I don't think she's disabled because she's lost hearing in one ear. She may be hearing impaired, but she's still going to try and continue with her career :shrug

I'm tired of all these news stories. They're just taking advantage of the headline "deaf singer"; they don't really care what happens to Ayu. And as ImpactBreaker has pointed out, they really suck at getting the facts straight (probably since there are so few in the first place). The good thing is that with as fast as news spreads, it will quickly become old news.

that's a terrible picture.. but at least it's hitting the news all over the place,

Sad that it had to have her hit news for something so sad :(

4ever*ayu 8th January 2008 10:02 PM

the news spreading really fast, from east to the far west....everyone in the world knows about ayu...

It's a morbid thought, but I wonder if the global media coverage this is getting will make people curious about her music. She might get a new crop of international fans out of this if it does.

ImpactBreaker 8th January 2008 10:55 PM

I don't think it will get people interested in her music. I say this because I'm just like that when I'm reading the papers. If I saw some news of some russian famous pop star (with a local fame, but not worlwidfe fame) going deaf, I'd just read it and forget it, and go read other news.

Bazaa 8th January 2008 11:33 PM

^ I agree. Unless you don't have some kind of, hm, interest in Japan and still don't know Ayu, that would spark some curiosity on her, I guess. Other than that, i think people would mostly be neutral about it.

Here in Portugal I can't find any news about her =|

What's wrong with Ayu's face? O.o
It looks like she was burnt or something :(
And sorry if this question has already been answered...

Yeah, they could have used a better pic than this one :shrug But I have no idea what that is on her face.

I love how they gave her a Slavic name. I've always adored that family of languages.

Yes. But I'm actually a bit surprised they're bothering to report it.

I agree that they care about the "deaf singer" headline, not about getting Ayu facts right.

Thanks for the so many newspaper...Tired of all this stories. I only know that Ayu has a great spirit. And thats enough. GO on Ayu!!

baka-ranger 9th January 2008 10:17 AM

This reached "the Australian" even O__O, its all around the world, it really shows how big Ayu is..I thought it would only reach around Asia and MAYBE America..
I wonder if it'll be on any Australian news programs

I think its sad and pretty cruel to use her misfortune for news headlines rather then focusing on what Ayu really is..but I guess this will be the first time I see her on Australian news at all which will be a change

astameth 9th January 2008 12:21 PM

Another funny one... If you can't read french, simply watch the suposed Ayu concert extract... :headache
