probably a well written letter by her staff. So maybe avex cooked this tale to make her sound like she's taking her responsibilities or something.

She didn't do anything particularly wrong but I guess we're only seeing it from our cultural context.

Ayumi^_^ 3rd February 2008 01:50 PM

I think that Koda was just making a joke about it but it just failed badly. I think Avex wants to suspend her just for the period for the scandal and after that, things will resume as normal

I don't think so. If we look at Ketsumeishi's album (since Kingdom's going to sell around that 1st week wise), their sales actually dropped on Saturday.
