Cantopop vs. Mandopop
What do you prefer, or rather, what makes up a bigger percentage of your library?
Mandarin for me...I can understand some of it, but not Cantonese. I also tend to prefer the trends of Taiwanese artists over HK artists, with some notable exceptions (Karen Mok....OH MY GOD KAREN MOK!!!!) |
Sorry, mods, I thought I was in the polls subforum when I posted this. >_<;
Mandarin pop
C-pop.
Mandopop
I rarely listen to cantopop...Something about the language when sung is a bit weird for me~ But I do like some of the classics in cantopop |
Mandopop for sure :yes

Mandopop. Cantopop is too accented for my liking, especially in ballads. Plus I've been exposed more to Mandopop.

Mandarin pop
Mandarin pop :)
eeeh call me stupid but what's the difference? xD.
AyuHamasaki01: language ;)
Canto / Mando.. it is really hard question, mandarin chinese sounds a little bit better for my ears, but my most favourite artists sing in cantonese (Joey, Karen etc.) so i cant choose ..i just prefer chinese music :) |
if jolin is a Mando so it's my favorite then :D
I always think people speaking/singing in Cantonese are fighting....
both equally!
I like them both equally.
I understand Mandarin music more than Cantonese music though. |
mandopop. but one thing i dont really like about mandopop is that their lyrics usually dont make any sense.
Mandopop, it doesn't seem as boring as Cantopop in my opinion. Sad thing is, I understand Cantonese better than Mandarin. LOL

Also, Cantonese inflection does sound a bit strange to me, but only since I began to learn Mandarin. Before then, I couldn't always hear the difference. Now I wonder how I could have possibly gotten them confused. :shakehead Some HK artists who also sing in Mandarin do their best work in Cantonese though. :heart |
I listen to Mandarin Pop mostly, like Jolin, Jay Chou, Jam Hsiao, A mei etc... they all have good music :)
but Cantonese Pop - OMG, I love Eason Chan <--------------- he is actually the only cantonese-speaking artist i listen to. One of my all-time favorite singers. <333 his music is VERY good~~! |
i dont listen him so much, but his album Listen To Eason Chan is masterpiece! One of the best canto albums :)
Mando :)
Mandopop!!!
I like some Cantonese bands, but mostly I stick with TWpop/rock.
Even though im a chinese but i seems to love listening to other languages other than my own language..(god knows how long i have not been listening to mandopop artist like 5 years ago?!!?)
Cantopop for me~ there are some who have good vocals. |
MANDO FTW 100%
Mandopop ftw! I can't stand cantopop (no offence here).
I understand some mandarin, and i know only like 3 words in cantonese. My favourite chinese singers are Angela Chang and Stephanie Cheng, one is from Taiwan, the other one from HK... Well, i don't know, i guess i have more mando songs in my library, because i also listen to mainland china music. So i choose mandopop.
Both about equally
