It's sad that a few people can steal all of your hard work. Crediting takes very little effort but can make the translator feel appreciated (though not half as much as they deserve! Especially your quick, up to date translations) I have bookmarked your blog! You have helped me to learn and understand so much more about Ayu through your translations and her blogs in themselves sometimes just keep me going. I hope you can catch the people stealing your bandwidth and keep going with your amazing work in some form.

Hmm. Well. I guess I have this to say.

You're a wonderful translator, and your hard work never goes unnoticed here. Everyone relies on you to translate and post Ayu's thoughts here so they can feel connected with her. You truly have been a go-between for us English speakers and Ayu, when otherwise we'd have to be outsiders. I realize that you're not the only translator in the world, and it's not squarely on your shoulders, but you're the best we have really. It'd be a shame to see you go, not just because you're a loyal member, but because it's also a significant 'unplugging' of our world from Ayu's.

I myself would take up the job if only I could read kanji. It's such an overbearing part of the language and I always hesitate to truly learn it. I wish I knew your secret to being able to so fluently go from one language to the next when it seems so tough to me... but it's most likely sheer talent and something that I'd probably never be able to do anyway. If only Japanese was kana-only, I would gladly translate but alas...

Also, you're one of few TA members here on AHS. It's very uncommon to manage that, and most of us can't do it because of money and well, not living in Japan nor being able to read Japanese. Even if I did translate, I'm not a TA member and therefore would be of little help in the area where AHS members are the most interested.

I'm not trying to pressure you into staying, really. I'm just very disappointed that the negative actions of a few overruled the positive actions of many, and as a result we lost a vital link to Ayu's fanbase.

Because as you know, Google translate just sucks.

I have to confess that my second language is Mandarin/Chinese, so I've more or less grown up reading nothing but kanji. Helps tons with my Japanese class. :)

Thing is, yes, I have been bothered by people taking my translations and hotlinking from my account without credit. I've actually figured a solution out for that one: just uploading images twice, once to imageshack for AHS use, and once to my photobucket account for my own blog. It's solved the problem for stealing, as imageshack images are not my concern. Besides, as you said, if people are really intent on stealing, it doesn't matter whether I post something on the blog or AHS.

The main issue that made me decide to let go at AHS is seeing some members dissing my translations. I feel terribly insulted as a translator who has spent time and effort translating for people, only to have them say things like "why are we stuck with Misa-chan translating?" and "I liked _____'s translations better, let's create a movement to get him/her back!!". If you don't like me personally or the way I go about things sometimes, fine, just let me know and I'll try to change if I can. But dissing my work... What am I supposed to do about that? Improve my Japanese?? Ask ayu to write in a cuter way so my translations won't sound boring??? :shrug

The only thing I can say is, alright, you don't like my work, I'll move it somewhere else, which is what I've done. That way, you don't have to see what you don't want to see, I don't have to see you dissing me, and people who still want to read the translations still have somewhere to go. Everybody's happy. :P

It will cut down a little, because entries on the blog are protected, and I choose who to give the password to. If I give the password to someone who has stolen, it'll be because I have lousy people-reading skills then, and I'll have to change the password or something...

People actually said things like that!? Pfft I bet those people don't even know Japanese, so they can't even judge in the first place. Some people really underestimate the time translating takes. And they should remember that you're doing us a favor, it's not like you're getting paid for this.

But anyway, I respect your decision. I'm grateful you'll continue to post translations on your blog. (Personally I can read Japanese, but I don't have a TA account so... XD)

For everyone's information, the comments come from my Facebook. It was MY status update, in response to the last incident surrounding these translations, which seems to be forever ongoing. I'm not going to name the names of the people who responded to it, because, frankly, it's none of your guys' business what me or my friends say, about any of you, on our own private time, amongst ourselves.


I'm really sorry you feel badly about this Misa, but I wish that maybe you couldn't take it so hard.

One, I was in a really bad mood that day, and I actually was going to reply to your thread here, but I thought better of it, especially considering that I had already commented once before on this issue.

The second thing is that, you know, this is MY page at facebook, and these are MY close friends from AHS, and we have a way of speaking to each other that, maybe the rest of you don't really understand because, well, you aren't apart of the group, right? So maybe, just maybe, there are some things that...you shouldn't take so seriously.

I don't want you to feel, like we don't appreciate what you do, because I know for a fact, that we all do, and I feel comfortable speaking for all of my friends that way. I have always thanked you and been grateful for what you have contributed to this forum, and it has also, always been my sincere wish, that you not go away, because, the only people who suffer, are the members of AHS.

In addition, I would also hope that maybe you would understand that, you should stand by what you post, and what you want to do. If you want to post your translations here, then omg, POST THEM, and to hell with what we think. If we don't like your translations, then we won't go into your threads :shrug

And just for the record, no one actually said they didn't like your translations or that they were bad. And the other translator in question, is a friend of ours. We don't even know you...of course we like her and praise her lol um hello, we're all close friends.

I still, I mean, again, I am really sorry that you feel hurt by this, but I won't completely apologize for posting my views on this issue, on a place that is mine. I still feel the same way. I believe ranting about these thieves, and letting them make you upset, is ridiculous, and especially when you weren't doing everything possible to protect yourself, and your private account. That is all on you. And since you also said, that you believed that writing something at the beginning was fine with you, I didn't post anything, because, you are perfectly entitled to write whatever you want when you want to...and honestly, because it's not that big a deal to me.

But whatever, you're taking the steps you believe are appropriate for you, and that's fine, whatever you think is right, you should do, and we all have to respect your wishes.

Just know that no, everyone is not happy, because there seem to be a lot of very sad members in this thread right now not excluding yourself, and I just feel sorry for all of you.

I think that all of the people in here that love you, are worth more than...5 or 6 people that were just making small talk one day, and maybe even, the few people who are "stealing" from you.

Sorry for the really long post, but, that's how I feel. And I'm sorry again, that you were hurt. It was not anyone's intention, I believe.

That's so pathetic, that after many warnings and requests not to re-post YOUR work, people still do so, and their friends protect them while they do it. It's wrong and they should be ashamed of themselves, as should their friends. I think AHS won't be the same without your dedicated efforts and swift posts, Misa! Anyway. Thanks for all your hard work, I'm sorry it didn't work out for the better. I really don't see what's so bad about your translation, I mean... translating is translating, how many different words and way can you translate something to make so that people dislike it? Sounds silly to me...

@emiko: OK, I never expected you to be the person who said that. Seriously. You are someone whom I honestly respect on AHS, and knowing that it was you saying those things just made everything worse.

If you are going to single a person out and bit-ch about him/her, I believe there is no excuse saying things like "I didn't know you will be so hurt by it". Flinging insults in general doesn't do much hurt, but when you attach an identity, it's a different story. Imagine me updating a status with "why is it that idiots always post on AHS?" vs "did you see emiko's post on AHS? what an idiot!!!" You may not feel insulted, but assuming that I will react in the same way is just silly. I'm not being a prude about this, but it does hurt to see people write the things which your friends wrote about me, even in jest/inside jokes/whatever.

And believe me, I have made every single effort to protect myself and my translations. You will not believe the number of sites I've actually searched out and contacted personally to make sure they credit. The reason why I posted the particular rant recently was because my photobucket account registered a blogspot site hotlinking my photos, and I have made every effort to search it out but have not succeeded even after a week of trying. So posting that rant was the only way I had left to try to stop them. Seeing that one rant and accusing me of doing nothing but complain is seriously unfair. Just because I don't advertise my efforts doesn't mean I don't put in any.

Oh well, I have made a decision already, and I'm standing by it. I may bring joy to AHS-ers with translations, but if what I get back is just thieves and being the butt of some group of friend's rants whenever they're in a bad mood, then I really don't see the point of putting myself in this position any longer.

And just for the record also, thieves aside, you and your friends' careless "jokes" have resulted in all this drama. I know you will say it's none of my business what you say in private to your friends, but at least know that things always have a way of getting out and hurting people.

ps: deleting people off Facebook just because some of them are actually my friends who cared because they saw me being called stupid by a bunch of people who do not even know me is just, well, silly. Please do not do that, they have done nothing wrong.

Misa-chan, as much as I love and appreciate all of the hard work you've put into translating the TA blog for us, I respect your decision and feel that you are doing the right thing not to post them here anymore. What stupid people honestly~ Just taking advantage of someones good nature and doing something like that! I mean honestly! Grow up and learn to live with each other peacefully! You all go and say "aww how sweet" when Ayu talks about peace, and love, and kindness and all this and yet a bunch of you don't even think to practice any of it. Honestly, Misa-chan has been so sweet to do all this for us and then treating her like that is really disgusting.

I see myself coming on here less and less bit by bit; and I think more so now. I'm sorry Misa darling, you're hurt, and I am really sorry about that. But I still stand by my right to say whatever I want, whenever I want, especially in the presence of people who are close to me.

About your efforts, I never said you didn't put in any, but I did say you didn't do everything, which you didn't, considering, people were still stealing from you, and there were still options you could have taken to protect yourself. You seem to be upset about this all the time, and that to me, is part of why, maybe you need to just be a little more realistic. AHS is the most popular Ayu forum on the net.

And it is not one rant. You have been talking about this issue for a very long time. This is just the most recent one.

In any case, it doesn't really matter about that to me, because, it's not really the point. I have so much love and respect for you Misa, and as I said before, everything you've done here. There is so much that we wouldn't have, if you hadn't been here.

But I'm sorry, this was just one of those times where, I had something on my mind, and I wrote it down, and it probably came off a lot harsher than I felt, but whatever.

I would have felt a lot better if, maybe, your friends had come to me first, or if we all could have talked about it in a different way, and if they still wanted to tell you then whatever. Like I said, these are me and my close friends talking together, our conversations have qualities that, I'm sorry, but, may not always be the nicest.

I apologize for hurting you, and believe me, I always know that things have a way of getting out, but I think, this is the real world, and sometimes, you just have to, suck it up, and say "I'm not going to let those people get the best of me because they said a few things today."

I still have a tremendous amount of love and respect for you, though you probably don't feel so great about me anymore, but honestly, this is who I am, and I'd much rather be hated for that, than be loved for something I'm not.

In any case, I am still sad to see you go from AHS, but I hope that all of the people here will still be able to get your services on your private blog, and that it's up and running soon. And I wish you all the best with it.

And about deleting your friends...I just went through my friends list, and deleted people that, I didn't know as closely. Basically, if I didn't remember their names as soon as I saw them, they went.

It's no offense to your friends, please, but, I'm sort of a private person, and if these people are there, and they don't have a problem with publicizing the things I say or what I post there (especially without consulting me first)....then I have a problem with them. As I said, my facebook is my private place for me and my friends, but mostly for me.

I deleted about 30 AHS members off of my page, I don't know which ones are your friends or not, so, if they got deleted and now they're hurt, I'm sorry, but I think, I'll no longer be adding random people from here I don't know.

If you go to the trash can and look for one of the twitter threads, you'll find the reason in there. :innocent

You know.. its funny how certain people feel the need to speak there mind and its okay, but when others do it, all **** breaks lose...
