i will try to dig you up some links of the times that was said by them

then its just a matter of asking wut kind of fans. there could be newbie fans who mite think this as a best album, or there could be long-time fans that dont think its a 'real' best album. this could happen to ayu as well. some newbie fans mite think (m)u is really good and rate it 10/10 while some of her long-time fans may think (m)u isnt up to the 'ayu standard' etc. etc.
but i can tell u that many ppl at JPM DONT think its a 'real' best album

how do u no that they don't buy more than 1 cd at a time?

and also, i still dont see how u can justify that koda kumi's best album affected ayu's 'bad' single sales. its not like on march 8th, ppl woke up and didnt know that an ayu single and a ku album were gonna be released on the same day. this announcement was made weeks in advance. ok, lets say ppl were on the poor side. dont u think ppl would have just saved up in order to buy both cds?
ayu's "bad" single sales could be just simply be connected that the single wasnt good enough for the japanese ppl compared to her works in 2004 or 2005 and not because 'koda kumi's album was released on the same day'

u mite as well say that 'Bold & Delicious/Pride' sold so low on its 1st week cos it was released on the same day as B'z BEST album.

Maiku 14th March 2006 09:34 PM

i think ayu bad single sales have to do more with how bad B&D did ..

Ryoko 14th March 2006 10:28 PM

I really think we need to get away from the Koda/Ayumi issue. We won't really know why Startin' sold that amount and not hugher unless we lived in Japan and observed sales every minute of the day.

The things is: it's a FACT japanese people are compulsive shopper and spend lots of money every store they go, incluiding CD stores. I don't know every single japanese to know how much they buy when they go out, but there are LOTS of articles and researches about this, so I advice you to search for them. Or go to a Tsutaya in Japan and see how many items are they carrying.

And to answer your question, yes I've been to every single CD store in Japan at the exact same time when a BEST album and a single were released at the same time, thanks for asking :rolleyes

I just noticed TO BE sold so much better in total. o__o It beat Fairyland and Heaven but debutted a lot less too. Hopefully Startin would be able to do that.

How can something not be a BEST album if you call it best? You don't just call something Best... Maybe if it was your name or something rofl o.o

I'm not suprised that Koda sold heaps for this album. Her First things album is STILL on the charts! o.o

If the sales are high, it reflects the sales of a original album, and it means koda kumi is selling pretty well indeed. People should look at facts instead of hiding on excuses.

How come Koda Kumi outsold (miss)understood's total sales in a week? *dies of unfairness*
Why is it unfair? Is only Ayu allowed to have big sales?

Yes. She is only allowed big sales.

hallelujah_united 15th March 2006 10:24 AM

While we are busy arguing about Ayu's and Kumi's sales, Avex must laughing all the way to the bank seeing that they've had 3 (including LOVE COOK) of the year's biggest selling albums and many more best selling singles already.

Just a random thought.

Mad_Cactuar 15th March 2006 10:32 AM

^ Thats a god random thought. Avex is already king of Japan now.. Other than Ayu/Ai/kumi, the only ones that seem to sell any are WaT/B'z/Orange Range and that something heimlicher?

That's so blahness. xD

Avex are the masters of marketing :]

Endlessoul 15th March 2006 11:35 AM

jeffycue 15th March 2006 12:04 PM

Yep. Add Utada too.

WaT don't sell that well, they're just really popular. And Orange Range don't sell anymore. And AVEX isn't the king of Japan, Toshiba EMI Japan, for example, is bigger. Plus, there are LOTS of other japanese artists who sells a lot, lot more than Utada (right now); WaT or Orange Range..
