There are many fake numbers by far.
Lately, on the last week, I didn't see any midday numbers at all... I wonder why.

TITANIC 29th September 2010 11:01 AM

really wish it will pass 200K mark for this.

Yeah we only got crossroad's first day midday number.
I guess oricon will update in about an hour or so (hopefully)..

if first day sales hit 40~45k..im really happy

MissElin_ 29th September 2010 11:18 AM

^Yeah, that would be awesome. But I'm keeping my hopes pretty low since the promotion almost didn't existed. I think Ayu's promo team never have been this lazy. She have done some great magazine shootings, but where's the billboards? Where is the tv-performances? I thought the 50th single would deliver promotion from hell... Like mindblowing one. But no.

well she'll perform for hours and hours at the 7 days concert special.. that's big promo. People buy a lot of CDs there... but I wonder if those count towards the oricon sales

truehappiness 29th September 2010 11:21 AM

It's not so much that her promotional team is lazy, it's that Ayu is busy with concert prep. I wonder if they'll do any promotion post-7 days final though?

Quote:

Sadly, only 30% of those sales count! Or 3,000 copies I think... whichever comes first? (http://biz.oricon.co.jp/information_eventsales.asp)

Sucks that you'll have to sell 3 copies for every "1" store copy, but that's how it works now.

PEARL 29th September 2010 11:23 AM

maybe the promo team are tired lol...
but still i can see lots and lots of promos for other artist when they reach a milestone...
a little disadvantage to ayu?

MissElin_ 29th September 2010 11:23 AM

Yes Ayu works alot. I haven't missed that out. But I mean Avex could put out some busses promoting the 50th single or billboards (like on 109 :heart oh i miss those times) and other stuff that Ayu herself doesn't have to do.

Didz-19 29th September 2010 11:26 AM

maybe Ayu will release another "special version" for Crossroad & L, just like MOON/blossom did...and i will be the one to buy it..since it will be limited~~:)

Elednist 29th September 2010 11:26 AM

Counting that has passed years since she haven't released any maxi single, this should hit very high, at least 60k for the first day, but with that lack of promotion is very hard to do it... It's a pity cause she had a great chance to put her sales high and reverse the dynamic of her sales since GREEN/Days.

yamadashun 29th September 2010 11:27 AM

hmmmmm so nervoussssss.

Tasked 29th September 2010 11:27 AM

then maybe it's NOT smart at all do release CDs during a tour.. I mean, they'll get money out of it, of course; but people who buy the CD there, won't buy it at the store; meaning they it will be a disadvantage to the sales.

truehappiness 29th September 2010 11:29 AM

It looks like the first day might be 35,000 or so which is lower than crossroad's first day.

bluegie 29th September 2010 11:32 AM

is it no. 1 tho?

kagami 29th September 2010 11:33 AM

I wish it would sell a lot because I really think it deserves to, but I doubt most people in Japan even know about this single.
AVEX really need to promote her a little better:no

ayumisrael 29th September 2010 11:37 AM

I don't know if it's official yet though, it might be fake.
That's why I'm waiting for oricon =P

hmm that's lower than crossroad's first day...why?! o well...hopefully there's surge in the weekends.

TITANIC 29th September 2010 12:15 PM

I wont be happy if that number is real, her multiple-A side single always sell higher than the normal single like A H &.

And the latest one was released in 2003. How is it fair in any way to hold her to those standards?

I really don't think the record companies care that much about what sales Oricon reports, it's the profits that matter. Where they get these, they don't care : P

bluegie 29th September 2010 12:22 PM

The number is official :D. Oricon has updated the chart!

ayumisrael 29th September 2010 12:23 PM

It's official.
This single deserves way more! Hopefully it will drop less =P

bluegie 29th September 2010 12:26 PM

Yeah, hopefully the drop will not be that big this time :D

PEARL 29th September 2010 12:27 PM

fair enough since it consists of more songs than normal. most artist have the same story, look at Namie Amuro (60s70s80s) and Koda Kumi (4 hot wave) for example.
L deserve higher sales than MOON/Blossom and Crossroad

Mirrorcle World ~longing future~ 29th September 2010 12:28 PM

Hehe *~congratulation to our Queen~*
-NEW RECORD-

I'm also glad for crossroad that can beat EXILE again!!

MissElin_ 29th September 2010 12:28 PM

Yeah well. Pretty much as I thought. Maybe avex would put up some energy to that promotion now. Personally, I think the 50th single deserves more promotion then A COMPLETE...

L deserve higher sales than MOON/Blossom and Crossroad

But... namie and kuu didn't have another single released a week prior to the multi-A..

Somehow I think crossroad's sales may affect L's sales, as they may not have enough money to buy more L. I mean, usually hardcore fans may buy more than one version of the single rite? If they bought all 3 crossroads last week, they may not be able to buy all L this week? Probly they can only afford 1 - 2 copies of L?

Of course this is just my speculation. There're other reasons if L is not selling as good as crossroad (not enough promotion? the songs are not as good as crossroad according to casual listeners? etc.)

And maybe L will sell better than crossroad in the end? I dunno :P

Lanz16 29th September 2010 12:36 PM

YES! #1 daily!!!!

Elednist 29th September 2010 12:39 PM

She sales are too bad U.u''''

toniayu 29th September 2010 12:52 PM

i can't believe...the sales are more bad than crossroad??i can't understand...maybe in futures days will sell more,i think...

Max_ZZZ 29th September 2010 12:52 PM

man who cares how poor the sales are, we have our record!! we cann all die in peace LOL

bluegie 29th September 2010 12:55 PM

^True LOL. I dun need to worry as much as before once she creates a new record :).

Calico 29th September 2010 12:58 PM

Well the record is for weeklies, right? Oh well, it's still great! :)

AyuGAME 29th September 2010 12:58 PM

i think it's save to say that ayu will get number one weekly...
YAY!!!

i think her 7 days tour will help the sales quiet a lot...we will see...

bluegie 29th September 2010 01:03 PM

OH... another mirrorcle boost for L? :P

@AyuGAME: Your set looks much better with ayu (especially the sad SS one) haha.

Lanz16 29th September 2010 01:05 PM

Its higher than M/b first day sales.
But who cares! I know it will sell well! ;)

sanzo2011 29th September 2010 01:07 PM

I'm ok with the sales , and the fact that she'll break Seiko record makes me happy !

I agree. I don't usually care that much but I really think this single deserves a lot more than it's getting. I really think it has the potential to appeal to a lot of casual listeners as well.
I just don't know what AVEX is thinking with their Ayu promotion. They seem to promote artist more who sell less than than her...Maybe they just don't care how much she sells :shrug

agashi 29th September 2010 01:14 PM

lol, i dont care about the sales..i care about the quality of this L single.. *__* everything so awesome in this single!

Tasked 29th September 2010 01:28 PM

It's like Avex thinks: "Ayu? Oh she'll sell good anyway. She'll be #1 without too much work from our promoteam, so let's take a day off" :p

Elednist 29th September 2010 01:41 PM

I really hope that the sales don't drop too much, and that Avex program some performance for Ayu, cause this single is amazing xDD She should sing Last Angel and make everybody run to buy the single xDD

Jwiz 29th September 2010 01:41 PM

If it stays at 30k+ for the next five days we will get our 180k sales :innocent

LastAngel 29th September 2010 01:43 PM

Congrats to Ayu! I'm sure she'll get #1. :)

Isnt she also performing on CDTV or was it something else?
Maybe that will help the sales.

by the way, i hope the tomorrow's drop won't be huge, it will be great to see 20k number

Mirrorcle Monster 29th September 2010 02:30 PM

Hope she gets her record....but with higher sales...

asmAyumi1992 29th September 2010 02:38 PM

I hope it'll sold more~

adrtwb 29th September 2010 02:56 PM

OMG !!!! i can't believe it sold less than crossroad's 1st day :no
it deserve better like 40,000++ or even more please .

Bigtop 29th September 2010 02:58 PM

Let's not get too excited here...it's only the beginning! At least Arashi might have been respecting Ayu by putting Dear Snow on October 6th...

joshohhhhh 29th September 2010 03:05 PM

i can't believe this release is so average. avex should have prepared better; hopefully they'll make it up with the next album release.

inspire_rmx 29th September 2010 03:55 PM

hoping for above 20,000copies plus sales tmr *finger-crossed*
this is an epic single. totally deserve much more =)

rakeru 29th September 2010 04:02 PM

Not a big drop from crossroad's sales, but a huge lead over the #2. Overall, success.

not bad, just mediocre considering the occasion. i think maybe we were too excited. :p

C+R+E+AYUMI 29th September 2010 05:54 PM

obviously it sold less than crossroad..in my opinion, teh promotion was too poor

Kingdom 29th September 2010 06:18 PM

crossroad deserves to sell more than L, tbh. It's a much better single... the only redeeming thing from L is the remixes of the songs from the crossroad single.

polka-dot-jewel 29th September 2010 06:27 PM

I think my expectations were a little too high as well. I was imagining higher sales because this is her 50th single, but hey... You can only get so many sales with just a bit of promotion!

Zeke. 29th September 2010 06:34 PM

Wow, lower than crossroad. But hey, I think crossroad was a much better song and beats all three from L. Every single song on L sounds like an album track - almost album filler-ish. You can't say that these three songs have the impact of STEP you, fairyland, SEASONS, etc. They don't even have the impact of the best album tracks like my name's WOMEN, Microphone, Ladies Night. Nice to listen to but Ayu can do much better. Or at least she used to be able to.

njanjayrp 29th September 2010 06:35 PM

^ That's your personal opinion. my name's WOMEN is hardly a song that should be compared to anything on L, as at least the new songs easily beat that one by far.

Nothing wrong or unexpected about those numbers. Let's just hope it doesn't drop as much as crossroad did tomorrow, though considering everything it is expected.

It's a matter of opinion and feelings...
For me Virgin Road gets close to the level of HEAVEN and Last angel is on the same level as Connected.

Zeke. 29th September 2010 06:41 PM

OMG, are you kidding me people...? Lol. Ok, I will admit it's opinions vs. opinions with Ayu but I just have to honestly admit to myself that L was a disappointment. I mean, we all fantasized about the day when she'd return with a maxi-single to continue the A/H/& trend. We fantasized about that kind of quality, that kind of epicness, that kind of effort. Then here it comes and it just doesn't live up to the hype. I think after the next album I'll take a year break from Ayu. :(

I would like Last Angel more if the synths were more "in your face" (as they are in Connected). You can barely hear them. I want more power.

kalikagai 29th September 2010 06:44 PM

^ Nope, there's no "we all" =)

I think we've got exactly what we've been looking for. It's just that you can't expect to like everything right away, as ballads aren't supposed to be catchy like Trauma or ourselves ^^ especially when you don't understand the language they're in. Both Virgin Road and Sweet Season took a few days for me to like and they might not be her best ballads, but they are really good songs. Last angel's still my fave out of the 3 though. It might be the best for you to switch to someone else then, as Ayu's pretty much done with adjusting to what the people want :P Now we simply have to adjust to what she thinks is good :innocent

I personally was very serious :P
For me it lived the hype with a bang.

I love Last angel how it is since the melody is really pretty and I don't think that it's lacks something just because it's a laid back trance.
I can understand though people that wanted it to be "all out".
I love it as it is since it's really pretty.
I wouldn't really care where these songs would be but together they make a very solid single, for me.

Well I just miss the ballads that grabbed me from the start, such as Moments, walking proud, JEWEL, perhaps even rainy day.

I always feared the day a new "up-and-coming" J-popstar would take the center-of-attention but I'm pretty much ready for that now.

At the end of the day, nobody can match the "Ayu-factor" or the impact with her music that she used to have (more frequently than she does now). Ayu is just my favorite artist ever. She has it all and I want her to be the one to provide me with good music but I can't fool myself into thinking that everything is ok when it's not.

But if it's like that for you now so just keep listening to the things of ayu you like and if you like something new from time to time then great.
=)

greenteadrinker 29th September 2010 07:07 PM

She released two singles in a row, it's expected. Only die-hard Ayu fans would buy more than one version of each or even buy both singles, esp since they are so costly. Casual listeners wld choose between the two or just go for the download.

I've been a fan since YOU came out but L will be the first single I've bought since Bold & Delicious. Simply because I couldn't afford it anymore.

When it comes to ayu sales. People saying crossroad sold more because it was a better song make me wonder more about it...
I honestly do not think the actually quality of the songs are what's affecting her sales here. crossroad was just released a week ago. Had much more promotion (including lives) while L has very little, etc....
I'm happy she's number 1... But I don't like these sales too much. But being realistic I really can't be upset.
There are just more factors to the sales of ayus releases than pure song quality imo :)

*sigh* @all.night.raver : when u use terms like "we" and say things like "you can't say this is as impacting as this" its kind of ridiculous I must say...You do not determine whether something is more impacting than another for anyone else. Didn't u ever learn in science or a sort of social studies course that people do not think alike. We are all known as "different". If u don't like ayus quality of music then you don't like it. But if someone else does they are not crazy for thinking so.
I can say that u mentioning Ladies Night as one of her best album tracks is something I wholeheartedly disagree with. But I'm not going to tell you that you can't think that way as its natural
Have fun finding another jpop artists. U are certainly not the first and unfornately not the last. Staying in such a somber state about ayu does no good imo.

brener 29th September 2010 07:43 PM

I hope it doesnt have such a big drop tomorrow... I hope for at least 20k!!

Maybe u should just live ur life a little more and get out of the "ayu fandom bubble"... maybe nobody told u that, but she is not releasing music to please you... What is natural considering she doesn't even know u exist ^^

I agree with this in all honesty but I still wanted the 50th to trump the previous singles' sales like crossroad did... oh well. Not like we didn't already know before but she's pretty much got the record now so I'm good. Just hope the drops aren't big and they can keep steady, she can still beat crossroad's sales just have to wait and see. :P

i agree with you. i think the "we" thing was kind of weird. "we" don't all think the same way. there are very few people i've seen that were actually disappointed in this single, so him acting like "we all" are disappointed in it and it didn't live up to the hype was even more weird lol.

Zeke. 29th September 2010 08:53 PM

By 'we' I meant everyone on AHS obsessing over another "single-lettered" maxi-single for the longest time, not that 'we' do not like this single...
:thud

Lol.

I agree with you too, I wanted L to do really well. I liked the preview of Virgin Road, and the full song is honestly just good at best for me. Sweet Season is very fillerish, and Last angel is different but I like it.

I'm not disappointed with this single because it's not like all the songs are flat out horrible. I too just had my hopes high, especially after following crossroad, that I would be blown away. Instead, I'm sitting here listening to crossroad on repeat and pretty much ignoring L even came out.

Lol.

oh okay :P thanks for clearing that up.
for the sales, i was actually really pleased with them because i expected a lot lower since she just released crossroad last week. i was guessing it'd be like 25k first day.

Ranma Matsuri 29th September 2010 09:21 PM

Glad that was cleared up lol, keep it civil guys. :P

Yeah, I pretty much feel the exact same way on all those things lol. There's a reasonable chance VR and SS may grow on me more but for right now, the crossroad single has most (if not all) of my attention.

shineestar 29th September 2010 09:55 PM

I wish they had promoted the single more~ but anyway im glad it still got #1. I really like the songs on the single, and i just had to buy it cause well its her 50th single. (: With that said, i will just enjoy this single and be happy. Hopefully the songs will be loved soon by those who arent feeling them :3

AyumiAi 29th September 2010 10:35 PM

Its sad how L didnt get any tv perfromances.... :( i really would have loved to see it live, but then again Ayu is preparing for her 7 day tour, which will be amazing :)
and that in itself will not only help L sales, but it will help have more stable L sales for its second week as well IMO.
I think in general what happened is Ayu management team took a bigger bite than they could chew. Having the singles one week after another was hard enough, but having a 7 day tour the same week as the second single comes out, resulted in them not being able to fully focus on one of the singles, like if perhaps L was coming out next month, then all their attention and advertising would be focused on Crossroad and then L would also get full attention in its own respective month.
I still kinda dont see the connection the three singles had, that we were promised, but honestly im just enjoying the beautiful music, and VR amazing PV
:)

bluegie 29th September 2010 11:27 PM

Well from the beginning I've already predicted L's sales would not be a rocket sky one, since the multi-A hype mostly grabs hardcore fans' attention, not causal listener. Of course I hope that it will have more than 90K on the first week, but if the sales is between 65 - 75K, I think it's quite good as well.

no no nothing wrong with you previous set. I just didn't who that girl was (now I know she is called ICONIO :P).

Just stop listening to her... please. You haven't really liked her stuff for a while so get over it lol.

Maybe the promotion is on a budget, and/or maybe Avex is trying to put their guts when they're in a "conservative" mode right now...

fair enough since it consists of more songs than normal. most artist have the same story, look at Namie Amuro (60s70s80s) and Koda Kumi (4 hot wave) for example.
L deserve higher sales than MOON/Blossom and Crossroad
Yep, i'm thinking that too, but for a single project, the sales are great, not a lot of fans can buy 2 singles in two weeks (well, the hardcore fans could buy all the versions, but they are not rich).
And well, all the promo was for crossroad, and not for L. Probably ayu needs put more male singers in her PVs for better sales then.
I hope good sales tomorrow!!!!!

This~ :o.

Let's see (in proper ranking):

NEXT LEVEL:
:luv2 = Days, Sparkle (Pieces of Seven, Bridge to the Sky, Load of the SHUGYO)
:yes = EnergiZe, identity, RULE, GREEN

Rock'n'Roll Circus:
:luv2 = Microphone, Sunrise
:yes = RED LINE, BALLAD, Last Links, count down

2010:
:luv2 = blossom
:yes = crossroad, Last Angel, Sweet Season

It's not that I dislike Ayu, it's just that there are not as many "OMG I LOVE THIS TRACK - AYU YOU ARE THE BOMB, YOU MAKE ME FEEL SO ALIVE! THANK YOU!" tracks compared to ealier times. A lot of the recent stuff are growers for me. For me it used to be love, after love, after love.

Max_ZZZ 30th September 2010 03:03 AM

^ honestly LOL if you makes you feel better i think you make perfectly legitimate points
what you say is probably why some of the japanese public isn't gogogaga for her now

i sometimes think it too- if her songs aren't all as classic as JEWEL and whatnot would i just sort of fall back from my fandom? well i wouldn't now cause MOON was the bomb diggty and i can't waaait for the album

it's wierd to think but her single will most likely keep decreasing until she sells like seiko matsuda and becomes just a veteren of the music industry
sigh a sad thought

but i liked the singles =] wish L had sold more, but at least after this single if her sales drop like mad she'll leave the scene with one hefty record!
