I believe the event she talks about where she locked herself into her apartment and ignored calls from everyone is the one that happened at the end of LOVEppears era and going into the Duty-singles era. We see this in the 2000 documentary where the narrator states that they found out from Ayu's manager that Ayu wasn't in contact for a while. Later, Ayu comes in to the office apologising to everyone for her absence.

Based on what has been said about Natsuki, I'm happy to hear that Ayu has a friend like her in her life. I'm sure she's been a great support system for Ayu and is someone that she considers to be a trustworthy person. Hearing about how she pulled Ayu out her slump at that time and about how close they are makes me feel a little less worried about her. I wouldn't be surprised if she helped to encourage Ayu to go to LA to escape some of the negativity she is experiencing in Japan due to this recent breakup.

I wonder if all this drama is going to inspire some lyrics.

Indeed. Apparently Ayu has had to deal with some people leaving her after she became famous (or even some people who didn't care for her flocking to her after the fact) so it's nice to know that she has such a great friend by her side.

I don't think the LA thing is Natsuki's idea since Ayu practically goes overseas every year after the CDL, haha. It's usually CDL -> a day or two goes by -> fly to Hawaii/LA/Las Vegas/NY/somewhere else from my experience. Even before she got Twitter and was telling us where she was, it was obvious she wasn't really staying in Japan for most of January.

Thanks for letting me know as I didn't know that she tends to fly out of the country shortly after her CDLs every year. Although it was unintentional, I do feel that it's a good thing she was out of town when the news broke so that she doesn't have to be in Japan physically when the drama was unfolding regarding the breakup. I do feel sorry for Maro as it seems like he lost a lot at once and seems to be in a depressed state based on his Twitter comment. I'm still a bit sad though that this drama seems to be getting just as much if not more attention than her anniversary celebration.

I read the Natsuki article. And the posts after. All those fans seem to think Natsuki committed suicide :/

Before we knew who it was, we only knew of Natsuki as one of her best friends. However, we know now that it was Ayumi Ogata. Japanese fans seemed to know that she called her ANEKI from interviews or something and I guess they connected the dots.

^And did she commit suicide? Because I remember there was a friend who passed away, too. But, I thought that one was due to illness.

The lyrics of untitled ~for her~ seem to indicate that ANEKI aka Ayumi Ogata committed suicide.

We don't really know for sure though.

As for the other friend that passed away, I think it was one of her male friends, BACCHI, that was part of the red-bracelet/RED LINE-ish group (Tsuriko, BACCHI, Ayu). Apparently Life was also dedicated to him in 2008. The lyrics for RED LINE ~for TA~ came from a blog entry that she wrote about BACCHI back in 2009.

i think ayu just accidentally met will.i.am when they were having lunch/dinner at Mr.Chow Restaurant. i doubt it'll be for another collaboration or he's working on ayu's music, but yeahh who knows!

She can date whoever, but when she drags that person all through her music and PVs, just to dump them months later, it bugs me. It just makes the music seem shallow and insincere. Two words I would never like to associate with Ayu.

I feel like she's throwing around the word "love" for the sake of it, there's no substance.

I can say, "it's all about the music", but this does ruin the music when it's what her music is about.
