The reception on ATRL has been positive
https://atrl.net/forums/topic/420925...hamasaki-mask/ Arama hasn't posted about the song yet :yrolleyes |
anyone knows how is the song doing on digital charts??
can't stop listening to :P |
I don’t hate it, and I have not loved it, yet. Perhaps the lyrics or PV would make me love it.
I generally like fast paced songs so I can accept this. I don’t particularly like the fact that the melody of the chorus is played so many times while ayu is not singing, borderline giving me a headache the more times I listen to I like the gentle ending “kakusu no…” into nothing-ness. |

The song is okay. I'm not a TK fan.
I am curious about the lyrics though. |

My first impression was also way outdated, 90s song. Could've been better with a different (new) arranger. It's growing on me after listening through the day, though. Won't be a favourite, but I won't skip it.
Am I the only one smelling another TK feature at CDL? |

I feel it's the only thing that can still save this song at this point... Still curious about the "sad yet powerful message" this song will deliver. |
As much as I dislike TK as a person, I can't deny that both Mask and Dreamed a dream are bangers :laugh

I really love MASK; Ayu's voice is so good and blends well with the instrument. Out dated? Yes, but in a good way. I like it so much.

With this one (as with some other recent tracks), I feel there is a bit of wasted potential.
I like the track and it may grow on me. Still looking forward to the pv which looks promising I found the intro, verses, and outro very good. But the chorus is where it kind of dropped off for me. It’s just missing a little something. Both in the composition and arrangement. Honestly even with the composition as is, I would’ve liked more interesting elements in the arrangement and for distinctiveness in some of the layers. It just feels very blah with the chorus. TK really has done better in the (distant) past but it doesn’t seem like as much care is given these days. Overall still an enjoyable track. Really curious about the pv. She looks great. |
Can someone take out the synth from the chorus? I think that will make the song a lot better. Think about monochrome - you don’t need the synth to repeat the chorus melody to have an impact
