Thoughts on crossroad preview?
 

As of above, i know its only preview but i kinda like it~

Yeah me to, i am totaly exited about this single. it is like the old ayu, what i like:) this could be really one of my favorites.

a little too early, no..not just little, but very very too early to make this thread..

but base on the preview...
i think this song need to grow on the listener, it's not type of song that you will love from the first time you hear it...

you need to give it a chance, and hear it over and over again..and you will start to love it...

It's sounds 90s and I like that ^^ Can't wait to hear the full song!

people said it sounds cheery and whatnot and some say it sounds like a song is born.
idk if I'm hearing the right preview O.o.

I really, really like it so far. It sounded kind of repetitive but I'm drawn in by her voice, I prefer her singing like that than her lower pitch.

Based on the review I can't say anything. It sounds terrible, but in that LQ, so would the best song in the world.
I think the single has great potential, considering it's part of a bigger project.

She comes back from an older time to sing this song.

it sounds like garbage is what it sounds like. The second I heard it I was like "ayumi hamasaki is dead."

I really can't judge from the preview. I like TK, so hopefully I will like the song when I hear it in full.

It sounds really sounds like the old ayu. But I'm not really liking the song :no. Maybe a longer, more HQ preview/the whole song will change my mind.

I didn't like MOON preview that much, but when I heard full version I was like "WOW! It's a masterpiece". I love this song now.

It's ok. Listened to it once and will hold out now 'til final release.

Kinda wish Ayu would make more "exciting" music. It's just too boring lately... It doesn't have that "wham!" Ayu attitude anymore.

I love it! I've always liked Tetsuya Komuro and a song is born so I'm happy she's using him again! It has such a nostalgic feel

i have to say, i'm very hopeful about the beat of the song. seems like there's a hard drum beat kind of thing. i like that.

GREAT SONG! Ayu's voice sounds like the Ayu from LoveAppears! I LOVE IT! :D

I think the best thing about it is her voice. I would like to hear how it is in the verses too however
The first time I heard it was okay. Now I repeat it cuz strangely I like the preview
With moons preview I heard it twice and thought whatever. But now I love it
Judging that I like this preview. I expect the same for the whole song

I do worry ayu is afraid to be expirimental again. Whenever she is there's just a bunch of complaints the past couple year. Like NL tracks, Sparkle, SLT, LD....with lots of lovers seems to come lots of dislikers and not much acclaim

Well Sparkle has it's own cult following here on AHS.

I'm not feeling this song at all. Her voice sounds really great, but I'm not enjoying the melody or instrumentation at all. I hope my mind changes, but unlike a lot of you guys, my opinions on the previews usually hold the same for the full song. :P

I usually like TK, so yeah, I'm looking forward to it :D I've not really been liking her songs these days, so even though he's an old composer, in a way it's kind of refreshing.

This preview totally reminds me of vintage Ayu. No surprise that it was composed by Komura as well...I love 90's J-pop :).

the melody didn't wow me from the preview. you can barely hear any instrument so I'll save judgement, as usual, for the HQ audio.

I feel that this song sounds way to old. I prefer her pop and rock songs.

I don't know how I feel about it. I know the first time I heard it I didn't like it. I guess I'll wait until I hear the full version to make any decisions though

As usual, I can't judge fairly from such a small preview. But it sounded like a long chorus... Honestly, it doesn't sound like it'll be a big hit, but that's just from the preview. It wouldn't surprise me if the full preview hits us right in the face with an enormous wow factor. =D

I thought most of the album tracks on Rock'n'Roll Circus had that wham thing going on. We're in for a ballad-y year it seems with Ayu though, so get a pillow ready.

(One Kikuchi ballad coming up... a Komuro... midtempo ballad thing? And a few other songs possibly? She mentioned making LOTS of new songs so... WHO KNOWS WHAT'S IN STORE.)

From that little bit of crossroad we could hear, I think I like it. There's something RED LINE-ish about it, with the mood of Replace? So yeah, I like it.

It was pretty poor quality, but I didn't like what I heard. Maybe with a better quality or a longer version. I really had high hopes for these 3 singles so I am pretty skeptical at this point.

I guess she is going back in time! PAST>FUTURE!

its about using the materials from the past to create something new for the future. THATS what Rock'n'Roll Circus was abt and she is still doing it.

i wonder if she'll create a song like STEP you again...youthful and catchy..i believe thhat will get attention

I actually haven't heard this song yet; the preview or anything I mean. I've always disliked listening to the mic recordings that come out a bit early so usually I listen to songs when they're PV previews or in CMs and stuff like that.

I love MOON/blossom so I think I'll be quite happy with this track also, I think she's still working hard so I'll wait a bit longer so I can be pleasantly surprised when I hear crossroad since with everyone having different thoughts and views on the song I'm really not sure what this song is like.

Don't look back has more to do with people looking back on her "old self" in the past rather than HERSELF looking back to the past (in terms of arrangers/composers/whatever.)... so, eh. I doubt she wrote Don't look back to herself since she's not really the one comparing herself to the Ayu of old all the time, though she has been doing a lot of revisiting when it comes to lives.

(See her working with Komuro, Hoshino, AND Kikuchi, all composers she hasn't worked with in AGES. Also random appearances by say, Kunio Tago are surprising. It's so awesome that she's reuniting with so many composers that she hasn't worked with and used to regularly work with. TK doesn't really count.)

If she would do another STEP you I might piss myself. I was just listening to it today and thought how amazing that style is for Ayu. Just the right amount of pop, rock, and electro. Sooooooooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooood.

^ Oh if she does that I'd be soooo thrilled!! Almost (or possibly) everything CREA has done has been extra personal and so touching; if she did at least one song on the 50th I'd be thrilled!

Well, I've pretty much said all I could say in the Crossroad thread lol but basically:

a.) has a lot of nostalgia factor sounds like YOU or any ASFXX track

b.) like it but not really single material sounding

See this is what I dont get. Working with so many different composers should technically help her achieve new sounds with her music, not recycle. She has an advantage over many that compose their own music and fall into a signature sound that makes all their songs sound similar. Ironically, looking at her CREA creations, she created unique songs and much of her rehashed songs are written by others.
She should be pushing the bounderies with these 3 singles, I think.

I actually agree with this. CREA had her own style but all her songs were very unique and diverse. I am... alone touches on so many different sounds almost as many as (miss) understood. Not one of her compositions sound recycled or the same to me. That woman's such a talent I swear 2fg. :heart

I wanna ask a kindda retarded question; How do you guys get to hear these previews before release?

One of the perks of the first press of MOON/blossom, for people living in Japan, was a code or something to get the chaku uta for the next song Ayu is going to release. This code is the prize of the first press, basically. There are a few conditions of course; one of them being you have to live in Japan so someone in Japan used their microphone to record the chaku uta for us who can't hear it; I think the clip is in the downloads section at the moment.

Why do people keep asking for step you (I understand for the 50,000 time)? Its like 5 yrs ago. Yes its like in my top 5 ayu songs but I don't want a copy of it
I'm not going to keep begging for another alterna although that's my fav. I wish for a full rock single over these pop singles like step you. But I won't get one cuz apparently those don't sell well.
it would be cool if ayu tried something new again. But I don't see it happening for this single atm
People complain anyway....as always...there's nothing wrong with wishing for that though. Its just it sounds like u guys think it will solve some problem with her music. But if its bad its bad.

This little preview of crossroads is still growing on me. Its so catchy. But her voice still really gets me. It so sounds great. ^_____^

i would definitely say that it sounded old-school. But i feel that it's not powerful enough to be part of a 3 single project haha

I don't think anyone really wants a carbon copy of their favorite song or single or whatever. I just want another cool single like that. STEP you was a hard-hitting pop track with a bit of old school mix in and is this LOVE? was a really cool rock track. The only other time she's done a single like that is Inspire c/w GAME and I love that single too so I would like to see her do again. :yes

MOON has been a little delusion for me, but since blossom it's really good hope crossroad will be even better.

I adore she decided to make a sort of renewal of her old style.

It's like copy + past Life / Replace / insert underwhelming, uninspiring mellow (aka boring) pop rock ending type song. Even Ayu herself sounds like her time would be better spent somewhere else. :(
