Well now it plain su cks :( lol

Isthan 8th November 2005 07:29 PM

It's not the best song of hers but I still like it! It has so great amount of energy on it... Can't wait for the single!

But opinions are opinions, so I don't mind if some people don't like it.

PSYCHEDELICOdust 8th November 2005 08:27 PM

Honestly, I'm really liking this. Its surprising, different, she sounds fine, the arrangement's nifty, and it sounds like it's got a sense of humour XD

Beyond the Sea 8th November 2005 08:30 PM

When the people say "BOLD & DELICIOUS" it reminds me of that evil clown from Spawn and the one from Twisted MEtal singing together in some scay circus :( I like when Ayu sings! :D

AyuMayu 8th November 2005 09:42 PM

Ok well now that the 2 minute preview is out... Um... I dunno the song is different from what I expected. I mean the whole hip-hop/gospel choir thing really confuses me so I'm just like WTF throughout the entire song. One minute it's like "sexy don't mess with me" and then the next we're standing up in a church clapping our hands rhythmically while Father Ayu is leading us in singing.

Very confused.

Larisa-chan 8th November 2005 10:07 PM

Okay, listened to the two minute preview.

This song freaking sucks

Just a bunch of noise thrown together with no composition or arrangement. What is UP with the "ahhh <3"? Even if anyone other than Ayumi sang it, I'd still hate it. And I thought STEP you was bad ::laugh::

Qt Mashi 8th November 2005 10:08 PM

anyone heard PECO right at the end of the 2 minute preview??!! from 2:05??

That's what I don't like about it either, it just makes the whole thing very uneven and hard to listen to. I couldn't think of the right terms to explain this in the preview thread, but you've explained it. I thought the backing singers screaming 'bold and delicious' was irritating in the short preview, but in the longer preview it's worse, it's overdone and seems pointless to me. I didn't care for the shorter preview, but after listening to the longer preview, I can honestly say I hate it, a first for me, as even the weaker tracks have an appeal after a few listens, but the only thing I liked about this track was the guitar bit in the middle.

Coelacanth 8th November 2005 10:28 PM

From the two minute preview, I guess it's safe to say I'm going to end up liking the song. Too bad it's not higher quality, this preview is noisy as hell. And who the hell was too lazy to not rip the whole song?

B&D reminds me a lot of something Janet (or even Michael) Jackson would do for some reason. I must say though, I don't think the song is good enough for a single. It's probably just here to throw even more variety into her singles this year.

I'd love for 'Pride' to just blow me away, but it doesn't seem likely since after listening to the preview 30+ times I still can't remember the melody...

//hikari 8th November 2005 11:18 PM

This song is absolutely horrifying. I can't believe Ayumi would pass this song off to her fans as if it were a good quality song. I'd feel cheated if I were one of the crazies that worships her.

Why is she still letting PECO sing. That wench is worse of a singer than Ayumi in both of these songs.

I seriously hope this single flops to bring some attention to Ayu that she can't turn out crap and make it gold.

PickleCookies 8th November 2005 11:23 PM

It caused my eardrums to explode.

Halla 8th November 2005 11:23 PM

This is going to be the first ayu song which just plain sucks , it's horrible. like a joke or something. in a way the song is really funny but noway it's enjoyable as a song to me at least .....

I'm not impressed with Pride either judging from the sample , I don't like the choir effect.

I'm still looking forward to the remixes tho , M.O.R did a good job remixing Ami Suzuki and so did Wall5 with LISA & etc :P

Nu-NRG 8th November 2005 11:25 PM

two word: BAD & DISGUSTING!!!
WTF is ayu doing...ruining a perfect year's releases..with this crap?
knew it won't be a good song from start..the cm pretty much do the justice for me everytime

I'm glad I don't expect anything good out of Ayu anymore. After her last 6 crap singles, I don't expect this one to be much better.
Ayu has been digging her own grave since 2001, and she's nearing the end. Soon enough fans will realize that she doesn't crap out diamonds, and get tired of what she releases.

I hear everyone saying that this song doesn't sound like any other Ayu song. Well, of course it doesn't. That's because it sounds like every other j-pop song. Ayu's unique sound has disintegrated into bland, boring, generic crap.

There's one question I have though: Where in the world do you people get the idea that this music is gospel? This is definitely not gospel.

Lord, this crap is so obnoxious. What happened to the pre-2003 days where Ayu sang by herself? I mean, if she were to use back-up singers, she could atleast have the decency to get someone who can SING.

One more thing, what's with this Engrish titles? "Catcher in the Light," "my name's WOMEN," "Humming 7/4," "STEP you," "alterna," and now "Bold and Delicious." What the hell, Ayu?

atenza 9th November 2005 12:25 AM

OMG sounds terrible, :tired that Choir part ruins it and sounds like a cut and paste job. The start was alrite though. :no

orenji_jaro 9th November 2005 12:49 AM

i dont like this... no not the song! ^^
the members who says the song is bad... hmmm did you grow up listening to american music?
cos its like ur comparing american music into japanese music...
the song BOLD & DELICOUS is very JPOP and it will stand out probably in japan becasue it has english or as you would say.. engrish.... - i hate it..... when u say engrish it sometimes offend me..-
JPOP songs are very enrgetic very like nami tamaki songs hyper-ish and very different from other music! ^^
i like the song too! and PECO has been given her chance to shine in the song! that's why she has a solo part.. and by that ayu is just sharing and not being selfish in her career! sher lets her staff do their own thing! like when she always introduces the band and the dancers in her concerts she dont want them to feel left out ^^
and dont you notice the song in the first chorus part after the chorus part.... youll hear a bit of STEP you.. like the intro in fairyladn haha! ayu is mixing all her songs >_<
and also the verse sounds like my name's WOMEN!
and the title is very unique original! if i was to make an album title i will make them like that! there's nothing wrong with inventing words or something eh? ^^
i like the title so much spoecially STEP you! and also my name's WOMEN!
PLEASE DONT LET AYUMI HAMASAKI DOWN!!!
I know this album will definitely sell in JAPAN!
im still expecting for the good remixes specially HEAVEN!@ ^^
osu~ ^_____^

After hearing the 2 minute version and also the preview of Pride. I have to say, I think the reason this is a "Double A-Side" single is because neither song is strong enough to carry a single on it's own. Will and Alterna sound far superior to Pride and were considered B-sides. Maybe the full version of Pride will sound better, but the whole point of these previews is for the audience to hear the best hooks that the song has - and the melody in Pride sounds very average to me to be single material.

This is the only Ayu single pretty much ever that I'm not very excited about.

I also think the release of this single is more of an Avex thing, than an Ayu thing. This single was announced very late and the commericial for Panasonic wasn't ready for air even though the product was announced weeks ago. Usually when a new Panasonic CM is announced on the website, the CM is shown on the website right after. Not so with this one. I think Avex purposely rushed the release of the new single just to cash in. Hopefully this won't happen with the album as well, but even the release date of the album seems to soon to me, if there weren't any other new songs already recorded that they could put on a single that were better than Pride or B&D.

B&D reminds me a lot of something Janet (or even Michael) Jackson would do for some reason.
I had the same thoughts when listening to it: "This sounds like a track from Janet Jackson's 'Control" or 'Rhythm Nation 1814' albums." (Good albums, btw.) It's funny because the preview made it sound so similar to Namie's early works which I really do enjoy, but now I'm confused about exactly what direction this song is going. I mean, there's a mezzo forte verse, fortissimo chorus, then an 80s-pop/rock bridge that came out of nowhere. (Music gurus know what I'm talking about.) EH?

My solution: fire the person responsible for arranging "B&D." The arrangement is the biggest flaw of the song because putting a choir, Peco, an out-of-place 80s dance bridge, and a subdued melody altogether really hurts the ears. I think Ayu handles the song well, given all the problems that the arrangement has.

I don't absolutely loathe the song like a lot of you do. I think the chorus is catchy and different, but I cannot hardly remember the melody of the verses because Ayu only sings 3 notes in them. I'm eagered to hear a high-quality version of it just to see if the problems are still there.

I'm still curious to see how the Japanese react to it. "B&D" sounds similar to "STEP you" (imo) which sold well.

Oh, and why do people buy the singles before knowing what they sound like? Even if you're a diehard Ayu fan, why waste money on something that you're not going to listen to anyway and support something you cannot stand? That has baffled me ever since I first heard about Ayumi.

khaeos 9th November 2005 01:48 AM

My God, you guys make B&D sound ear-bleeding.

Honestly, it doesn't sound any different than the 30-second preview. o_O

I still like it because Ayu sounds happy and appears to be enjoying herself. I believe that a musician/band only ruins their career when they no longer sing for the music. It's when they only do it for the money/fame that their music starts to suck.

Guys, don't blame Ayu if you hate the song. Blame the person who COMPOSED and ARRANGED it. Unless the credits come out and CREA composed B&D.. well, you can blame the other person. XD

On that subject, I really really really wish Ayu would start composing most, if not all of her songs. It seems like the songs that everyone 'agrees' on are products of CREA.

(p.s. worst ayu song ever? you have GOT to be kidding me.)

ruixiong89 9th November 2005 01:55 AM

My suggestion: Try hearing it again?

*recalls INSPIRE*

Yup, it took some initiates like 1 entire year to FINALLY like INSPIRE so I don't think you should pass judgements so quickly? Anyway, I think the song really sucked when I first heard it. I was like WTH is ayu doing?!

And on a second listen, well, I found myself enjoying the song a little more? And to add on, maybe I'll feel better if I watch the PV?

But anyway, yup, it's good that Ayu tries new stuff but geez, she sure gave me a shock with this single! *please change the genre Ayu, CHANGE! tis' too risky!*
