Yes, in addition to digital downloading.

hmm promotion is not finished and it's a good single It can reach 100000files a week I think and do better as rule/sparkle ! A good job for a first day no ? =D

waterballoon 12th August 2009 07:57 PM

I don't mean to be rude or anything, but how is iTunes any "replacement" or a digital Oricon?

I mean not everyone in Japan uses a Mac or an iTunes, also not every J-Pop singer is added into the iTunes store, so it isn't exactly fair or accurate either.

I'm VERY happy that she's doing well in iTunes, but I wouldn't say this is an indicator to how good her digital downloads and whatsoever are...

I'm sorry if I pissed anyone off.

Evolution7/4 12th August 2009 08:03 PM

^I never said it was the only way i'm just saying it definitely says its doing somewhat well, iTunes may not be the biggest but it is big!

Ayumiko 12th August 2009 08:03 PM

I think second day's sales will be around 15k.

I personally for the past few years been pre-ordering ayu's releases without second thoughts...especially her singles where I will buy all versions. However as much as I love sunrise and sunset, (songs and the pvs); and as much as I know the covers shouldn't stop me from buying and that it should be for the music...I just can't get myself to fork out money to buy this single....because of the ugly covers. I still haven't bought the single...I guess with no first press doesn't help too. Maybe if it goes on sale at cdjapan later or something I'll buy it. If I live in Japan, I'll just pay to download the single to support.

I'm glad to hear the legal downloads are doing well. =D

first day sales are good. wait people are freaking out over this? i'm not bothering to read all of the pages but i saw a post that said people were. lmao. oh, AHS.

dreamland2.0 12th August 2009 08:11 PM

I hope this single does well. I think it`s rather unfair that some people are saying it doesn't deserve #1 or high sales. Surprisingly some people actually do like these songs, pvs etc. And they buy it because they like it. Just my opinion.

ayumisrael 12th August 2009 08:13 PM

At least we know that what attracts the buyers is the music and not the covers :P

Andrenekoi 12th August 2009 08:17 PM

It'going to be interesting to see how good is ayu going to do without 20 versions and first press gifts! I don't like when she does that ><

Evolution7/4 12th August 2009 08:25 PM

It seems avex has been experimenting with Ayu's releases like with R/S they saw if she could get number one even though it was close to release of the album and only a short while after her last single Green/Days, and now they are seeing how sales will be/if she can get number one without first press or multiple versions.

Based on what? There is no reason to believe that the single will have the similar 2nd day as talkin' 2 myself did, considering the first day was higher and that Sunrise is doing really well both on Recochoku and iTunes.

Yeah, but like iTunes Japan is basically the only place you can buy Japanese music in MP3 format, everything else is in WMA and you can't put that in an iPod, and iPods are, like everywhere else, very popular in Japan.

It's just one of many indicators of how well she's selling ( :yes ).

Oh everyone, right now at MUSICO, Sunrise is currently at #2 and Sunset is at #7, pretty close to iTunes's ranking.

Chill~ It is only my prediction. Not saying that it will for sure...lol. The first day's sales is higher but it doesn't guarantee the drop will be less...it really depends on pre-orders and stuff. Of course I would want the sales to be much higher. The first day's sales already exceeded my expectations and ayu's doing very well this year compared to other solo female artists...so everything is good.

Don't worry I wasn't trying to argue :) I was just interested to see if you had a reason why you thought it would drop that much. I follow the charts regularly so yeah I am aware of what might happen :D

pop909 12th August 2009 09:19 PM

I think Ayumiko is right too >_>

Possessionless 12th August 2009 09:32 PM

Sales could be better :/

Weren't those numbers proven false? I thought the official total ended up being around that of Days.

How do you know that? No actual sales numbers have come out yet.

As for whether itunes/ipods are extremely popular in Japan....you could say they are starting to get more popular, but still the primary way people download music in Japan is through cell phones. So stuff like Musico and Recochaku are better indicators. But still I always say for digital sales you need to actually see the riaj certification before you can say its doing great digitally or something.

Anyways, as for the sales of this single, I was expecting around 50k opening day - despite the horrible covers. That's less than Days, but more than her other recent singles which seemed like the logical placement for me.
