HMV SINGAPORE no longer selling JP pressing??

Hey fellow singaporeans! is it just me or has our local HMV no longer bringing in jp press?? Just now I called HMV to enquire on RnRC..
Me: hello, is RnRC in already?
HMV employee: yes sir it is.
Me: what country pressing?
HMV employee: local lor..
Me: CD+DVD ah? Then cd only leh??
HMV employee: oh sorry sir we only carry local pressings now..
Me: o.O

PS: no wonder lah when I was at 313@somerset HMV last Saturday I only see BoA IDENTITY CD+DVD.. don't have cd-only jp press..

jiarongisme 27th April 2010 02:26 PM

The Singapore press is out? Wow.

Well, I'm not exactly surprised. With all the K-Pop boom, HMV would save the shipping fees from Japan and pay for the Korean CDs.

murasakinohana 27th April 2010 02:44 PM

Like, seriously lor, i suspected something amiss.. the album came out in Japan on April 14, and usually our local HMV will bring in the CD-Only jpn press first.. but i was at HMV on last saturday (24/04/2010).. don't tell me 10 days later and still no cd-only jpn copies at HMV!! :irked

KarenPang 27th April 2010 03:01 PM

I don't know what happened in HMV's management but the last time I went there (like what 3 weeks ago or so) , the most 'recent' Johnny's single they brought in from Japan was ARASHI's Troublemaker & that single was released last month !

they used to be really efficient in jpop but it seems that after they shifted to 313@Somerset , things more or less went downhill . They don't seem to bring in the latest jpop stock as fast/efficient as before

last time , major releases can be in their shop on the same day if not a day after it's released in Japan

damn sad man , I used to buy a huge bulk of my jpop stuff from HMV when they were at Heeren :(

you know what's the worst thing ? stuff that I enquired to them last Dec & this year in Jan/Feb , they only started calling me back recently this month & I already got those items online a long time ago :tired

majrakun 27th April 2010 03:13 PM

Oh no, really? :( What about live DVDs?

Sorry for going slightly off-topic, but HMV already moved? How do you get to 313@Somerset? I'm going to Singapore in a few days, and since I usually stay at Mandarin Hotel, Heeren is just nearby. XD But it's gonna suck if they don't bring in JP press anymore :/

KarenPang 27th April 2010 03:17 PM

LOL HMV moved to 313@Somerset last year during the Christmas period

it's very easy to get to there if you go by MRT

http://www.313somerset.com.sg/conten...?urlkey=ci_loc

ANYWAY , some updates on the album , HMV Somerset tweeted these 2 messages

- Rock'n'Roll Circus on shelves @ HMV now! Free poster w/ purchase, while stocks last!

- There is a 32-page photobook included into the album

OK for once I'm really surprised that the photobook's left intact after what happened to GUILTY's case

guess this time around Warner S'pore wasn't being an arsehole :innocent

AyuGAME 27th April 2010 03:36 PM

^POSTER!!! damn...i want it...
but i already buy HK version from YA...and there is no way to buy SG version though...so...its not my luck... T_T
so lucky you singaporeans

ya lor, at least that's good news.. i know i sound stupid and silly, being all defensive on the ''now non-existance of cd-only jpn presses'' issue (i don't even buy it as it's toooo expensive)but it's just..tsk!! :no

I also didn't see the CD only / Japan press of BoA's Identity album the last time I was there too

I remembered last year when NEXT LEVEL was released , they brought in the 1st press / CD only edition from Japan

kau , so expensive , it was going for $60 & almost hitting $70 or so :dead2

I know HMV Citylink still has 1 copy left at like what $80+ @_@ :tired

ya! it used to be, like S$82.00 (??) and it dropped to S$79.00 (??).. like as if that REALLY helps.. yeah, when i was at 313@Somerset last Saturday , A COMPLETE~ALL SINGLES~ priced at S$97.00!! my cousin was like saying to me '' eh eh Khai (me), mampos.. mahalnya cd ayumi!!..'' translation ''Wah Khai, die, ayumi cd so expensive..!'' :D

KarenPang 27th April 2010 03:58 PM

ya lor this's why I never believe in paying so much for a Japan press , it's ridiculously expensive & the Yen is forever not working in Sing $'s favour

sure , pure die hard people who insist everything must die die be Japan press in that they commented that the quality's there & all but is it really worth it where you can save 1/2 if not 2/3 of cost to get a OS press ?

at most just wait a few more days on this , nobody will die at the end of the day by waiting

I only get something that's Japan press if the artiste(s) I support doesn't happen to have OS presses of their material

Anyone know how much it cost??!

Need to save up asap before poster disappear!

prussian blue 28th April 2010 04:37 PM

*dancing happily* it comes with the photobookkk YAYYYYYYYYYY

murasakinohana 29th April 2010 04:19 AM

I'm rushing over to HMV this weekend!! :yes

KarenPang 29th April 2010 05:53 AM

LOL I better

I will be heading there later on xD . Will take pics & etc for proof on this

I'm curious to see if it's Warner S'pore that produces the album locally this time round or they import stock from Hong Kong

either way , will keep everyone posted on this :)

LacusClyne 29th April 2010 06:14 AM

errr....what no more japan press???

that sucks! althought their japan press is marked up, but it's convient for people who can't buy online, and i saw tourists buying japan press too, normally i see them buying a lot! at least 5 or more! once i even saw a Eurasian couple buying like 40+ japan versions!

waterballoon 29th April 2010 06:53 AM

it's cheap too! only SGD$22 for R'n'RC!

btw... about the Japan press.. yeah it's been slow recently; I don't think they brought in the Japan press for Tohoshinki's Toki wo Tomete single, but they had Japan press brought in for their BREAK OUT! single. maybe something cropped up in February or something that affected this...

PEARL 29th April 2010 11:01 AM

omg karenpang i will wait for your news~

KarenPang 29th April 2010 11:19 AM

like what Jun Xiang said , I didn't saw the Japan press of Tohoshinki's Toki wo Tomete single being sold here , be it whether in CDRama or HMV or whatever else

I guess it's more marketable/profitable to bring in CD + DVD's of stuff as it's more reasonable priced to me

ANYWAY ...

prices for S'pore press / CD + DVD of Rock'n'Roll Circus as follows :

Gramaphone - S$22.95

HMV - S$21.95 ; you get a free poster while stocks last if you buy it from HMV

it DOES come with the 32 page photobook so rejoice on that Seb xD

some pics I took when I was Cathay's Gramaphone

http://i44.tinypic.com/16m27g3.jpg

The PG sticker's unfortunately not stuck on the CD casing but rather inside on the pic >_<

but at least this time round , that promo sticker looks better/decent as compared to NEXT LEVEL which was terrible on every single level xD

http://i41.tinypic.com/25tuqgj.jpg

funny that the OBI didn't had Warner S'pore's logo but at the back , there's o_O

===

off topic but when I was at HMV Somerset earlier on , I did saw the CD only editions / Japan presses of Johnny's singles that they brought in but it's big rip off for KAT-TUN's Love yourself single man

S$26.95 as compared to NEWS's Sakura Girl & Hey ! Say ! JUMP's Hitomi no Screen which're both going for S$20.95

dammit :o

Meat Pao 29th April 2010 12:07 PM

Ooo the sticker definitely improved by a lot LOL though it would still have been better if they stuck with the original design instead though it's similar.

And yes Karen NL's sticker was just plain nasty LOL

PEARL 29th April 2010 12:45 PM

shucks!
HK ver no photobook oh? if not i might buy another rnrc sg ver ~

KarenPang 29th April 2010 01:02 PM

lol on the contray , both avex HK & Taiwan have made 1st presses of the album

so you don't have to worry on that . You only should worry if Warner S'pore does or not since they didn't do that for GUILTY's case

guess for once this time round , they wised up lol

Oh never mind, I bought it at CD-RAMA just awhile ago. S$20.95 no poster though.. Like I really care about the poster.. :innocent

KarenPang 29th April 2010 01:57 PM

^ lol yeah man , my room's running outta wall space somemore to house all of my BREAKERZ posters xD

10 & counting xD

aerolord 29th April 2010 03:57 PM

Bought it at HMV two days ago. Cost 21.95 like people said and it came along with an artbook and poster.

However, the poster from HMV... I must say I am quite disappointed as they use scotch tape to tape the poster, so it is hard to remove the scotch tape entirely as there will be residue left. With the residue left, that part easily become backish(dirty) as it will just collect all the dust and other dirty material.

So I went to HMV exchange and request for a non-tape poster, and luckily they found one(or some?) behind the counter! Again, I am a happy customer. Though I not sure if the scotch tape idea is from HMV itself or the distributor though, hopefully I can write a mail to tell them not to us scotch tape again :D

KarenPang 30th April 2010 10:40 AM

I was at Westmall earlier on & I went to the Popular bookstore

they were selling the album , S$20.95 but got poster being given leh o_O

xenolord 30th April 2010 11:30 AM

I bought my CD+DVD of RnR at HMV at 313. It cost 21.95 like people said, with artbook and a poster.

I am rather disappointed with the poster as they use scotch tape to tape up the poster. So when removed, there will be residue left on the poster. So I left it on my table, next day I woke up, somehow it become black in that area. So I went back to exchange it and request for one that isn't taped. Luckily they got one behind the counter :D

yoshino 30th April 2010 05:03 PM

yeah!!! That's freaking good news to see that they included the poster n the photobook. N thanks Karen for the info n picts!! omg I'm so excited now. I can onli get my copy nx week when I'll be at somerset.. zzz..

ar..no wonder when right after the official release date of RnRC I went to HMV for a few times but didnt see the JP press. I wasn't interested in getting the JP press but was jus wondering how come it didnt arrive at their store very soon. Thanks for clearing up btw. I can't wait for my OS ver copy now.. BUT sobs I hav full day lessons this weekend I can onli get it nx week!

oh really?? well, maybe here at IMM CD-RAMA, they give out the poster to CUSTOMERS WHO OPEN UP THEIR MOUTHS AND ARE BOTHERED TO ASK FOR THE POSTER.. :rolleyes

waterballoon 1st May 2010 05:40 PM

lol that's why I don't buy from CD-Rama anymore... notoriously bad packaging... it makes me believe the quality's just lower than HMV.

For anyone, just try HMV. That's my "rule" ;P

KarenPang 1st May 2010 05:41 PM

LOL

I saw a blue sticker with the words 'free poster given' that's being stuck in the front of the album when I was at Westmall's Popular on Fri

did you saw it ? I'm guessing it's a no

DUH!! i saw it.. but i just couldn't be bothered to ask about the poster cos I don't want it.. :D

waterballoon 1st May 2010 05:51 PM

^ u mean they wouldn't give the poster at the branch of CD-RAMA you bought unless you actually ASKED them? O_O wth

KarenPang 1st May 2010 05:56 PM

lol I don't need the poster (I don't have anymore room wallspace as it's all taken up by BREAKERZ x) ) & let alone the dumb boxset which takes up so much un-necessary space in my room (should I ordered it I mean)

I'm contented with my album & the photobook , it's more than enough for me but obviously some people are so uncontented with stuff :innocent & insist in die die have every nook & cranny of ayumi

like really , what good you will get ? I don't understand some people *shrugs

waterballoon 1st May 2010 06:11 PM

i have a lot of posters not put up LOL. I collect them so I can use them in my house when I live alone next time~ the more the better!

jiarongisme 2nd May 2010 10:12 AM

I went to Jurong Point's CD-RAMA just now and they were playing the album and put it on shuffle.

Anyway, I checked out the new release shelf AND the J-Pop shelf. None of the albums were in perfect, not even very good condition. Sheesh.

PEARL 2nd May 2010 10:40 AM

what do you guys mean like not perfect? >.>

KarenPang 2nd May 2010 10:44 AM

lol I also don't know , maybe Jia Rong should eloborate this a bit more

but at least this time round , the photobook's left intact . I remembered when GUILTY was produced locally , pretty much everyone want to throw knives & eggs & whatever at Warner for not producing/including the photobook in

I guess this time round , they know better lol

jiarongisme 2nd May 2010 10:44 AM

The obi isn't placed nicely, therefore there are folds on random edges of the obi. Booklet inside the case isn't placed properly. Might be printed too big for the case. Promo stickers are all over the place, not consistent, not professional. PG sticker in the front, bottomr right hand corner. Think (m)u CD+DVD local press. It's so prominent and the color clashes witht he colors of the cover. Unsightly. :no

PEARL 2nd May 2010 04:35 PM

what the... that sucks!!
green/white one red/black >.>
so sloppy...at least they bought the photobook in..
i am still sad that i don't have the GUILTY one cos that time i am broke
and bought the SG ver.

KarenPang 8th May 2010 10:31 AM

anyway if you were to buy the HK press of the DVD from HMV HK , inclusive of shipping it's about S$44.45+ , almost the same price as what CD-Rama charges

nanakopy87 8th May 2010 11:07 AM

play-asia sells it at USD28.90.i got mine free from play-asia because i manage to get commission from them.i accumulated the commission from day 1 i use their service till now =.="

jiarongisme 8th May 2010 02:19 PM

Went to Citylink's HMV just now and once again, not a single perfect/very good condition copy in sight. The slipcase always bulge up at the spine when it's supposed to be flat. I think they put the security barcode strip there.
