I've loved everything I've heard so far <3 I actually really like her English too, it's so cute XD
|
KOKIA has, like, 2 singing voices:
-the awesome opera voice -the ABSURDLY CUTE VOICE OMG. as heard in Hallelujah from Christmas Gift, for an instance... btw. I LOVE Hallelujah. I don't know why but something about the melody is just so sweet. and KOKIA sounds freaking CUTE, as mentioned above. lol. the lyrics are really weird though... is it just me or does she actually says, like... "she ties you to the kitchen chair, cuts your hair and from your lips she drew the hallelujah"? - cause that's weird o___o And, yeah, definitely listen to Remember me! Especially I Believe ~Umi no Soko Kara~! It's my favorite song from her along with Ningen tte sonna mono ne. Both have AMAZING lyrics... Oh, btw, I don't know if I've asked this here before: does any of you know where I could possibly find aigakikoeru lyric translations? I thought they'd be easy to find, since they were even included in the booklet for the european press, but no luck so far :( |
That hallelujah song is a cover of the one in Shrek right? I swear to god I've heard it before XD
|
^I think most of the songs on Christmas Gift are Covers, right?
And Shrek has a Hallelujah song? :confused lol |
Yep, I looked it up, it's been covered a LOT. It was in the original shrek movie, it's the same as the Hallelujah on the Christmas gift album.

Hallelujah is a song by Leonard Cohen... the lyrics she sings are chosen from the original lyrics , that is to say, she omits some of the original.. in this entry you have what KOKIA sings... (I collected before my copy of the album arrived)
http://ehimeintothelight.wordpress.c...ad-ha-llegado/ and yes, she sings the line apple-pi qoutes... and before you ask, i do not have idea what the song talks about ... |
If I may help... *first message posting here*
The song talks about the Biblish story of king David and the woman he fel lin love with but who was married, Batseba. King David composed the song "Hallelujah" when the Jew people brought in The Arc Of Triumph into the old Jerusalem, and danced and sung in front of this Arc. He saw Batseba bathing and fell in love with her (in the good old times when people had bads on rooftops..) but she was married with one of his best military guys, I think. Uria or something. Though, the hair cutting part remembers of something else, Simson (or Samson) and Delilah. The guy who was powerfull but when Delilah cut his hair he lost his powers? Fell in love with a woman who betrayed him.. Poor fella. I'm glad to see Akiko-sama release so much new songs compared to some other artists, and I'm very curious about this Christmas album. Hope I can get my hand on a copy of it not too long from this time ^^; I also made my boyfriend love her when I took him with me to the concert in Paris ^______________^ (amazing performance! never seen an artist perform THAT good live o_O ) |
Ooh, Leonard Cohen. Both my parents like him. Didn't know it was his song XD
Thanks Rogue for the explanation! The lyrics make much more sense now XD (and welcome to AHS! =D) |

Happy to join! ^^ Weren't there by the way members who saw KOKIAs concert in Paris? I went like "squeeee" when she mounted the stage XD She was pretty funny rejecting te fact she was "kawaii" by telling everyone she was nearly 32 or something like that XD And "I Believe" was a DARN good choice to close the concert with. Anyone knows if the dvd is out yet? |

Yes, it was an amazing experience! First J-music concert ever and then even of Kokia... I mean.. This lady has one of the strongest voices on earth I think o_O (that world record she digged with O Sole Mio @___@ ) @Ayesha; oww, that's too bad, I thought my boyfriend told me they announced there would possibly a dvd t ocome out from her live performances and I thought it would be of her european tour, but too bad, I see. They were filming when I was entering the building, though! Maaaaaaaaybe there will be a little footage in that Tokyo concert dvd? ^^; *crosses fingers* |
