Pieces_of_SEVEN 8th November 2014 03:59 PM

When I think rock ballad, I also think of songs like HOPE or PAIN and fated.

Fated for sure. I think it was even described as such at one point officially.

Tom Punks 8th November 2014 04:08 PM

I agree with HOPE or PAIN too. Though I know a lot of people are super picky about what they let be classified as "rock" lol

Pieces_of_SEVEN 8th November 2014 04:14 PM

I can't remember the last time I pre ordered something from yesasia, so I forget- do they charge you when you place the order, or when the item ships/is in stock? It's actually for a sailor moon item but it pertains to ayu items also, I suppose.

BlackSilence 8th November 2014 04:29 PM

Memmorial Address, MOON, You were..., fated, together when..., A song for XX, hanabi -ep2- , criminal, Heartplace, Marionette, Days, even I am could be a rock ballad..... I think her rock ballads are the best kind of ballads.
The rock elements are so vivid in her music, that's what i love about it.

pepper 8th November 2014 06:18 PM

"Fated" isn't very rockish tbh. It's too soft at the verses.
When I think "rock ballad" i hear "Memorial address" instantly.
or "Last Links", "(miss)understood" maybe.
maybe "reminds me" - but it may be too fast for a ballad?

[edit.]

oh, cika - yeah, those too~ maybe besides Days (lol, rock?) and criminal (it's more dramatic than rock, it's just a dark song, it doesn't really mean it's rock XD it's something similar to GUILTY and count down in style.)
but well MOON, Hanabi ~ep II~, Heartplace, Marionette are kind of it. Maybe they are not stricte "rock ballads" but they obviously have those elements. True rock ballad it's Memorial address as I said. xd

I always thought that "is this LOVE?" was a rock ballad... Now I'm not so sure, but maybe...?

Tom Punks 8th November 2014 06:29 PM

I don't agree with HANABI ~episode II~ being rock at all (it's got more electronic elements than anything) or You were... (loud guitars and shout-y chorus don't necessarily equal rock, but then I haven't listened to that song very closely at all).

I'd argue that just because a song has soft parts doesn't mean it can't still be rock inclined (fated). I mean, all the songs in question are pop rock more than "true rock" anyway. fated has a really pop rock arrangement so I think it qualifies regardless of the soft verses.

LEOyumi 8th November 2014 06:41 PM

I'm so excited for this single!
Not having any PVs is a bummer to me, since I liked CoLOURS PVs a lot. But it seems we'll get epic music, so I'm not complaining!

Surreal17 8th November 2014 06:43 PM

still alone may be a rock ballad too. Days definitely isn't a rock ballad. Also, I agree that Hanabi Ep. II is more electronic than rock.

^ Second that. It's been almost four years since a-yu-trance 7. She's PQ, La, and Colours since then. Lots of material to do some remixing with.

I consider still alone a rock ballad. Heartplace, Together When...

I think the confusion is maybe that she says "rock" but we aren't sure if this means "hard rock" like Memorial address, Together When..., Marionette, countdown, or if it means "rock-style" like beloved, untitled ~for her~, or You were...

Pieces_of_SEVEN 8th November 2014 07:19 PM

Yeah people confused "loud chorus" with rock too often around here. lol

And technically with ayu-mi-x 7 they did a remix of each single up until that point, so they didn't even really use material from the most recent albums at the time. So there is a lot of material that they could use for remixes. I'm begging for ayu trance 5.

Delicious n Bold 8th November 2014 07:23 PM

I want to preorder the single but with the Christmas rush it's going to fade into oblivion.

ayumint 8th November 2014 07:25 PM

No way to say was classified in Rock Ballad for me
Can't wait!!!

Zeke. 8th November 2014 09:29 PM

For me, criminal is THE definition of a rock ballad. It is primarily ballad but with rock elements (rumbling guitars throughout the song). Some of the suggestions being made are more "mid-tempo pop-rock". Keep in mind, ayu had mentioned that momentum was not a ballad at one point, so anythinf that follows that type of template may not be considered a ballad by her standards. Anyway, I think we are reading too much into this. She mentioned memorial address and that's good enough. Lol.

Irish_Ayu_Fan 8th November 2014 09:34 PM

All this talk of rock ballads makes me reeeeeeally want a rock compilation album! It'd be amazing, and somewhere to physically release Tell All haha

Does Ayu consider Tell All to be "rock"? It's electronic to me.

I would be behind a rock comp album, but I think most of the tracks would be made up of songs from GUILTY.

Something like A SUMMER ROCK.

I would just love if Ayu did an A WINTER BALLADS compilation. Or A BALLADS 2. Or A BEST 3 -Spring-, -Summer-, -Fall-, -Winter-. Though I don't think we'll see another compilation record for awhile because of how poorly A SUMMER BEST did to avex. (We all know they pushed that out to try to extend the #1 album streak after PQ.) :(

mizuki-7 8th November 2014 09:59 PM

At least 70% of her discography is composed of songs with rock influences /elements or what you want so she can easily choose over all her discography if she want to make an A BEST ROCK someday lol

To me "Tell all" is a Synth Rock song ! It's electronic but still the rock influence is well present =)

Surreal17 8th November 2014 10:41 PM

true, Tell all is a mix of electro with some rock.

Lol! That record probably tastes better than it sounds. I think it'd be more torturous if they were forced to listen to it.

Let's focus in the good things and appreciate that ayu is still releasing music because very few artists can say they are still active at 16th anniversary!! :yes :yes :yes

So excited for the single. But, trying to keep it contained.
