So you see, BML did badly in physical, and it got over a million download instead. Same as her other singles. Hikki doesn't belong to the physical department anymore. She dominates the digital world instead. And she gets loads of money from that surreal place. This is what I hope to see... cuz eventually cd will be another outdated item (just like vinyl disc, cassettes, MD, LD, vcd, etc.). Right now I treat the digital chart as a indicator of how well a song is received by the general public. Most of the time only hardcore fans buy physical things (e.g., ayu, and obviously those johnny boybands).

Well than we have nothing to worry about people not liking Sunrise/Sunset as it's doing really good digitally or so it seems. Sure, I agree that the people who buy physical singles are mostly the fans and it's not a bad thing Ayu a fair number of hard core fans.

And it seems that the physical sales generally do better if the single doesn't get released digitally (not counting Chaku uta ringtones).

Btw I just noticed and even CAROLS' chaku uta got a million downloads on 2005. xD
I forgot.
Besides HEAVEN that got a million with chaku uta and 100,000 with chaku uta full
On 2005 she also had 750,000 with fairyland's chaku uta (100,000 with full) and STEP you had also 100,000 with chaku uta full and those 3 singles did well physically as well.
hikki did extremely well in legal downloads too.

Sales were better in general. Good times...

Yes. Ayu did have extremely good digital downloads back then. I even remember she was always on top of iTunes whenever she had a new single. It's almost a guarantee for her to get no. 1 back then. Now I dun really know if she can dominate the download chart that well.

Of course it'll be interesting to see how hikki will perform if she's going to release a new song. Atm she's again in her slow mode. (well I'm a bit OT lol)

S/S is doing considerably better than previous newer Ayu singles on iTunes ( :yes ).

In any case, she is losing popularity like everyone else who's been around for a long time. That's OK ( :yes ).

Sunrise PV is still at the top on iTunes. Her songs may not get number one on iTunes always (sunrise did of course) But her PVs always do.
And remember Mirrorcle world, Days/Green and Rule/Sparkle could have been number one two BUT there were multiple versions so people were buying the singles from all different versions, resulting in the singles being all over the charts.

Great!~ All that matters is that the sales haven't dropped much from the previous numbers. It's a good thing S/S managed to beat almost all of this week's releases today. Hopefully it will manage to sell around 9k this week and cross 100k mark :)

a_kingdom21 25th August 2009 12:54 PM

it'll cross 100k in it's third week....
