I think she has something planned for the blossom pv, or something else planned in general! Really looking forward to it.

From Misa-chan:
NEW SINGLE 「MOON / blossom」 set for release 14 July!!

Aiming for the 50th single, the first in a series of 3 consecutive works!
This 48th single is a double A-side featuring the widely-acclaimed famous songs 「MOON」 and 「blossom」!!
Both tracks are the current hot topics and much-welcomed comeback works of the composer for debut song 「poker face」 and famous work 「A Song for ××」, Hoshino Yasuhiko!
「MOON」 has been released as a limited chaku-uta to fanclub members who purchased the album 『Rock'n'Roll Circus』, and the full version has also been sung during live performances. This is one song that everyone has been wanting to be made a single.
「blossom」 is part of the large-scale tie-up promotion with Zespri, with it being the CM song for the 「Gold Kiwi, Green Kiwi」 CM. A number with a catchy tune, characteristic of Mr.Hoshino, this song's melody remains with the listener and brings on a feeling of breeziness associated with the coming season.

Popular songs from album 『Rock'n'Roll Circus』, such as 「Microphone」, 「Don't look back」, 「Last Links」 and 「meaning of Love」 are coupled with the new single as remix versions. Along with a DVD containing the video and making clips of 「MOON」 and 「blossom」, 3 versions of the single are to be released!

★Special first-press item: Serial Number Access Card

I can't wait for the covers to appear. I wonder what they'll look like...

Andali 3rd June 2010 10:56 AM

hope the covers have blossoms on them, that'd be so kawaii

Keiichi_JPU 3rd June 2010 11:25 AM

Well.. If she takes the title very seriously, we'll get a cover where she's bathing in moonlight among the sakura trees :luv2

(but it'll probably just be a studio glamour shot)

The idea is nice, but I would prefer something aside from sakura. If there's anything the Japanese have used so much that it's become a cliché, it's sakura XD

nice!
But MOON really doesn't like a summer single -_-
so I classify it to vogue Far away SEASONS II

gallowsCalibrator 3rd June 2010 12:41 PM

Ah, I wish we'd have new information soon!! It's going to be released so soon!!

Ah, and this is such a coincidence... Ayu's newest 2 releases were both on birthdays in my family XD Rock 'n' Roll Circus was April 14th, my brother's birthday, and MOON/blossom is July 14th, my step brother and step sister's birthdays!! <3

Maybe not, but I'm betting that blossom will...

rakeru 3rd June 2010 05:58 PM

I hope the 3 singles' covers will have some kind of pattern, a la vogue-Far away-SEASONS. As a few people have mentioned before, I agree that at least this cover should feature Ayu with the moon.

pepper 3rd June 2010 06:10 PM

I always have higher hopes for singles than the album (sceptical about albums Oo) and it's arghhhh killin' me, waiting waiting waiting~

bluegie 3rd June 2010 06:15 PM

I wish... the cover will feature ayu standing on the moon instead of the moon hanging in the sky.

Then.. some sorta beautiful weird flowers surrounding her, instead of the usual sakura. Besides, the sakura season is gone already.

I just want them to be kinda creative (and nice typo, good poses)

Kazeyomi 3rd June 2010 06:36 PM

I'd like a cover with Ayu lying on the water. Like the 2010 calendar's pic, but with long pale blond hair, white dress lotus flowers all around her and moon reflection.

Would be a nice cover imo.

That would be amazing actually! You should be her art director! :laugh

No beachy theme with flowers, noooo!~ So clique :D And the Sunrise cover was so ugly :C

AyusakiFan 3rd June 2010 10:03 PM

I usually don't buy singles but I'm hoping that she does something special with these upcoming singles to commemorate her journey to her 50th single like she did with her 10th anniversary singles. I've been debating which CD I should buy but I think it may just come down to the cover and if she does anything special with it.

JackieRos 3rd June 2010 10:11 PM

I'm so excited for the remixes!!!

for the cover, I just want something like & with the moon behind her

adantatu2 4th June 2010 12:49 AM

I hope something better than Sunrise /Sunset please

love in music 4th June 2010 12:56 AM

^ I don't think that it would be possible for it to be worse unless they tried really hard. Doesn't she have a new design team and everything now? The design for YW/B and RnRC was great.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 4th June 2010 01:10 AM

Yeah, I'm actually confident in the covers.

CHE.R.RY 4th June 2010 01:27 AM

I'm really anxious to see the covers...I just hope it's not another Mirrocle World or Days/GREEN-looking cover :thud

:thud

Those are like my favorite Ayu covers :luv2 (seriously, like half the reason I'm buying the singles is so I can look at those gorgeous covers in person lol)! So I pretty much hoping the opposite, lol.

But again, as long as the covers look NOTHING like S/S then I'm good. XD

duque 4th June 2010 05:53 AM

agreed
ANYTHING but S/S style will be fine

Zeke. 4th June 2010 06:41 AM

It seems everyone knows she got a new design team - how does everyone know this? Lol.

polka-dot-jewel 4th June 2010 06:44 AM

Who is this "everyone"? lol. She just used a different team for RnRC... did she say she was completely changing it up now or something?

After Sunrise/Sunset, things went weird in Ayu world.

Utsumizm started to go by Mizumo, her design team changed from RICE MOMOYA to random other design firms (You were.../BALLAD, the TeamAyu magazines since then, and Rock'n'Roll Circus/AT09 were done by different people. The AT08/AT09 book was probably the last thing they did...), her nailist changed from Bancho to the assistant nailist (now head nailist) Minazou, and a few other random little things. (Bancho still randomly hangs out with Ayu, so it's not like they split and went separate ways or anything.)

I just thought things felt a bit different, and after looking things up, it seems like the the people who were a part of RICE MOMOYA all left, or that group just dissolved. Shinichi Hara is no longer the Art Director/Design Director for her works. (he basically owned RICE MOMOYA I think?) There is one name or two that was originally RICE MOMOYA that's now under some other name that I saw recently. -rambling-

y_nathz 4th June 2010 07:12 AM

I hope the cover will be gorgeous, it's for her 48th-50th single anyway! :luv2

Countdown Live is only 1 night, meaning the MC is already in there, stuffed between 2 songs. It doesn't need a seperate MC DVD like the Arena Tours.

i see. i thought they will put 'emcee session' on the tracklist'
i don't mean to have another disc for emcee session :P

hidekirby 4th June 2010 07:55 PM

I'm going for something natural/candid! I hope it will be the case

Mirrorcle 4th June 2010 09:07 PM

I think it'd be sweet to have a cover like this:

(Warning: It's just a 30-second paint-sketch. 8D)

But, I'm pretty sure I'm the only one that would like such a weird cover. xD

love in music 4th June 2010 09:39 PM

^ Is that.. ayu holding a fake moon? Oh man, I think there would be more complaints than the S/S cover if that happened.

Is she lifting up the whole moon? XD As for me, I would like ayu lying or sitting on a crescent moon wearing a long silky dress with her hair straight and long.

ayumisrael 5th June 2010 01:25 AM

Reminding everyone though that it's MOON/blossom though yeah maybe there will be a moon and the MOON/blossom versions and something with flowers in the blossom/MOON versions if at all. xD

Mirrorcle 5th June 2010 06:54 AM

LOL, okay maybe I should've explained my cover... xD
She's supposed to be hanging off the moon, but I guess it's now left for interpretation, hahaha...

Ayusan 5th June 2010 10:11 AM

If the covers would be as the ones on very top ... never I would buy the cd, no matter if I like the songs, urgh, no thanks ! She should refine heavily her cover concept because .... or maybe get a concept ! *roll eyes* people say who care about the cover ? Me I do, no wish to get that at home !

Her best summer cover is Blue bird for me, the poster is even better !

fuawas 5th June 2010 10:13 AM

^^I like the idea haha
But I hope she stops making diva covers and for this one makes a natural one. I love her previous covers (even S/S in its own way lol), but I'd love to see a natural one ^^

freedreamer 5th June 2010 10:55 AM

the more I listen to MOON..the live wan...the more I feel like Ayu sings so superbly..The emotion in the song and more importantly and actually picture a STORY within the MELODY. I think thats the magic Hoshino has...not saying that the other composers lack it..but clearly, MOON's melody progresses very beautifully and the arrangement from Yuta just made it another heart-wrenching rock ballad.

love in music 5th June 2010 10:58 AM

Ok let's be realistic here, ayu is never going to have a "natural" CD cover.

I agree. I really like her vocals there. I'm hoping that the emotion isn't somehow lost in the studio recording though. Sometimes that happens where the lives are a lot more emotional.

Maybe something with a cross of cherry blossoms and a moon on the cover. That would be pretty :). Probably be a little too overwhelming but. it's something! Along with ayu's pretty little face of course! :laugh

Spoiler:
What did you smoke ? :think

Personally, i didn't even listen to the live until the end, mostly because of Ayu's voice... And i don't find that the melody "progresses very beautifully" : it comes to the chorus TOO suddenly!

Maybe it will be better with CD-quality, but so far, i don't like MOON, neither blossom, and actually i don't know where the hell is the "Rock" which all of you find in this single... :rolleyes

so apparently Hexagon All Stars is releasing a single on the same day as ayu.

I don't know anything about Hexagon All Stars but I guess this means that we all really have to show our support for Ayu for this single so she can be on the top of the charts. I haven't preordered yet as I'm waiting for the covers but I'm all for helping making Ayu number one.

Nackar_91 5th June 2010 05:38 PM

Hexagon All Stars might actually be troublesome ... but their groups always sell less and less with each and every release.

truehappiness 5th June 2010 05:47 PM

Hexagon's groups' sales have been going down a lot. I think the fad kinda died down. (Except for Yusuke, I guess?) And Shuchishin was really the only super successful group from there, I think.

:rolleyes

How can you judge if you didn't even listen to the song until the end part?
Did anyone even find anything "Rock" about this single? :shakehead I think you should calm down tbh.

Well...that's really sad because I felt a lot for it...both her voice and the melody. It's rock by Ayu-standards duh?

Crystal_Ageha 5th June 2010 08:34 PM

Wait, people are saying MOON is...rock? Wut? >_> Ayumi's "rock" standards are actually a lot more 'rock' than many 'rock bands' these days (which are often just as pop as she is, lol), so that's not any more proof... Honestly, I hear more keyboard than anything, and only significant guitar in the beginning and bridge. Even the chorus has normal amount, at least for the live.... 'Cause also, her songs are usually a lot more rock in the live versions, since Yocchan goes all out, hah. The guitar usually isn't as heavy in the studio versions, and I'm assuming that will be the case here, too. If not, then maybe you can go as far as saying it's a pop, slightly rock influenced ballade.....But yeah, definitely more pop than anything, in my opinion.

The last Hexagon All-Stars single released in 2009. It really didn't do that great, and Hexagon was kinda really big at the time.

Yeah, and Yusuke's sales have been dropping as well. From 380k to 230k to 180k to 120k. I don't think it'll be much of a problem.

I haven't seen anyone except freedreamer say it was rock.. why are people acting like everyone is saying it? o_o

Crystal_Ageha 5th June 2010 11:58 PM

^ I didn't know who all said it, just that a few people brought it up in a row. I was wondering, myself, if I missed something. :laugh

Shuchishin, were a HUGE threat to Mirrorcle World, so this could be troublesome:

Well, that could have been a concern, but how old are the Hexagon All-Stars?

JackieRos 6th June 2010 02:16 AM

^2nd his question

are they good?

SunshineSlayer 6th June 2010 06:58 AM

^It's just a comedy team, so they aren't even really singers. They sell ok though. On another note, now Ohno Satoshi of Arashi will be releasing a solo single in July. It's going to be on 7/7 (same day as Arashi's single).

Aditmi Krisnasaki ~II~ 6th June 2010 07:07 AM

^ oh no....

hopefully ayu can still hold her record~~ :cry

oh please, there are only 3 singles left to make her the "only female artist with most consecutive number-one singles"... T.T

Ranma Matsuri 6th June 2010 07:13 AM

I'm pretty sure the record is going to be broken. I don't have any factual or statistical information to back this up just my gut instinct and lack of concern for any of her competition (no disrespect to the artists intended, of course). Something tells me this is going to be a big year for Ayu and we, the fans as well. ^^

^ Spot on.

There is more keyboard here than guitar. You can very clearly hear the synth in the chorus, Its not a rock ballad by any standards. A rock ballad to me - you would be able to clearly hear riffs throughout and it would have to be a dominant instrument. The keyboard is the dominant sound in the chorus.

This is judging from the CM version.

The guitar is in the background (hardly any Ayu songs don't have any guitar) but it only adds to the rhythm and melody.

Lol, you shouldn't get so worked up! That single is released on the same day as Arashi's. NO WAY is it going to sell as well as Arashi's single, and if even Arashi's single won't have a strong enough second week than this one surely won't.

It'd only be a problem if it were released in the same week, but it's not : P

KarenPang 6th June 2010 08:51 AM

I'm surprised no one has mentioned THE Himuro Kyosuke-san who's going to release his new solo single Bang The Beat on 14th July too

is he a threat to ayumi ? cos well he's a legend in the jrock music industry & I honestly if this might be one as the last solo single he released was 2006's Sweet Revolution / In The Nude - Even not in the mood -

I kinda doubt it though O_O''' & that goes for BREAKERZ too who I know will get whacked by ayumi on that day but it's ok they don't have any #1 streak going on x)

SunshineSlayer 6th June 2010 09:49 AM

^ He is very famous, but I don't know how well he does sales wise. He's probably not going to be a threat.

If anything, Arashi and Ohno releasing singles at the same time will probably help Ayu. Arashi's sales now will be split between two releases. The absolute worst case scenario now though is that both will beat Ayu and she will end up #3, but that's unlikely. Still though, it'll be interesting. Monster's second week i believe was 67k and Sunrise's first week was 74k and her summer single sales have been dropping with each release; but now with 4 versions, who knows?

July certainly is a packed month for releases. It's like most of the year has been boring then suddenly everything releases at the same time.

Aditmi Krisnasaki ~II~ 6th June 2010 09:59 AM

Ok yes, obviously by rock u guys think of songs like decision and is this love...well yea.
Im just referring to the sound in the chorus and the rawness of the live rip.

on another note, i think her sales will turn out fine.

Misa-chan 6th June 2010 10:13 AM

If MOON is anything, I'd classify it as pure pop. The song it comes closest to in terms of sound and intrumentation is fated. So if you think fated is rock, then MOON will be rockish to you too.

ayumisrael 6th June 2010 10:18 AM

fated was a summer rock ballad.

I think that MOON is kind of a rock ballad as well.

It has hard electric guitars and drums in it.

No one said it's metal or hard rock. =P

Misa-chan 6th June 2010 10:20 AM

^ I guess.

Though I still classify fated as pop as well. Rockish pop, true, but still a popular pop tune at its core. :)

ayumisrael 6th June 2010 10:56 AM

Yeah of course, they still are under the pop umbrella but they are pop/rock or pop tracks with rock inside of them, that's the point. :D

Of course not every song with electri guitars on earth is rock or anything, but with the level of hard guitars that are in MOON and fated for example it could be classified as pop/rock, soft rock, rock ballads. Usually rock ballads have soft guitars unless if they are hard and sad (which could be rock ballads like is this LOVE? or decision).

njanjayrp 6th June 2010 11:16 AM

^ fated's core melody is mostly guitar driven so I consider it a soft rock ballad~

It's like September 2007 all over again, just without Shimatani releasing T_T

Yumsushi 6th June 2010 01:39 PM

So she's releasing on the same day as ARASHI? Now the streak isnt imperative to me but it seems ridiculous to lose it when she's so close. 4 versions will not save her. Her only hope is AKB48-like fans to buy 800 copies of her single each, otherwise; reschedule.

ayumisrael 6th June 2010 01:41 PM

^No arashi's single is released a week before.

THIS totally agree, MOON isn't rock at all, but I don't even put fated as rock, I would rather put Together when, there are typical riff sometimes. I listen to metal from soft metal until brutal death metal, punk, rock ( the real not ayuish ), etc ... and trust me MOON is POP and nothing more !

blossom sounds pop rock and not ROCK either.

Guitars are often use to support the song, to give depth and such but guitars doesn't equal rock at all. stop to think that because there are electric guitars it's a rock song, this is false to death ! and kinda ignorant !

This discussion just goes to show how meaningless genre-labels are since EVERYBODY has their own interpretation of them.

Yeah, especially when you could barely place Ayu into a single genre as the majority of her songs don't have a strongly defined genre. And you can't just classify her as POP cuz the music she doesn't isn't really all that popular atm.
