Quote:

I first heard the name Lady Gaga through a mutual friend. He couldn't stop talking about her. Then I heard her music, and I thought, Wow, I love this kid.

An artist's job is to take a snapshot — be it through words or sound, lyrics or song — that explains what it's like to be alive at that time. Lady Gaga's art captures the period we're in right now. These days, you go to a club and wonder who all these kids are. They don't seem to have jobs. How can they afford to be here? Her song "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich" explains that scene. It's about the New York prep-school party kids she grew up with. It's where she came from. Gaga's lyrics are incredibly literary. When "Bad Romance" starts, the music grabs your ear immediately. Then she opens with the line "I want your ugly/ I want your disease," and all of a sudden you're listening. Most of the stuff on the radio is not very clever, but Gaga presents her ideas in a sophisticated manner. She has an incredible pop sensibility.

People forget how young she is. She is barely 24 — much younger than I was when I became famous. It's very tough being where she is right now. People are pulling her in all different directions. It's hard to navigate that. Try to imagine what you were like at her age, if you still can. I can't wait to see how she grows and what she decides her next act will be. She only has two albums out, but already she is inspiring other artists to go further in their own work.

When I see somebody like Gaga, I sit back in admiration. I'm inspired to pick up the torch again myself. I did an interview with her once, and she showed up with a sculpture on her head. I thought, How awesome. Being around her, I felt like the dust was shaken off of me. I find it very comforting to sit next to somebody and not have to worry that I look like the freak. She isn't a pop act, she is a performance artist. She herself is the art. She is the sculpture.

Lauper is a Grammy Award–winning pop singer

Contact any mod and if they can't they'll redirect it to someone who can :3

Continuing from the last thread, I too think that Telephone is so much of a radio friendly song that it sounds bad live xD

The Japanese translation of the song was entertaining lol

BTW, where is the pic in the first post from, the one with Hello Kitty?

Just some information to add to the first post, taken from Lady Gaga's official website.

First of all, she's releasing an international version of The Remix, which has the same cover as the Japanese one, however it includes the same remixes as the UK one, of which I posted information in the previous thread. So if you want all of the remixes included on all 3 versions, you need the Japanese one and you can choose between International/UK one.

And here information about the USB release of the fame monster:

I don't really know if it'll be the same for your country but I preordered my USB a while back from HMV (they only brought in 10 thank goodness I managed to preorder one!!) and it was S$90 which would be around US$65. I'll only get it in the beginning of May though, which isn't too far back...

ストロボ・EdGE 19th April 2010 01:48 PM

They should wait for Alejandro's MV to be included too so it will be complete as its the last single//

U-GO-BOY 19th April 2010 08:09 PM

he/she "danced" to the part "i want your love and i want your revenge" so it looks like he/she's praying haha

Why would Western fans tackle gaga O_o

When the Britney fan came on stage during her show, he didn't do any serious right? Well, scared the heck out of poor Britney, but nothing too serious.

Japanese fans are very docile though arent they...I mean, they barely even clap or scream...lol

I really love Lady GaGa, but I think I preferred her before she got so big. I have seen her twice. The first time was when she was supporting the Pussycat Dolls. It was the first date in the UK tour in Aberdeen, and we didn't get Ne-Yo, so Lady GaGa did a longer set compared to other dates. It was basically a concert intself and she put so much effort into it. She didn't have nearly as much props and dancers compared to now but she worked with what she had and it was amazing!

The second time was in Glasgow for the Monster Ball tour. It was a spectacular show, but it felt more like a musical compared to the first time I saw her. She seemed like she was acting through the whole show, even when she was taking breaks to speak to the crowd, so it kinda felt like she was fake. She also seemed to rely a lot more on her props and dancers compared to before and didn't put in as much effort with the dancing. I suppose that could be because the first time I saw her, it was her first of a string of shows so she would have been full of energy lol.

I still love her, and would like to see her in concert again. :-D

greggerz189 23rd April 2010 05:06 PM

I think the point of the Monster Ball is for it to be like a musical...

U-GO-BOY 23rd April 2010 06:02 PM

yea, that's why it's called the Monster Ball lol

Yeh, I know that, but I was more meaning the parts where she would actually take a break and speak to the audience on her own. It just seemed like it was scripted and acted out and didn't feel sincere to me at all. She seems to act like that all the time now, whereas the first time I saw her before she was huge she seemed genuinely excited and happy to be there. It seemed more personal. It had the same feeling of when I saw Utada in London. I felt more connected to her.

I still enjoy her performances, but it would be great if she stopped "acting" so much...

I wish that Western artists released like they do in Japan, release singles, then the album. it would make it so things aren't as overplayed as they are now and the excitement would be more for releases.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 29th April 2010 02:39 AM

OMG i was watching this movie Zoolander and gosh xD

it seems that Lady GaGa's sense of fashion is entirely based on it

I mean just watch it and see Mugatu (the bad guy in the movie) he looks just like her sometimes xD same clothes, etc.

I love GaGa but I found this just hilarious

I can't tell you how many times I've wished that exact same thing.

waterballoon 29th April 2010 04:43 AM

Did Gaga... cut her leg off or something? I don't know I heard this from my classmates

SURREAL__RAINBOW 29th April 2010 04:56 AM

she did

why do you think she needs her disco stick for?

U-GO-BOY 29th April 2010 05:22 AM

didn't you know that her discostick was made of the bones of her leg?

waterballoon 29th April 2010 05:28 AM

O_O are you guys serious? omg. then how does she dance... if she's short of a leg. oh wait this is getting confusing...

futureLOVE 29th April 2010 05:45 AM

waterballoon 29th April 2010 05:49 AM

Lady Gaga #5 on TIME Magazine's
100 Most Influential People

ストロボ・EdGE 29th April 2010 10:35 PM

I was looking at it too and I couldn't find the list in order... there were separate sections for Entertainers, Thinkers, Leaders, etc but I couldn't find them all together.

adantatu2 29th April 2010 11:28 PM

she looks like a sexy vampire

greggerz189 30th April 2010 04:23 PM

The Fame Monster outsold Rock'n'Roll Circus today on the ORICON charts.

U-GO-BOY 30th April 2010 07:13 PM

^ wow and it was released so much earlier than RRC..

emi♡ 30th April 2010 07:47 PM

American sales have been blowing me away...in a bad way...

I was listening to the radio and they said that someone's album surpassed someone elses and it sold 98k in the first week...and i was like "wtf." lol

U-GO-BOY 30th April 2010 08:38 PM

I think that's because so many people download the albums and it's not counted as real sales..

AyUta 1st May 2010 05:03 AM

Thanks! :luv2 That article was interesting and so true!

GRACE 3rd May 2010 01:33 AM

*SO EXCITED* :heart

I hope we get pics soon..

ストロボ・EdGE 3rd May 2010 06:09 AM

WTF is that disaster? Is that one of those things where the original is modified to sound like someone else? Just like all of the Muse "covers" by Gwen Stefani that were actually just changed by the pitch or something?

Why would Britney even be singing that song... Lady Gaga wrote it for herself, no?

maze 3rd May 2010 06:19 AM

dunno if this has been posted before..

Preview of the new song "Then You Love Me"
I like it <3

ストロボ・EdGE 3rd May 2010 07:36 AM

^ Don't care for it now, but I didn't care for Bad Romance when it came out and many other GaGa songs so maybe later on~

Is it selfish to be really wanting a new album already...?

emi♡ 3rd May 2010 08:33 AM

on youtube the uploader said that only :32-:47 is actually brit brit...the rest is just whatever so they could finish it I guess...but I cant even tell the difference.
