Yeah, I agree! Mariah would not do good as a rock singer... I like her style now. So no, I don't think it's bad that she sticks to urban style!

Basically, what I was trying to point out was that the original creator of this thread was saying that they feel that Utada's voice is better than Ayu's, and its their own personal opinion, yet they would go on to try and prove it as a fact, using that Hawaii being colder that Alaska comparison. I just wanted them to realize that by doing that, they are contradicting themselves.

True. People should just state their opinions, give the reason why they feel that way, and move on. And others should accept opinions for what they are :yes

I agree. To be honest, I don't really get why this thread was created in the first place. Stating something like Utada has a better voice in an Ayu forum, is bound to cause an argument, even if people say "but, its my opinion".

wasn't Hikki sick during United Tour? I have the DVD, btw
I just heard she was :D

well, I adore her voice and sinining, but not always, actually
I think there are times when she somehow can't really manage/control the voice
I think she still should work on the voice tehnique so she will sound superb~!
becuase it's really strong & there's smth special about it

but I agree with Lumix all the way :D
Koda has the best voice for me, it's harsh & sexy, she can make it deep & high
she changes the notes very well & quick live
she's good at sining live & has a good voice live tehnique

there are some performances when Ayu sounds awesome
and I like her voice all the way too, but, imho, she still needs some development
because using only vibrato isn't very good

panda87 26th August 2008 05:01 AM

she has a strong voice, indeed... but i hate how she sounded in Kremlin Dusk album version. omfg, she sounded like she was gonna die from lack of oxygen or something. i love the song, but the way she sings makes me frustrated... like, Hikki, you have breathing problems. its like she's forcing out the note that her lungs are almost completely deflated and squeezed out of air. i just dislike how her voice is nowadays especially how it's so unsteady. i'm losing interest in her sloooooooooowly. she just doesn't captivate me anymore like she used to.

pommy48 26th August 2008 05:18 AM

i think this video really proves she have a strong voice, not a very controlled voice, but still strong

^ I have no idea why everyone keeps bringing that up. To be honest, I thought she sounded awful in that cover and that she totally destroyed that song. Covers are definitely not Utada's forte.

Ketsueki Ame 26th August 2008 06:23 AM

this is stupid.

Obviously its going to continue like a vicious cycle because we all like one artist while the other likes someone else.

Everyone has their good and strong points, some may have more strong and/or weak points than outhers, it is up to us really, as in the general majority.

And frankly, it doesn't matter, everytime theres a thread about "OMG UTADA IS BETTER!!!11ONEONE" or "DOMG AYU IS OSSMMMM!!!11" it always turns out like this.

Face it guys, its useless. lol

We should just all go on to appreciating those whom we admire and like and keep it at that while being respectful to what others like to listen/admire as an artist.

^ This. It's as simple as that.

/end thread

i remember this one. she could reach those notes, my gawsh. but her unsteady voice just didn't go with rock songs just like how she keeps losing her breath in her "with or without you" by U2 cover. that's why she's best sticking to her urban style. her voice suits that best which complements it as well. i love "prisoner of love".

dartsofpleasure 29th August 2008 11:27 PM

I don't think Utada has a good voice. She can sing like 4 notes and just uses her head voice (falsetto) for the rest... It's really annoying

MsMiyabi 30th August 2008 12:03 AM

The light were pretty.

The Performance was boring.

Her voice was ok I heard it sound better in the past.

I WANT TO HEAR AYU sing a song in all english.

About 3:11 into her voice goes crazy & gets better. But honestly I think Ayu could have rocked it better

Ayumi Hamasaki focuses too much on her darn Vibrato to be able to rock anything. Ha. Now that's gotten annoying.

ayumisrael 31st August 2008 11:14 AM

ayu's vibratos are the best vibratos ever imo (therefore it's a love or hate it vibrato).
I wish all of the artists I like could vibrate like it actually.

TITANIC 31st August 2008 11:52 AM

vibrato is the hardest lesson in singing not many persons could do that well and ayu deserve it

dddaiyamondo 31st August 2008 09:19 PM

I can't stand when artists vibrato all the time. I don't think Ayumi does it too much tho!

ArchangelLegend 1st September 2008 01:44 AM

All singers mentioned in this thread are appealing in their own unique way.

panda87 1st September 2008 09:07 PM

speaking of vibratos, i think Gackt has the best vibratos. sends shivers up my spine--awesomenessss.
