Seriously! My expectations were so low during that period that I thought the Piece of Me video was pretty much the best thing ever at the time.

^FAIL! :lmfao (j/k)Piece of ME video was awful. It was like she wasn't even trying to give us a good video. Plus she looked like she was about to just snap and do something real crazy in the video at any minute.

The only promotion for Blackout that I saw was a CM promoting the album and that was pretty much crappy. It was like JIVE wasn't even putting effort into the promotion. I think this time around they will do a better job in the promotion tho.

drewbilation 21st November 2008 10:32 PM

I think Jive did about as much as they could without Britney actually getting out there and doing interviews/performances tbh. I remember seeing magazine ads, internet ads and stuff on MTV, etc. the album went platinum and all three singles did well, what more did you expect?

plus, there was that whole thing with a lot of her fans boycotting the album until she got better, too.

I agree! Like, they couldn't even get her to do a real PV for "Break the Ice". I was so upset about that!

What's "FAIL" about liking the video? It's called an opinion and the last time I checked yours wasn't very credible. And they're called commercials, not CMs. We aren't in Japan Shannese.

wow, britbrit looks hot in that pic! she must not be eating cheetos anymore!

kang daesung 21st November 2008 11:07 PM

^I know right? But with her cheetos went her boobs, evidently! Where is they?

bondingo 21st November 2008 11:42 PM

Check this out.

I feel so bad for her. She obviously isn't completely well, although she does appear to be much better than she was last year. The documentary is really going to be something too. It just sounds so depressing. Poor thing :(

I think people are blowing this stuff out of proportion. Britney doesn't look sad or seem sad to me, I think people just wanna jump to conclusions. I think everything will be fine.

How about actually looking something up before you comment incorrectly on it? Britney was recently quoted as saying this:

Quote:

"I have realized that it's better to not have feelings, and not feel anything at all, because when you're happy, everyone takes that away from you, they hear me, but they’re not listening, it's sad. I'm so sad."

kang daesung 22nd November 2008 02:03 AM

^Except that Britney's official site refuted claims that Britney is upset and even said those exact quotes were taken out of context.

EDIT: oopz gomen, it wasn't the official site, but it was written by Britannica, who writes for her site:

Quote:

About your concerns

You guys are sweet to care/worry so much about Brit. :) This is not "official" information, but maybe it will ease your concerns. I really don't think Britney enjoys doing interviews. They can be scary. Personally, I HATE being put on the spot. It makes me insanely nervous. That's essentially why I'm a writer, I'm much better with words than I am at public speaking. I put my foot in my mouth, like, all the time lol.

As for the music/touring—I believe that Britney truly loves that stuff. Like the rest of us, she can lose herself in the music. She's always adored dancing. So if she seems nervous at interviews or at appearances, I genuinely don't think that's a factor in her being ready. She loves her fans, there's no doubt about that! Again, this isn't "official" info, this isn't coming from Britney, but it's just my two cents. :) xx♥
But I did see Larry Rudolph talking about how the quotes were out of context, as well.

EDIT #2: Also, from People.com:

Quote:

Britney's Manager Says She's Ready for a Comeback

Although Britney Spears admits in a new film that she "totally lost my way, lost focus, lost myself," that won't stand in the way of her comeback, says her manager.

"She's definitely ready," Larry Rudolph tells PEOPLE, following a sneak peek of Spears's riveting MTV documentary, Britney: For the Record, airing Nov. 30, in Santa Monica, Calif.

"She loves to work," he says. "She's a very strong person. Everybody goes through setbacks in their lives. [But] every day, I see her getting happier and stronger."

One of her biggest victories this year? Regaining visitation with Preston, 3, and Jayden, 2, her sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

So while her musical comeback is important, Spears has made it clear that motherhood comes first, says Rudolph.

"Her kids and balancing her life with her kids is an incredible priority – the No. 1 priority in terms of how I operate with her," he says.

Spears's boys can be seen in the film, which follows the pop star over three months as she records her upcoming album Circus, wins big at September's MTV Video Music Awards, and speaks frankly about her problems – including her failed relationships with Federline and Justin Timberlake.

The idea for the candid documentary sprung up during a conversation Spears and Rudolph had over dinner several months ago.

"It evolved and became a question of, What will she do? What will she say? How will she say it?" he says. "How will people view her after what she's been through and after all that they've seen in the tabloids over the past year or two?"

Adds Rudolph: "This became sort of a great way for her to say what she needs to say on her terms."

drewbilation 22nd November 2008 02:13 AM

I believe that quote is from her documentary, DIRECTLY FROM HER MOUTH, so unless she denies it herself, I believe it. and, yeah, her official site/management isn't going to admit that she's not happy or w/e, they're going to spin it to and try divert attention away from something could be seen as negative.

most of the reports from the screening said Britney was noticeably nervous/upset, so I honestly don't think she's completely ready for this comeback. her father and management should've waited another year or however long it took for Britney to be back 100% and ready/wanting to do this herself.

kang daesung 22nd November 2008 02:24 AM

I still would rather not read into stuff and jump to conclusions about this sort of thing. Being a bit distracted during an interview is turning into people claiming she's going to have a breakdown at any moment. I think it's better for people to just wait and see. Why do people take two words from an hour-long documentary and try to make such conclusions?

no one on here mentioned thinking she was on the verge of having another breakdown, though. the only thing mentioned was that people thought she was sad, and she even said so herself in that interview.

kang daesung 22nd November 2008 02:31 AM

^Here's the official response to that quote:

Quote:

One thing that struck me in the footage shown was that she didn’t always seem very happy. She looked sullen during quite a bit of it. Why do you think she keeps going? She's putting out another album, going on tour…

I think she keeps going because she knows there's a beginning, middle and end to this. She realizes that there are better times ahead. She's already in a much better place than she was not that long ago and she knows that she's going to be in a better place a month from now, six months from now, a year from now, etc. That's what keeps her going. She's doing what she loves right now. Every day she's found more happiness in her life.
Also keep in mind that this documentary started filming with Britney THREE months ago.

drewbilation 22nd November 2008 02:45 AM

all right, but I think you're still missing the point. her management is obviously going to deny that anything is wrong; they're trying to convince everyone that Britney is back to her old self, so even if she was suicidal we probably wouldn't hear a word of it from them. and, so what if the documentary started filming three months ago? the part we're talking about could only be a few weeks old. WE DON'T KNOW.

what we do know, though, is that Britney said she is sad. I don't see how that could be taken out of context, tbh. she said it, and she obviously meant it as she started crying afterward! it says so on her official site, so it must be true!!! that was the basis of your whole argument, wasn't it?

kang daesung 22nd November 2008 02:49 AM

^Well if you still come to that conclusion after viewing ALL of the context and other sources, then OK :D I disagree though. She seems like she's telling her true feelings and opening up, but that in no way means she's not ready for this comeback. She's already made two amazing videos, lost a ton of weight, started looking amazing and created 19 phenomenal tracks!

Wow I haven't studied spanish in at least 5 years, but I totally understood that! I'm so excited! xD;;;

And yeah I agree, the promo shots should have been the cover, they are much more goregeous and she looks much more natural :yes

Haha.

And as ashamed as I am to say this, I'm actually liking "Unusual You" and "Mannequin" now after listening to some of the songs a bit more. I'll just chalk it up to good production value and amazing vocal modification work. Doesn't take much to sound good nowadays anyway.
