The album ver. of レーザービーム made me think my computer was crashing :laugh A refreshing take on the single ver., but as Polyrhythm said it was too 'choppy' for me :) I'm listening to the rest of the album now, it seems okay so far.

Listened to the whole album, I think Fushizen na Girl and Spice were remixed too, just that it wasn't mentioned. They sound different.
Anyway I love both of the new album mixes!! Toki no Hari and Have a Stroll reminds me so their indie/~Complete Best~ songs! |
Okay, after listening to it all in full, here are my thoughts:
The Opening: Kind of stupid to be honest. You could have done much better Nakata. Thankfully this being the intro isn't the sign of a bad album in this case レーザービーム (Album-mix): I don't have any issue with the changes, like the choppiness or anything. I think it works for the song with the way it already sounded, and it flows brilliantly into... GLITTER (Album-mix): Love the super long intro and how perfectly it follows Laser Beam MY COLOR: REALLY good. There's just something about the chorus I totally love. Definitely my favorite album track 時の針: Um, ew kinda. Not a fan of this at all really. Hopefully it grows on me. It doesn't feel TOTALLY out of place on the album, but it really just isn't my type of song 心のスポーツ: Cute. Nothing particularly special, but not bad at all Have a Stroll: Pretty much the same as my thoughts on Kokoro no Sports, but it has an even more playful sound 不自然なガール: Interesting that they didn't label this one "(Album-mix)" too, since it's clearly remixed in parts. It's nice, since it gives the song a bit of a new feeling. It was always my favorite single from this era, so it's cool to have a slightly different version of it for when I'm listening to the album. We'll see in time if I prefer the original or the album mix Kasuka na Kaori has actually REALLY grown on me today alone too. I had only heard it a few times before since I never bought any of the JPN era singles since I liked them all and was just waiting for the album, but I'm totally loving it more every time I hear it. I've known and liked Natural ni Koi Shite for awhile now and liked it already, but I need to listen to 575 quite a bit more too. The rapping is badass coming from them though. |
The new songs are a bit lackluster. Not awful but the single tracks are the strongest on the album even if there is too many of them xD This album definitely has a different feel from their previous ones. I hope the next album will be different again.

Good thing that all the singles are gold, cause the albums tracks does absolutely nothing to me.

After a few listens Im not happy to say it but album bores me.

The album is good, but just good. Album tracks are nice and fun, in facts it sounds like a techno-pop version of a nursing rhymes. Triangle and GAME was more "adult", the songs are very club-ish and solid, but JPN is just too easy-listening and not really what their genre used to sing. I love MY COLOR, it should be a single track. And one thing for sure, we need songs like edge more.

I can't decide if what I listened to was just choppy and switching volume because it's bad quality or if that's the actual album mix songs..
We'll see. Definitely love MY COLOR!!!! And the singles surprisingly beats the rest of the album tracks. Definitely a more varied work than GAME or Triangle, less club/house. |
I didn't realize something was wrong until around 2:49 when she got up from the ground and looked down as if she was stunned and then didn't do any of the choreography for a couple seconds. Then not until later when she turned around and I actually saw her belt undone. Then I had to go back to see exactly when that happened. I'm assuming it must have been a panned wide shot and not a close up shot when it happened because I can't see when it happened and I can't even see when the actual mike pack drops or where it goes.
And Nocchi kind of looks scared at about the 2:42 point when she rotates around to the front of the group. It was very interesting to watch. |
Just listened to the new album and overall I'm not impressed. :no The album does not have replay value to me since the singles never left a lasting impression on me compared to their earlier ones. "Have a Stroll" was the only new track that I fancied.
Definitely hope they release music that's similar to "edge (⊿-mix)" and "GAME" again. :( |
