I think the Original version kinda ruins it, a song like that needs more organic instrumentation, imo

That is why the Original Version is a bonus track in HS. I dun really like the original version as well. I just feel the arrangement doesn't fit with the lyric that much.

The original version of Flavour of Life is SO MUCH BETTER than the ballad version, imo. But that's because I love that ULTRA BLUE/Heart Station style she went with for most of the tracks. The ballad version is suuuuuuuper boring for me. I prefer my life's flavour to be something upbeat and fun. Lol.

Polyrhythm 19th September 2010 02:53 AM

I don't really care for FoL in general actually :P I mean its a gorgeous song.....I just don't listen to it that much....I know its one of her best and most well known though.

Oh yeah I can see your point. I tried myself to fall in love to the original version as well. Like what you've said, it's more upbeat, and it actually encourages people to be more positive. In the end, there are more upbeat songs in HS so I dun need to force myself to love that version haha.

Oh damn now I really wish she will include Fight The Blues. I dunno why but I always compare this song with This Is Love, and I love FTB much more.. I wish FTB is included instead of TIL... lol.

If ftb was on the album I have a feeling it would get a full pv too. What ever did happen with this? I think it was meant for promoting, but even "short" pvs that ayu has are longer than this. :/

Maemi 19th September 2010 11:36 AM

The release date is [2010.11.24]? That's so not soon :cry

I bet this is how the clip was born:
(during the "boring" photoshoot of HS) crew: hey hikki san, why dun you sing for us?
Hikki: Hai~~ (we fight the blues... blah blah blah blah)

(a few days later... while the promotion/production group was watching the progress of the photoshoot via video.. sorta like making of)
group leader: hey that's cute..
crews: yeah.. (clapping their hands)
leader: hmmn.. why dun we make this as a promotion clip?
crews: sou....

Awww she looked so cute. I haven't seen this till now. thanks!

I wouldn't mind if that promo pic is the actual cover!

I would, you can't even see her face.

I hope she'll have a regular face close-up, just like every single one of her other studio album covers :)

But this is coming from someone who likes the This Is The One cover, my opinion might be odd.

yeah. I don't want another gray on gray cover with horrible text, and a blank stare, although she looked good.

Maemi 20th September 2010 07:00 PM

I wouldn't expect much from her on that field. (covers and photoshots). But I do expect much from new songs! Don't let us down Hikki! .__.

Why? Ultra Blue is one of the most epic album booklets + cover in j-pop if you ask me, and I loved the simplicity and cleanness of Heart Station. I actually even really like the TITO cover and booklet.

But I guess most people here hate the HS and TITO shoots, so yeah :laugh

Or maybe you were talking about the fact that Single Collection 1 didn't have any pictures whatsoever. In that case, yeah you might be right :(

Picaflor 7/4 20th September 2010 09:13 PM

^imo she always has really amazing photoshoots. I love ub. but the covers are always so boring. I wouldn't mind head shots if it wasn't for the fact that she does them on every cover. If for the next 10 singles, ayu decided to just have head shots of her staring into the camera, and no background behind her, people would get really annoyed.

For me it's kind of her thing to have head shots as album covers. Her single covers are really diverse. Freaky like traveling, zoomed out like Beautiful World, or without her even being on it like Heart Station / Stay Gold.

But then her albums are consistent, because they always have a gorgeous head shot.

I completely understand your point, but I like this kind of system she's got going on!

:laugh First Love doesn't count!! It's an exception! :laugh you actually made me laugh, I was like "oh damn forgot about that one".

No but seriously, from Distance onwards they're all pretty gorgeous! Distance is cool, Deep River is classy, Ultra Blue is ultra gorgeous and Heart Station is very pretty. Or at least, I think it's very pretty, some of you might not agree.
