I guess her fans got so laid back in the sense that nobody including myself expected that hellcat did really well for a debut mini album
& when ATTITUDE came along , that backfired big time & to add salt to injury , SHOCK -Unmei- wasn't included I still feel if that was included in ATTITUDE , sales & chart position would have been better but she wasn't able to avoid the dreaded 2nd album syndrome curse === Kuroki will be on MUSIC STATION YAY :D 2010.05.28

obviously meisa isn't the best singer in the world, and she might not be the best performer, either. but her music creer is still very new to her. you hardly see her perfom compared to seeing her model & act. so really, you have to at least respect meisa for putting in her effort and trying her best. if sony could arrange some more performances for her to have experience, then of course that would help. but meisa must be busy with modeling and acting, so maybe i shouldn't really blame sony all the time...:laugh
IMO, she has the potential to become better, as long as she still sticks to her music career. i'll always respect her for trying, so it's not that easy to perform, i would assume. :P ...sorry to write such big posts, LOL. anyway, i liked the performance, and i saw meisa smiling alot, so she must have been happy. i can't get over how beautiful she looks, though. :weep ....and it also seems to be meisa's birthday today (well, it's not the 28th in japan anymore, but still...) so happy 22nd birthday to her!! :heart |

I can't speak for other model/singer/actress like Yamada You but I think Kuroki's 1 of the more hardworking ones out there in juggling different careers
somemore she even cowrote & co-composed some of her material in hellcat & SHOCK -Unmei- which's commendable & not easy to do at all anyway she will be on HEYx3 & Himitsu no Arashi-chan . It will be amusing to see Downtown insult her with their DoM & DoS traits xD :laugh |

Much, much better than ATTITUDE which I think would've made a killer single but was a little too one-note for a mini album. "5 -FIVE-" and "So Smooth" are clearly the strongest tracks on the single while "The Only One" is a little weird. It sounds like it was written for a group to sing since it musically changes so clearly at different points in the song. It might've worked better if they used that idea and produced it so it sounded like a different Meisa was singing each part instead of how in its current state it just sounds like she's taking a big gasp of breath between each line and stanza. :P Overall 5 -FIVE- a very strong single; I just wish it had instrumentals for all the tracks since they're all so interesting. |

attitude is far worse than hellcat. so i am actually glad shock was never on it. the amazingness of the song really imo couldn't make attitude any better. I can enjoy the song in full just on it's single. (although it's b-side is imo one of her worst songs ever but the bad girl remix is just as amazing as the original and it's so cool to hear the instrumental of shock, it's just as good as the original song). hopefully though it'll be on her next album, that topped with 5 should prove to be a more promising album.

I actually like ATTITUDE... the problem was that it was way too rushed, as in not including the single, being a second mini-album, etc.

i really don't think ATTITUDE was that...horrible. idk, it seems like people absolutely despise it. :laugh was not including SHOCK really that bad? cuz, imo, it didn't "fit" in with the rest of the songs. so i'm glad it's probably going to get the full-album treatment.
i think the reason why it didn't perform well was because she's an idol. idols' first release are usually their best-selling. i still think that's the reason hellcat sold the way it did. i mean, SHOCK, ATTITUDE, & 5 -FIVE- did not perform as well as it! and not to mention there wasn't much promo from her end... |
Honestly Eirynne , I think everyone including myself was surprised when hellcat did really well since it was Kuroki's very 1st release to begin with .
hellcat didn't had any singles but I guess having 3 PVs being included did the work & all the tracks were really solid . Also Kuroki co-composed 3 songs on there & most importantly , hellcat did not had any introduction/interludes . Maybe if you take away the interludes/intro from ATTITUDE , things might have been better . I honestly haven't seen that many mini albums with that many intro/interludes though O_O I think it's from there that fans might kinda feel short changed & they probably were even more pissed off that SHOCK -Unmei- wasn't included since it was released way before ATTITUDE did lol well it's just my analogy on things so x) |
yeah, since it's her first release, it sold well. that's what i was trying to get across, lol. generally speaking, that's how things usually go in J-ent. Leah Dizon is probably another example of her first releases as a singer sold better than her latter.
perhaps the interludes were a problem, idk, but it's still a mini-album in the long run. 6 songs instead of 9 with the interludes. i know SHOCK was released beforehand, but i still think SHOCK would not fit in ATTITUDE if it was included. again, my opinion. ;) |

And I don't think the fact that she co-composed 3 songs would make people buy the album more lol At the end of the day, is what customers want! And maybe they just needed to give her a try with her first album, and maybe 50% or more didn't like it, so they didn't buy her next works? I think that could be the reason why her sales aren't as good as her first release. The excitement of her breaking into the music industry was just for the first release... now is kinda meh it seems (looking at the sales). Plus, her lives weren't even live!! xD which somehow goes against her I think. |
