I wonder if changing labels will affect Hikki's music.

I always thought that her previous label gave her a lot of freedom, support and protection. It always felt like she was an artist who did whatever she wanted.

^I don't think she would have changed the label if she had to sign a different contract - if not, she may now has (that sounds so wird in every order) much more freedom than before. The name Utada Hikaru alone is a guarantee for success. It's not like she had to change labels, she wanted to.

She'll be okay. She's one of the most successful artists in Japan. I don't think any label can tell her what to do if she's not willing to go along with it lol.

Now, as I said before, my next concern is how Utada's change of label to Epic - which is a Sony label - will affect Utada on YouTube, because we know how Sony is mostly so protectionist on YouTube (most are pretty much blocked, with a few exceptions such as SCANDAL, NGT48 and Vevo channels of, say, Keyakizaka46), and not only that, Sony's on the YouTube Red 'blacklist' (even if the artist and its videos aren't subject to Japan-only restrictions, the disagreement with YouTube has them still blocked in countries where YouTube Red is still available, such as here in the USA)...



Right now this video isn't blocked (checked here). But I'm on the err safe side of caution...

I don't know what to expect from her this time, but I'll take whatever she gives :yes.

I think it'll be fine. Utada herself asked her staff to unblock some videos of her channel after some fans complained that couldn't watch them because of region blocks.
