Which Asian language do you listen to most?

You can only pick one! This isn't to say any language is better than another, but what do you listen to the most as far as Asian music?

I'm no expert, so I apologize to anyone whose native language was not included. In that case, please feel free to make recommendations of artists who sing in your language, as I'd love to hear. :yes

StarSUCKER 22nd May 2010 04:56 PM

Sorry, mods, like my previous poll, I had a tab open and I thought I posted this in the polls subforum. Please move it. >_<;;;

miroro 22nd May 2010 04:59 PM

korean :)

KarenPang 22nd May 2010 05:02 PM

I vote for Japanese

I don't think I will listen to Korean as I cannot understand the language & I don't buy the overhype that the media drums up here

also it took me a good 4 years & counting to get used to the way Japanese music's like & I don't want to spend that same amount of time & $ on other languages of music again D:

Picaflor 7/4 22nd May 2010 05:04 PM

ll moments ll 23rd May 2010 03:33 AM

Japanese. a little bit of Korean. but that's about it.

i've been listening to J-pop since 2003. K-pop since......last year, lol. i'm definitely more comfortable with J-pop since i'm learning the language as well. but i listen to whatever is out there!

Beauty4123 23rd May 2010 03:40 AM

japanese. it's the first non-english language that i've ever listened to, so i feel the most comfortable with it. i've been listening to it for like..5 years, so it's like a part of me by now, lol. i did listen to korean music 2 years ago, but that was only the wonder girls. i just tried them out since they were popular, but i haven't listened to them since then. i just can't get into k-pop, at all. the language is not appealing to me, and honestly, all i hear about is kpop, so IMO, i think it's a bit overrated. i don't even listen to BoA's korean music, just her japanese material. :P i have no interest in chinese music either (but i do loooove chinese food, if that counts? :laugh).

non3ko 23rd May 2010 03:44 AM

Japanese and some Korean.

paper_doll 23rd May 2010 06:35 AM

Mostly Japanese, followed by Mandarin, then probably Mongolian, then Cantonese and a tad of Korean.

y_nathz 23rd May 2010 06:46 AM

I even listen to Japanese more than Indonesian :laugh

brand new love 23rd May 2010 09:00 AM

TITANIC 23rd May 2010 02:44 PM

English followed by Japanese. thats it

Miltonic 23rd May 2010 04:32 PM

Japanese, I haven't got into the others very much like kpop, I feel i should know Japanese by now lol

majrakun 23rd May 2010 04:41 PM

Japanese, definitely. I also listen to some Indonesian songs, but only certain appeal to me. Japanese songs dominate my iTunes, but there are more variety in the English artists I listen to :laugh

Chibi-Chan 24th May 2010 05:20 PM

I only listen to J-Pop. I think it's because I love the country and culture and also language so much, that I'm not interested in other music... XD I also don't listen to englisch music or german music, which is my native language.

CaseNumber:825 24th May 2010 11:20 PM

I agree with this.

emi♡ 25th May 2010 08:50 PM

Japanese :D

but I have a bit of Korean, and very very little Chinese...

I really enjoy the Korean language in song...but I havent found a ton of music from there that I like yet...just stuff here and there.

sugarbasil 25th May 2010 08:59 PM

English and Japanese 50/50. I used to be into a lot of Kpop and Cpop back during my Asian music peak (lol. And that was probably 4-5 years ago), and haven't touched the stuff until about a week ago. I've been listening to a lot of MBLAQ and C.N.Blue in the last week. :laugh

I just find Japanese music to sound more fluid (the words themselves). When I stopped listening to Cpop and tried listening to it again once I though 'how the hell could I listen to this before?' :laugh It's too choppy for me. It just doesn't flow nicely (in my personal opinion as a foreigner).

Ayumi27 26th May 2010 05:37 AM

I guess Japanese, like most here... Though Cantonese music closely follows

Teppei-chan 26th May 2010 12:54 PM

I just listen to some certain korean / chinese mandarin singers. Even though I love the sound of the chinese language!
I used to try out new Kpop singer or bands once in a while but I stopped by now. I am a bit confused with their release system.

ILoveGeniuses 14th June 2010 03:55 PM

Japanese is top for me, but is very closely followed by Korean.... I also listen to a bit of Chinese, but I honestly can't tell the difference between Cantonese and Mandarin when hearing it. All I know is Mandarin is much more common around here.

Malay- my native language. I listen to them rarely. I just listen to them when my friends or my family switch on the radio of the channel they like. other than that, it's no.

Indonesian- same as Malay

Chinese. I knew one or two songs. But not reli know anything other than that. but atm, i reli love Para Para Sakura by Aaron Kwok (I know it's an old song bt well...)

Others, I never listen one.

mobius 25th July 2010 04:30 PM

I listen mostly to Chinese (Both Mando and Canto)

Japanese would be 2nd mostly Ayu's and alan's music with a little Namie and Ami Suzuki

3rd would be Vietnamese because of Minh Tuyet. I really enjoy her music.

I do listen to a few Korean, Indian, and Tagalog songs here and there.
