Do you like the song "glitter"?
 

I was going to make this a poll but I decided to have a discussion instead.

I noticed just browsing around the site that a lot of people don't like the song glitter. It's my number 1 favorite Ayu song! I heard this song and fell in love with it! glitter is amazing to me and it means a lot to me and I can't even tell you why! I just love it! I can't emphasize how much I love this song! haha!

So do you like it, love it, hate it and why?

And no need to be harsh with the song if you hate it >< right?

I suppose the reason a lot of people dislike it is because it sounds a lot like her previous (and arguably better) summer releases (Greatful Days, July 1st, fairyland, Blue Bird). When I first heard it I thought "Oh great, another generic summer single" and was disappointed. I also really hate the glitter/fated pv so that didn't help. I like glitter okay now, but to me it's kinda forgettable.

edit: but the version on Ayumix 6 is AWESOMME

I like it sometimes. I have to be in the mood for it. One thing that bugs me about it is her voice.. I was listening to it earlier and realized just how bad it sounds, now I can't listen to it without focusing on that.

I really like this song. I'll admit, the PV didn't increase my excitement about it, but it's still a fun, summery song. It's also a good segway for non-Ayu fans in China: a friend of mine didn't know Ayu, but now sings glitter all the time - she watched the PV because of the male lead from Hong Kong whose name I can't recall. :)

I do. :laugh;; I love especially the chorus and the instrumental break. One thing that sometimes annoys me is the repeating "wowowo, yeahyeahyeah" part, without it the song would definitely be great.

Acording to BLUE BIRD someone said that is weird that i hate BB so much and love glitter. But glitter, for me, got this happy power that BLUE BIRD don't have :C

I really like it! It gets me in a really happy mood like no other summer song can haha!!

I can't stand listening to BLUE BIRD more than once but glitter seems to have such an energy that explodes! I don't like the PV much, although I would have liked the PV to be near to what she was doing in the mirror passage on the PV.

I like it, it's a summerish song, and it makes me happy listening to it when I'm in the mood for it ^-^

yes i do. . .however i prefer the Soul Central remix ^___^ its actually probably in my top 5 of ayu remixes. . . but original glitter too is a lovely song

I like it! At the time of release, I enjoyed it much better than fairyland and BLUE BIRD (I liked those too but glitter was better - now I like fairlyand better). It's has more electronic-ness to it. Perfect for the Summer and just made me want to go for a good run!

I remember this quote I used to have in my sig that another member commented:

"The people who hate glitter are probably the ones who get mad when Ayu releases anything that isn't alterna or something"

I love that quote! That's awesome haha! (Not to mention alterna has to be my least favorite song) Also a lot of people are mentioning BLUE BIRD. I wasn't too fond of that song either. glitter is so much better and upbeat. I feel like I can't even compare the two.

Lol, I like alterna and have recently really grown to LOVE it but I know for the longest time everyone on AHS was obsessed with it. It was like, ok let's move on. Lol.

I like glitter... it beats Greatful Days, Fairyland, BLUE BIRD for me.

it's just one of those simple songs that are just really uplifting and pure energy and fun, and it's so happy...just makes you want to dance and stuff~

I really really love the melody of it as well...I thought it was really catchy without being clichy, since it's kind of unique in a way. It was actually the melody that made me love it first...I usually am not one for these kinds of songs...but this one is awesome!

I understand if people would be annoyed by it, but...I kinda give it props since it's just a purely fun and happy (brainless) lol song...and it's always always nice to have some of those...just to mix up your repertoire a bit...and like I said...it's not totally generic...even if the arrangement is a little expected...the melody owns. So much potential for power if sung right...

I loved it even more after reading the lyrics translation...it's a really inspirational and meaningful song.

I love the name 'glitter' too, I think it really matches the song overall in sound and lyrics.

For me, its an OK song, probably my least favorite from the album. I do like the short film "Distance Love" though.

I like glitter. At first, not really. I just preferred her darker songs, but in the right mood, glitter is perfect. Besides, glitter was one of the first songs from Ayu I heard on crunchyroll, and even when I still didn't like it, I always catch myself singing it subconsciously.

Also, when I'm bored, and screamed in my, "Quick, think of a Japanese song!" glitter's chorus would start, lol.

It really depends on my mood for if I like it or not, but in most cases I don't really like it, even the placement on there is pretty right on based on what the tracklisting means by means of placement on GUILTY.

When it first came out I didn't really care for it. There was just something about the melody that annoyed me. It wasn't that it was cliche or anything, it was more like, "...OMG how annoying!" That was a stupid explanation. >_<

But now I really love it. It's super upbeat and puts me in a good mood. :)

At the start I really disliked glitter. because of it's extemely girly-sound, but somehow after forcing myself to listen to it around a ten times I came to like it.

I have mixed feelings for it. When it came out is the time when I first noticed Ayu and glitter/fated was the first Ayu songs I bought. Sometimes I like it, other times I just don't care for it. If it had a decent PV, maybe I'd like it more.

I really liked glitter and that hasn't changed; I like the combined pvs for glitter/fated.

glitter seems generic, I suppose, but there's something I really enjoy about it, and the lyrics, while simple, I can relate to. I'm not saying it's the most brilliant song she's done, but it's definitely a song that I personally can enjoy.

"fairyland" gets the place in my ears most of the time,
but "BLUE BIRD"? A little less, I guess~
