*sits and prays*. Ayumi kick butt! After seeing the translation for Red Line my love toward Ayumi has grown back to the way it was. That song is truly inspirational. I wish it had been the main single. AYUMI GET UM! SMASH THAT COMPETITION!!!

I'm being competitive lol!

87,000 good start... but lets see the rest of it, EVEN better. 100,000 here we come.. And I say "here we come" because we the buyers celebrate in this as much as Ayumi does. WE made this happen, by buying the single. Go us! We rock, don't we?

I'm tempted to buy the other 2 press editions of it, and then I'll have all 3.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 4th January 2010 04:59 PM

Really average sales. I was really expecting a bit more or at least less drop, not because I'm asking too much, but because of the strong promotion that this single has plus the lives etc.

This single was awesome and what Japanese generally like from ayu: her ballads, so that makes me a bit upset. Maybe they're finally getting over ayu.

Please don't tell me you've just realized that ( :P ).

ayumisrael 4th January 2010 05:30 PM

7th Day
Position: #2
Sales: 2,684
Total Sales: 89,775

First week estimation is around 89,755 though it's not the total first week number (usually it's a few thousands more) so I would say that the first week is like Rule/Sparkle's maybe a bit less.
Not bad.

Minttulatte 4th January 2010 05:54 PM

So Ayu will still get herself another #1 single? Nice. :D I love this single a lot, it has made my love for Ayu's songs grow again towards the same size it was before I lost my interest in her. Now I will confess that my interest has grown more after I heard You were.../BALLAD single. I really think this is her best single for a long time. I really hope this single is succesful. :)

Maemi 4th January 2010 05:59 PM

Not bad...^^

hikaricore 4th January 2010 06:08 PM

Wow, it passed S/S~LIA~ first week sales after just four days??
I'm banking on this being a big seller for Ayu...
*crosses fingers*

ayumisrael 4th January 2010 06:15 PM

Probably tomorrow's sales will be back to be higher though as all of the stores today went back to business. ^^

(well hopefully)

nemesisyume 4th January 2010 06:18 PM

I think it will go up a bit bcos of that

but quite many seem to be downloading everything now
well it has been that way for a long time.

Izzette 4th January 2010 06:40 PM

I don't understand why people want to download, it takes up so much space on your computer that a CD single doesn't. Especially since most songs are 10~12MB now, not like they used to be at 3-6MB.

Downloading can really fill up a computer fast.

However I'm hoping that people see that this single is much better than the others, and give her another chance and let her sell good. Maybe it'll have stay on the charts along time, and sell alot over a period of time as more people start to realize this song is good. Maybe the Junko Akimoto effect, chart for along time and sell alot.

Many people just want one song or the other and don't really care for an instrumental or remix so lets say someone just wants You were...; well she'll only have to spend 1/5 of the amount it would take to buy the CD only version.

Years ago when digital downloading was much unheard of people had to buy the actual CD to get the music they wanted and that's one reason why over all sales for everyone has dropped.

I love you so much just for mentioning her!! This won't sell 500K like Junko's but lets hope it has a long chart life ( :P ).

I definitely get what your saying about buying just one song, cause thats what I do with America's Itunes, well since CD singles no longer exist in America that's about all you can do.

Anyway, Maybe if the Japanese came off their prices just a bit, and maybe made like a Standard CD press that was like 500Y/700Y, no gimmicks, just the plain CD, maybe that would bring out more buyers. Cause I know for along time when I was unable to watch the DVDs, I just bought CD Onlys.

I think CD Only's should be about 700Y, then CD/DVD's maybe 1,300Y. 1,000/1,800 is just way too much since you can go to Itunes Japan and buy the main 2 singles for just 200Y each digitally. When you put it that way of course it attracts people to digital, it's cheaper, and who doesn't like saving money?

~~~~~ How could anyone not mention Junko? Ai no mama de is a legendary song. But it makes me sad that somebody as legendary as Ayumi Hamasaki can't sell 500,000 anymore, A person with a fanbase that probably out weighs Junko's by millions. It really makes me sad. I realize Junko was a one hit wonder, and her other songs haven't matched it in sales by any means. So I guess one can't compare Junko Akimoto to Ayumi Hamasaki. But I wish success stories like that still happened in Japan.
It seems like Arashi is the only one that goes all out and sells like crazy. They have such a dedicated fanbase. What happened to Ayumi's? :(
ville 4th January 2010 07:14 PM
^^ i don't think that ayu will have so called "junko effect"...
her single sales are always dropping kinda fast, right?
i don't think that You were.../BALLAD will sell more than 20 - 30 k in next weeks :(
I don't think it will either, but it doesn't hurt to dream now does it?
proserpine 4th January 2010 07:45 PM
aww sales look horrible for a ballad single! :(
i was expecting way more than r/s, i'm SO disappointed :( :(
do we know fukuyama sales ?
since we know ayu's sales !
how much did he sold until now ?
and who can explain these drops, they're strange for ayu!
normally it doesn't drop as fast does it ?
and i thought the competition was with kanjani8?
what happened to them ?
Ayu_Ready 4th January 2010 07:49 PM
sales are pretty good I thought a bit more but maybe the Ayu effect since D/G a rather 1st week but a long chart's life ^^ I hope =D
A lot of singles don't reach 90k AT ALL ! and it's just physical sales =D
jbrat2219 4th January 2010 08:07 PM
Wait, are these the sales for one week? Oricon didn't do a double week? If they did, sales would be much higher now? Sorry if this is a dumb question...
Maybe he sold around 15,000-18,000 on this week.
Even if he will be #1 the whole 2nd week I don't think he can sell enough to get #1 overall.
kanjani8's singles were released a week before so ayu's single is not against them. Their singles have been and are under #4 since the beginning of the week.
^Yes, it's only for the first week.
The 2nd one starts tomorrow.
I wonder if oricon gives an official total for the first week... probably not. =P
Space on real live > Space on ur PC
Buying CDs can fill up ur home physial space really fast :P If u live on a country with space issues like Japan, it's even worst
Oh, his first week sales were much higher than this. So had Ayu released in the week she originally was going to, she would have lost the number 1.
These sales I would say are average; kinda on the low side for her winter ballads though.
