Music from your country?

Searched but did not find. Please forgive me if there already is a thread like this.

But anyways! When I was listening to some music last night, I kind of thought to myself "It's a shame they're danish, that most likely means nobody outside of Denmark will ever give them a listen". So, my question to you is:

Are there any artists/bands from your country that you really would like everyone else to hear? Here's your chance to give them some exposure! :)

It doesn't matter if it's a bit of a quirky genre, or that not everybody likes it -the idea is to kinda show what's to offer. I know for myself that there are artists I've stumbled across by accident, that I LOVE. That includes french music, dutch music and even some from Israel.

Here are some of my favorites from my own country :D I'm excited to hear what you all have to share!

Mew - Comforting sounds
Medina - Kun for mig
English version of above song (You and I)
Blue Foundation - Bonfires
Herfra hvor vi står (cover) - Annika Aakjær
Nephew - Police Bells and Church Sirens

I think Anggun is the best from my country, according to her wiki page, she's even the first Asian artist to breakthrough Western music industry and the first most successful one.

Quote:

In 1997, Anggun made history for being the first Asian artist to break into the international music scene by releasing her first international album Snow on the Sahara in 33 countries across the world. This album produced her biggest worldwide hit to date, "Snow on the Sahara".
and this is my favorite one

there's a French version of this song too, she's quite big in France

I'm Hispanic from El Salvador and I don't listen to music from my country
idk why I just can't find myself listening to Hispanic music.

Hmm.. there are a lot German bands I like when I hear them in the radio, but normally I forget to follow their releases later. Two bands I like are "Revolverheld" and "Kleinstadthelden". I guess you could translate the names as "Gunman/Gunhero" and "Small town heroes". Funny is that both bands are from my region :D

Here is some of their music:
Revolverheld

Kleinstadthelden

(this one makes me cry often, because it reminds me of an old friend..)

might be considered by some, but the lyrics are very meaningful. I like both bands for their funny and realistic lyrics. Sadly that won't come through to anyone who doesn't speak German..^-^"

There actually is a thread like this, but it's pretty old. I think it's OK to create a new one now.

Mew is my favorite band, I have seen them live many times. They always deliver. Perfect.

I (hate/dislike) music from my country, but there is ONE excpetion which i love. Even the guy i love lived in Denmark (thats why he havnt polish accent)

I can't really place his music (and his band) in one genre... It's mix with progressive/alternative rock, folk, pop, jazz... He's the most amazing individual person i have ever heard <3 I love his music to death

and some in english:

It's my favorite song, which is very... industrial, if you like it.

this is very "poppish", half in english, half in polish

he is very unique, he talks with audience and he is a bit crazy xD not everyone could like he's music... but i love him :D

Kazeyomi 31st July 2010 06:20 PM

I don't listen to italian music so often, but there are few good singers.
Most of them are enjoyable if you know italian language almost perfectly like Fabrizio de Andrè. His lyrics are awesome and meaningful.
But there are some whom sing in other languages :yes like Laura Pausini, she sings in english, italian and spanish. Even though I'm not a huge fan of her lol.
I highly recommended Elisa though, she's amazing! And she sings in english and italian both

English

Italian

I love threads like this, Im always wondering about every little thing about cultures.
Popular music is one of the things are interesting too. Im croatian, there is some good
popular music in Croatia, but what really represents Croatian or 'mediterranean' sound would be:

prussian I know her! My mom used to play her music a lot, and sing a long as well, which was pretty funny :D But I think she's really good. Amazing vocals.

Jackieros I kinda felt the same way a few years back. ALL that I listened to was japanese music, I didn't care at all for any western groups/singers. Idk, one day I just started liking music from where I was from.

Luja You probably get this all the time, but I love german music especially Rammstein! :) There was this female vocalist whom I used to listen to also, called Anett Louisan, I think. She made a few songs that I really, really liked. Being danish, I do understand a little bit of german, which is good because I really like the language (my mom is 100% fluent, she's from Aabenraa which is like 20km from the danish-german border). I really liked the second track! I might have to go look at the lyrics for this one, I don't want to miss out.

FuNsTyLe Hm, I hope it will be okay. I didn't find the thread, but it must be so old, that all the new members don't remember it. Oh, and Mew = <3. I totally want to go see them live, I'm waiting for them to come by in Sweden.

♥pepicolada Damn I wish I knew polish >< Anyway I liked the second track. Very quirky and kinda mindblowing! Would you be so kind, and submit some lyrics in english for that?

koshka I haven't really gotten around to listen to italian music. I am totally in love with Pavarotti's voice (RIP), sometimes when I need to kick back and relax, I listen to him and it's just so amazing. My ex is obsessed with Eros Ramazzotti though, I think he's memorized every song of his, even though he can't speak a word of italian :D Elisa sounds amazing, and the music video was really good too, both were. I like it when she sings in italian better though, but the english song was good too. Well I guess I just like italian better, haha :) Now I've listened through the entire second song, wow. Pretty amazing piece of music. I really liked it.

PoetGirl So do I! Being a complete music lover, I'm always looking for more music to listen to, and language has never been a barrier. That guy singing (Klapa, is that his name?) his voice reminded me a lot of folk music, well I guess that's what it is. The instrumentals really make me want to travel to Split! Haha. My ex was there a few years back, and when he told me about how it was, I was so envious. Very serenade-ish, and sweet.

Toniayu Sounds like he could be singing a spanish cover of a Disney song in a disnery movie. His voice sounds a lot like Stig Rossen's imo O.O he's got some amazing vocals, though the song is a bit too "pop" for my taste ^^

Nackar_91 Omg, the dutch never cease to amaze me. I LOVE ANOUK, and all of your amazing DJ's. I like Waylon's retro/vintage kind of style too <3

Ayuko I didn't know Stromae was from Belgium! They've been doing a lot of advertising for his new album on Spotify. I love Alors On Danse. And wow Axelle Red's voice is wonderful o.o This is so European pop from the 90's, I love it!

An amazing ambient track from Trentemøller which I forgot to add:

Oh, I love this thread! I'm always interested in listening to music from different countries. :) I'll surely check your recommendations!

I don't listen to Finnish music that much, but there are a few artistes I really, really love. Chisu is definitely one of them. I think she has such a beautiful and different voice and I love it. She also makes her music by herself. Here's a few songs I'd recommend:

Chisu - Sama nainen (The same woman)
Chisu - Mun koti ei oo täällä (My home isn't here)

I also really love Jenni Vartiainen. She's hugely popular in here, and for a reason! She has such a beautiful voice and great songs. I'd recommend these tracks:

Jenni Vartiainen - Ihmisten edessä (In front of people)
Jenni Vartiainen - En haluu kuolla tänä yönä (I don't want to die tonight)

And finally - Stella is a band which makes great music. Their songs are quite rock-ish, though. Here are few of my favorites.

Stella - Suden silmät (The eyes of a wolf)
Stella - Aamun kuiskaus (The whisper of the morning)

(Also, if someone wants to know the lyrics, I can try to translate them... :P)

Oh wow that's pretty cool! Actually I don't like bands as Rammstein:P
But Annett Louisan, yes, how could I forget about her! Her songs are very fresh and unique, I like her style of singing and her voice a lot:yes

For the others, here is an example:

Sry, couldn't find a more HQ one. This song is called "Drück die 1" ("press the 1") and it's about her ex-boyfriend who keeps calling and she is like "if you want to get me back press the 7", "if you want to know if I still feel something for you or what I think about you press the 0" and so on. It is a really good song.:yes

I don't really listen to a lot of music from my country(Sweden) but there are some artists from here that I really like.

Swedish music:

Kent
This is probably my most favorite band right now, they are one of Swedens most sucessful bands.
Both their music and lyrics are really good(though most lyrics are in swedish).
They have released 12 albums(10 in swedish and 2 in english).
I really recommend their music!!
(Genres: Alternative rock, indie rock, Electropop)
Dom Andra(The Others)
Ingenting(Nothing)
Dom Som Försvann(Those who disappeared)
FF(FF stands for "Franska Flickan" ("The French girl"))
Pärlor(Pearls)
Gamla Ullevi(Old Ullevi)
Vy Från Ett Luftslott(View from a Castle in the Air)
Våga Vara Rädd (Dare to be afraid)

Veronica Maggio
She's a singer who debuted in 2006 and have released 2 albums since.
I consider the music on her second album "Och vinnaren är"(eng. And the winer is) to be her best.
(Genres:Soul, pop)
Måndagsbarn (Monday child)
17 år(17 years)
Gammal Sång (Old Song)
Stopp(Stop)
Dumpa mig(Dump me)

Amanda Jenssen
A young singer who entered Swedish Idol 2007 where she finished second in the finale.
She debuted in 2008 with the single "Do you love me". Amanda has a very unique-sounding voice that fits very good with the music she's singing. Her official discography contains 2 studio albums and 5 singles (She also have a lot of unreleased stuff that can be found on the internet).
(Genres:Jazz, acoustic, rock, indie, soul)
Happyland
Amarula Tree
Borderline
Do You Love Me
Charlie
Common Henry

The Cardigans
A pop/rock group who formed in 1992 and have sold more than 10 million records worldwide.
The Cardigans have female vocalist(Nina Persson, she has a solo side project called "A Camp"),
I haven't listened all that much to them but they do have some really good songs.
(Genres: Pop rock, alternative rock)
Lovefool
My Favourite Game
Erase/Rewind
Burning Down The House(with Tom Jones)
I Need Some Fine Wine and You, You Need to Be Nicer

Robyn
A Swedish singer who mostly sings Electropop, Synthpop & R&B. She has a sweet voice and a lot of good music :D.
(Genres: Electropop, Synthpop & R&B)
HANG WITH ME
Be Mine!
Handle Me
Dancing On My Own
O Baby
Show Me Love

(Songs in bold text are strongly recommended)

This thread is really nice. It's very fun to get to listen to music from other countries that I'd never listened to otherwise :D

Well damn, you already went and recommended all the artists I was going to promote. :P We seem to have quite matching tastes when it comes to music. :D

Anyway, with Jenni, Chisu and Stella already receiving their fair share of attention, I'd like to promote yet another Finnish woman with some great music. She is Maija Vilkkumaa. Maija's songs are mostly rock and pop, with a few ballads here and there and some more experimental stuff on her fifth album, Superpallo (Superball in English :D). Like Chisu, Maija also composes and writes all her lyrics herself.

Anyway, I think I'll let her music speak for her now.

Maija Vilkkumaa - Ei (The title means 'No' in English. This song is probably Maija's most liked one, though not a personal favorite. :P)
Maija Vilkkumaa - Sut kuulen, sut nään (I hear you, I see you in English)
Maija Vilkkumaa - Ai miten valo sattuu (Oh, how the light hurts)

While writing this, another Finnish favorite of mine popped into mind: PMMP. PMMP consists of vocalists Paula Vesala and Mira Luoti, their band and composer Jori Sjöroos. The groups style is mostly pop-rock, with a couple of more punkish songs and sstuff like Taiteilia and Pariterapiaa, which are nearly impossible for me to describe with my limited knowledge about music. Also worth mentioning, Paula and Mira write all the lyrics for their songs.

And here are some songs for everyone to enjoy.

PMMP - Lautturi ('Raftman' or something in English :P)
PMMP - Pariterapiaa (Someone translated it as 'Couples counseling' and I'm gonna stick with that)
PMMP - Joku raja (Some limit in English)

Jordlols 3rd August 2010 01:43 PM

@OP

Medina is amazing. Kun For Mig and Velkommen Til Medina is an amazing album and so is the English translation album, Welcome To Medina. I'm in love with Ensom/Lonely x_x

Music from my country (Wales) includes...

Tom Jones - It's Not Unusual

Katherine Jenkins - Bring Me To Life (Evanescence cover)

Shirley Bassey - James Bond Theme Medley

Stereophonics - Dakota

Musically, Wales has quite an excellent history.

happiholic★ 4th August 2010 05:34 AM

I listen to very little music from Canada. Most of our artists are these poser bands that think they are indie and unique, but there are so many of them doing the same thing, singed to major labels. I think the only Canadian talent worth mentioning are the ones who have become popular in America, like Justin Bieber, Drake, Celine Dion. I won't add Avril because she is trash :P

Although, I do like a few that aren't recognized outside of Canada that I like are:

Stereos

Down With Webster

LIGHTS

Sarina Paris (this song is old, and she hasn't released anything in years)

David Usher

And this song was just awesome back in the day

We have tons of subgenres of what would be considered pop music over here... I will pick some of the most popular... Here we go... =)

Axé (brazilian afro-pop):
Ivete Sangalo (our "queen of pop", she will record a already sold out concert at Madison Square Garden in Semptember)

Cláudia Leitte (started as a Ivete rip-off, now she trying to find her own sound)

Sertanejo Universitário ("country" pop):
Victor & Leo (duo of brothers, pretty popular now)

Luan Santana (and he is from my city, pretty much the biggest name right now)

Brega-pop (a mix of indigenous, caribean, latin and american music):
Banda Calypso (wife and husband, HUGE)

MPB ("brazilian popular music", it's our "traditional" pop):
Marisa Monte (considered the most influent brazilian singer since the 90s, still have hits)

Vanessa da Mata (one of those influenced by Marisa)

Ana Carolina (she was bigger some time ago, but still is in the game)

Seu Jorge (Most likelly the biggest with "pop-samba" right now)

Marcelo D2 (mixes samba + hip hop + pop)

Pop (pop on a more "usual" way):
Sandy & Junior (pop duo, brother and sister, started young and lasted for almost 20 years)

Wanessa Camargo (american pop star wannabe)

Marjorie Estiano (actress/singer, not as popular as the other 2, but steady enough)

Latino (have ocasional hits, goes down, have more ocasional hits...)

Jota Quest (active for a while, have huge hits here and there)

Pop-rock:
Restart (pretty new, considered teen music)

NX0 (a little older, teen music too)

Pitty (one of the biggest acts from the last decade, still big)

Skank (active for a while, huge hits here and there)

Very interesting thread..I'll check the artists you mentioned, guys. Too bad that this thread isn't updated anymore.
I must say that I don't really like music from my country. Don't get me wrong,I grew with plenty of pop acts (solo and bands) such as Andra (pop, dance, ballad...great voice, great personality but her music is such a let down most of the times), Andreea Banica (mostly electropop, dance, house..commercial music), Delia (the same genres as the other two...not a big fan but lately she has been releasing some really good songs..she's starting to experiment with her music), Elena Gheorghe etc....And you probably heard of INNA and Alexandra Stan. INNA is ok,not really my type of music but she's having huge succes in Europe and not only..I heard that she concerted even in Japan.
These are mostly mainstream artists, as I don't really follow romanian music very much.

Here is Delia's newest single - Doar Pentru Tine (translated Only For You)
The pv is really artistic, I love it :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoDSgRfEvvg

Elena Gheorghe - Pana Dimineata (translated as 'Till Morning...reminds me of highschool period :( )
Very catchy poppy song:

We have plenty of talented artists here in Brunei, some of them (well, most of them) are solos; here's one of them ; Fakhrul Razi. He went to Hollywood to attend this year competition, and won some gold medal for his achievement. He released some singles and got a bunch of airplay.

Because of the music industry in my country is not as awesome as other country, our artists didn't get a chance to perform live/concert. they only attend some small venue and weddings.

Ask your friend why 21k people gave her a like on the video and why all most of the comments are positive ones. Oh and ask why she broke the record of the most viewed brazilian music video in 24h. ^^ He may be one of those hispsters kid that denies funk as part of brazilian culture. When Beyoncé came to Brazil she danced to funk on her stage, the crowd went crazy. A lot of people DO LOVE funk style but the social elite try to deny it, they're kind of ashamed of how this music style originated from the rio favelas have gained international status as part of brazilian culture.

Brazil is a country strongly affected by classism, and it goes all the all on all the cultural production having a "high-class" and a "low-class" take to it, even pop music. Valesca is among the lowest class artists we have around here, to the point of not having a label or anything.

She IS loved, but being someone who represents a class of people overseen as savages, criminals and worthless (yeap, this sucks), her influence is limited to funk carioca lovers and the LGBT comunity. I love her, and love this song... But I was expecting more from the video. The video was paid by herself and her manager btw, and her first on a 10+ years career.

We are going through an interesting moment on our pop music, as it is getting really varied lately because of the influence of regional sounds.

Those are some songs (and artists) from the last few years that I either love or respect (or both):

Luan Santana
genre: sertanejo universitário (country pop)
I'm not really a fan of his sound, mostly because I'm not from his target demography, but he is probably our most consistent hit-maker since Ivete Sangalo took over the 00's, and the boy knows how to put out a performance. I expect him to be around for some time.

Anitta
genre: funk-pop
She had the biggest hit from 2013, what is both good (she became top-tier overnight) and bad (it's hard to replicate a hit so big), her next release will determine if she will be around or not. I like her, she is ambitious and puts lots of effort into her work (her singing improved on a impressive pace this year, take notes Katy Perry).

Gaby Amarantos
genre: Technobrega (a mix of old ballads, caribean sounds and eletronic)
I expected her to get bigger, but she seens confortable being a mid-sized star. Some consider her to be our answer to Beyoncé (mostly because she started getting attention when she did a version of Single Ladies), others, to Gaga (because of her strage outfits, but this is part of our musical tradition on some genres). She rocks anyway.

Sandy
genre: indie-pop
From the late 90s to the mid 00s Japan had Ayu, USA had Britney, Korea had BoA, France had Lorie and Brazil had Sandy (paired with her brother), our own princess of pop. She and her brother are no long working together, and even if they don't sell the same anymore, they will never lose their top-tier recognization (really, people are so obsessed with her very private personal life that any little mention of it make the news, an interviewer implyed once she was into anal sex and it turned out being a major topic of discussion for months).

Thiaguinho
genre: Pagode (samba-pop)
We didn't have a pagode superstar for a while, and Thiaguinho slowly built a fanbase fronting a pagode band for years... Now he is a solo artist mixing some interesting influences on the genre sound. I'm not into his music (not for my taste, but he is pretty good on what he does), but he also can put out a show like few on the industry.

And just because I'm really biased, more of our reigning queen of pop, this time performing a remixed medley of her boys & girls and evolution at the Madison Square Garden:

BlackSilence 11th January 2014 01:03 AM

Music in my country sucks, 99.99% of the industry is boob-driven i'm not even speaking about male artists, but... there's this 00.01 % left that i could listen if it was on a different genre:

Jurga Seduikyte
"5th Season"

Jurga Seduikyte
"Nebijok" ("Don't be afraid"

lyrics
Spoiler:
Barefeet again
On a carpet of grass
Or maybe sliding down the dune to the sea.
With the storm, the wind made peace
The warmth is slowly being born.
It doesn't matter that it's still freezing at night
The icy land is beautiful to you.
With dawn, birds wake up, we fall asleep.

CHORUS
Me and you, we have courage at night
To listen into the speaking of darkness.
To climb the roofs and look down.
What's dear, not to be afraid to embrace.

In the day, lots of long weeks untill the Sun goes to asleep.
I'm comming running to you,
There's no more delusion in a dream.
Longing Moons in the eyes
From what the water is in flames.
Maybe it's good,
That we hadn't met yet.

This dude.... he's an awesome songwriter but his vocals...if you can call it vocals at all...
Andrius Mamontovas
"Geltona, zalia, raudona"

quick lyrics translation
Spoiler:

Those, looking at the sky
Everlasting depths of night
Searching for a sign
Longing for you

Chorus:
We - the children of yours.
Scorched fields.
You - our water and bread.
Yellow, green, red. (note: these are the colors of a national flag)

Missguided people
In their city of granges.
Waiting for mercy
They're facing you.

Chorus.....

Those - looking at the sky
Throught the windows of foreign home.
A baby in one's arms
Silently praying for you.

Chorus....
(note: i asume the song is about those who left the country because they cannot simply afford to survive here and goes abroad to earn money and surelly misses home like everyone else and would rather be here than somewhere else.)

I've had chance to see a musical where the soundrack was done by him, it was enormously good, that i ended up asking for a CD record of the whole thing since we were working on the costumes. But i didn't get it =/. here's one of the tracks:

and an ending piece:

lyrics
Spoiler:
Today rye started blooming again
There, where fields were burning yesterday
Ashes turned into land
Everything returned back to her.

To the heavens go a squad of thieves
Tomorrow, already, they will be back here.
Day dawns again and again
And night claims it again.

Hawks will turn into lambs once more.
Will go down to soar high.
And if the river dries down during drought
It will be woken up by rain over again.

This game - wings of a mill
Millstones, roads of birds.
The end will get the begining once again (literally it translates like "The end is awaited by begining" but it's basicly saying that the end will start again hence having a begining, basicly the beggining of the end lol)
Spoilts in the wheel of a carriage.

Everything that ends, returns to the beggining.
Everything that happened will repeat itself.

Daniela Herrero (argentinian singer)

(later I will update this)

Surreal17 11th January 2014 11:52 PM

leoberlin : the song is really nice, has a summerish feel (the cover is really beautiful).. reminds me of erreway...when I was little I was a big erreway fan...it was in the period when one of our tv channels broadcasted their tv series.

I know that most people know a lot of English music anyway but here's some of my personal favourites that don't get a huge amount of international exposure.

The Farmer's Daughter - Babyshambles
Babyshambles are the sort of band that sounds like they're falling apart during the verses and tighten up amazingly at the chorus. Their latest album "Sequel to the Prequel" is brilliant. :thud

Levi Stubbs' Tears - Billy Bragg
Billy Bragg is, I like to think, a national treasure. Most of his songs are politically inspired love songs. Think Woody Guthrie with an electric guitar. What I like the most about Billy Bragg is how "English" he is.

Wildest Moments - Jessie Ware
A pretty new artist, I couldn't turn off her début album.

The It-Switch - Johnny Marr
Probably best known as "the guitarist from the Smiths" he launched his solo career around 25 years after the band split up with some corking tunes. I saw him live last year a couple of times and despite the lyrics not being great the music is all that's required, really.

Timeless Melody - La's
They only released one album and what an album it was. :innocent

Bad Girls - M.I.A.
I know she's Sri Lankan, but she's lived in England so much and she's a British national, so. :eviltongu

Robin Hood - Ocean Colour Scene
An absolutely underrated band and this lovely song was a b-side! :no

That should be enough... eh.

I love Daniela Herrero! "Cada Vez" was a big hit in Chile when it came out. :)
These are some indie/electro-pop songs from my country. They're probably our only hope in terms of good music, because our mainstream music (with a few exceptions) pretty much sucks.

Javiera Mena - Espada

Alex Anwandter - Cómo puedes vivir contigo mismo?

María Magdalena - CVMC (Cada Vez Más Cerca)

Los Prisioneros - Estrechez de Corazón (w/English subs)
This song is iconic, a 90's anthem.

Here's some of Swedish singers/bands which I really enjoy to listning to ^^

Ola Svensson, born 1986, his career begun in swedish idol 2005 ended up 8th! ^^

Danny, Danny Saucedo born 1986, his career begun as well in idol 2006, he ended up 6th, he has a group with Erik Segerstedt and Mattias Andréasson.
solo Danny

and Danny with E.M.D.

Markus Fagervall, born 1982 he's career begun as well in swedish idol, won Idol 2006!

The Ark swedish glam-rock/pop band formed in 1991, and they were years active 1991-2011 ^^ one of my favorite bands. They were Melodifestivalen/Eurovision song contest 2007 with the song The Worrying kind!

YOHIO, born 1995 he's a swedish visual kei-singer, he's pretty popular in Japan, and he's very good friends with Gackt, he's a former member of the swedish band Seremedy, which disbanded in April 2013!

brener 22nd April 2014 02:22 AM

there's this rock band, Fresno, I usually don't like their stuff but I really enjoyed this song.

Kanzaki 23rd April 2014 06:30 PM

I was like: "Yesss, this topic needs to come back!" and then I realized I actually made it back in the day, hah.

If you've watched Grey's Anatomy, you've probably heard this one. Imo the best song on Quadron's new album and a whole heck lot better than watching Grey's Anatomy. Sorry not sorry.

Their old stuff is equally amazing.

Fallulah is pretty good too, somewhat along the same genre as Quadron.

Since I live in Sweden, I'll allow myself to include a gem from there too.

You probably know Loreen as the winner of the ESC about two years ago. She's got a lot more to offer than just Euphoria.

And just a final (dark horse) from Rebecca&Fiona:

Yooku 23rd April 2014 10:17 PM

Here's some from Finland that were not mentioned earlier.

Sanni is a young singer-songwriter who officially debuted last year. This is video for her first single and can be found on her album Sotke mut.

Finnish indie pop group Pariisin Kevät led by Arto Tuunela. They have released couple of albums and this song was really popular on radio stations.

Johanna Kurkela is our official fairy or at least the woman and the voice.

Olavi Uusivirta

The next ones are my personal favorites but even many Finns have no clue who they are. :rolleyes

I prefer Hanna Marsh's 2nd album but there's almost nothing on youtube. You can hear Kate Bush/Tori Amos influences in her music.

Flannelmouth is as well pretty unknown. Maybe not perfect english but I absolutely love Tuomo's voice!

Already disbanded but I must mention The Crash. They have some really catchy tunes and this music video must be one of the best ever, at least for me. Teemu (singer) is currently a member of Studio Killers.

Minä ja Ville Ahonen

Aino Venna's music is a mixture of folk, jazz, chanson and finnish elements.

Vuk is a Finnish-American musician. Her music is categorized as experimental, folk and avant-garde.

brener 2nd July 2014 03:29 AM

Sandy sold nearly 20 million albums in Brazil when she had a duo with her brother back in the 90s.

"how to cut it from the roots if it's already bloomed,
how to fake a goodbye if it is already love.." :heart

This one is also good...

I really love The Ark! Discovered them through the Eurivision Song Contest and honestly, they were the only artist I liked that evening. But then again 99% of the artists showing up there are bad or at least not really good...
But The Ark is great! I played "The Worrying Kind" in an endless loop back then... xD

I already heard of him, I'm not a big fan of his music, but I think he's cute.

There was this German Visual Kei Band, Cinema Bizarre, I really liked. They made great 80's glam pop/rock.

I like Cinema Bizarre, but I HATE Tokio Hotel. lol :laugh
What I can't stand about them is that they always said they were making their own thing and weren't inspired by Visual Kei. But it was sooo obvious. And I liked Visual Kei long before Tokio Hotel were popular and after they came out everybody asked me "Are you a fan of Tokio Hotel?" because of my style. I was soooo annoyed by it. xD
Cinema Bizarre on the contrary never denied where their inspiration came from.

Miku 30th July 2014 09:32 PM

The only think I liked with Bill (Tokio Hotel) was his hair, cause is reminds me about Miyavi's hair :3

Ugh I might be weird but I really can't stand most of the music coming from my country ('Merica) nowadays. >< Just really unoriginal melodies and lyrics spread across the most generic chord progressions possible.

NintendoHTF1242 13th July 2015 03:36 AM

I technically don't have a country, but a lot of people want to regard Laos as the Hmong country. But alas, I'm Hmong. Here is a song. It's a farewell song for people who have left our lives either in regards to death or a long goodbye.

I can't listen to mainstream pop radio. And I've been too lazy to update myself with alternative.

However. American hip hop is still everything. In fact, it's in a great place right now with good diversity and new talented artists. I've never been much for RnB and soul though lately I've been listening to Erykah Badu and what not. Probably because I'm in my feelings like every day lol

I feel like all of the hip hop that I currently am enjoying in my college days will forever be with me.
