You're taking the numbers too literally. Of course there is no guarantee of a 50% increase in sales if she does TV Promo. However, a release that would generally not have this kind of attention was certainly helped by Ayumi's performance on television, which is something she didn't do for Winter diary.

Agreed. The most important thing my stats professor taught me all those years ago is that correlation does not equal causation. There are so many other factors at work that you can't look at the numbers and definitively say "omg look at what those three minutes on TV did for her sales!".

Is it responsible for all 15k? Of course not, and I didn't suggest that either. But there is not and has never been a correlative relationship between sales and media promotion. Media promotion certainly does affect sales in measurable ways. So, sure, it's not everything but you're suggesting that musicians go through all the organizing, planning, and rehearsal work over and over with no real expectation of better sales. |
