Anyway, I liked the video, although I don't think it was a music video as much as a mini-movie...I think it showcased the celebrity appearences more than the song itself :laugh But the album has been released a while now, and Katy doesn't really need to advertise much to sell I guess.

time for a new single/era...

NintendoHTF1242 18th July 2011 12:47 AM

I'm actually looking forward to her new era. I wonder what it's gonna sound like.

TITANIC 18th July 2011 04:37 AM

I dont think there will be a new album next year because her California Dream tour still going on until november.

cyyong29 18th July 2011 06:27 AM

Even though I like her first album One Of The Boys more than Teenage Dream, but I'm really impressed with TD-era music videos [uhm, except TD video, I don't like it].
Her "Kathy Beth Terry" alter ego is so adorable! :D

CHE.R.RY 18th July 2011 08:14 AM

^ I actually thought her music improved considerably with TD...I was really disappointed in One of the Boys..I only liked the singles basically :(. I really like a good majority of the songs on TD.

George 18th July 2011 09:50 AM

I've always ignored the album tracks on One of the Boys but after a year of listening to Teenage Dream, I decided to listen to them again and I fell in love with I'm Still Breathing and Lost actually with most of them if not all.

TITANIC 18th July 2011 03:26 PM

Teenage Dream is a solid album. every track have a strong feeling not like OOTB. for me TD is the best album ever

Oh YES! Both are my most favourite album tracks, especially Lost!
As for single I LOVE Thinking Of You. A LOT. :love

I think the singles from TD is basically the highlights of the album.
While OOTB has many great album tracks. Just my opinion :D

NintendoHTF1242 18th July 2011 04:49 PM

I'm Still Breathing is so beautiful! Although I hate her phrasing in the song.

TITANIC 19th July 2011 01:00 AM

I've got the update of the sales :

Firework : 4,658,000
E.T. : 4,266,000 (it was #1 best selling single 2011 until dethroned by Rolling In The Deep)
Last Friday Night : 1,260,000

AyUta 20th July 2011 04:25 PM

she's coming to san jose in august, right after my brithday...and i felt like asking for tickets as a gift but...i don't really know yet. it's a maybe.

rookies 21st July 2011 03:29 AM

I made a thread in the Entertainment forum on the MTV VMA 2011, so maybe some of you guys might want to check it out.

Anyways, MTV News is going to Katy's Seattle show tonight (11 pm ET), and she will help announce the VMA nominations from there! Isn't that exciting? I just found it quite interesting. Not your usual or typical way of announcing nominations, lol.

CHE.R.RY 25th July 2011 03:04 AM

I kind of would like to see her in concert...but then again I don't really like the way she sings live. It sounds like she tries really hard & overdoes it :(. I just saw her perform live on Saturday Night Live last night & didn't care much for them :no.

& Wow...she is doing amazing in sales :thud

TITANIC 25th July 2011 03:27 AM

^ i saw her live from california dreams tour when she came to Sydney. her voice truly amazing. I just could not really hear her voice during Firework because the audience sang louder than her. really amuse me and she was sooo funny so basicly her interaction with audience was fun. you should go. i would go to see her again if she performed the 2nd show in Sydney

CHE.R.RY 25th July 2011 04:07 AM

^ Well that's good to know from a person who has seen her live...I mean maybe she's like Ayu in the sense that she does bad TV performances but is amazing in her tours :laugh.

TITANIC 27th July 2011 01:10 PM

^ yeah maybe but I never watch Ayu Live so cant really tell

9 Nominations at VMA 2011 for Katy

With four different videos garnering a total of nine nominations, Katy Perry leads the field for the 28th edition of the MTV Video Music Awards. Among the nods, Perry, who dropped in on MTV to help announce this year's contenders, finds her explosive clip "Firework" in the running for Video of the Year and Best Female Video, her comical "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" vying for Best Pop Video, her gorgeous "Teenage Dream" battling for Best Cinematography her and her futuristic "E.T." up for Best Special Effects and Best Collaboration.

On her heels are Adele and Kanye West with seven nods each, followed by Bruno Mars with four and Beyonce', Eminem, Lady Gaga, 30 Seconds to Mars and Nicki Minaj with three apiece. First-time VMA nominees Foster the People, Manchester Orchestra and Tyler, the Creator have two nods each, as do longtime favorites Britney Spears, the Beastie Boys, Chris Brown, Pitbull and Lil Wayne.

Adele's nominations are all for her "Rolling in the Deep" (the most nods earned by a single video this year), while West's are spread out over three songs: "All of the Lights" feat. Rihanna & Kid Cudi (Male Video, Hip-Hop Video and Collaboration), Perry's "E.T." (Collaboration), and his own "Power" (Art Direction). Three of Bruno Mars' nominations are for "Grenade" while his hit "The Lazy Song" is contending for the Best Choreography Moonman.

Competition for Video of the Year pits three massive pop hits - Perry's "Firework," Mars' "Grenade" and Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" - against two hip-hop heavies -- Tyler, The Creator's "Yonkers" and the Beastie Boys' "Make Some Noise."

The Best New Artist category is decidedly rap-leaning, with Wiz Khalifa ("Black and Yellow"), Tyler, The Creator ("Yonkers"), Big Sean ("My Last" featuring Chris Brown) and Internet phenomenon Kreayshawn ("Gucci Gucci") going up against L.A. indie rockers Foster The People ("Pumped Up Kicks").

Lady Gaga, who won eight awards last year (though is best remembered for accepting her Video of the Year trophy in a dress made of meat) is up for Female Video ("Born This Way") and Choreography ("Judas") and Art Direction ("Judas"). Meanwhile, pop princess Britney Spears finds her apocalyptic "Till the World End" facing off in the Best Pop and Best Coreography categories.

Other 2010 winners hoping to make a repeat performance are Eminem (Male Video, Direction, Cinematography), 30 Seconds to Mars (Direction, Cinematography, Editing) and the Black Keys (Rock Video).

TITANIC 29th July 2011 04:49 AM

yeah her black hair is much much better.

I believe Last Friday Night will reach #1 on hot 100 very soon either next week or after VMA 2011

rookies 29th July 2011 06:55 AM

^ The gap between LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem and Last Friday Night is really big right now. I dunno if she can overtake them for the #1 spot next week or not.

She needs promo, like a remix version out on itunes, or even a TV performance to help boost it to #1.

NintendoHTF1242 29th July 2011 06:58 AM

Oh goodness I dislike Party Rock Anthem...It's so overplayed.

TITANIC 29th July 2011 03:38 PM

I think she will perform the song in VMA 2011 and yeah the gap is quite far, 45K. The song has done very good without promotion except she sings that song in her California Dreams Tour.

I think she looks good blonde, but I think I prefer her with darker hair.

After the initial shock of seeing her blonde, it's alright. Don't like the platinum shade near her scalp; much prefer the colour towards the ends.

Katy mentioned on a MTV News Interview (July 20th, when she was announcing the MTV Nominations) that the Teenage Dream era is not over yet, and that it will continue.

She said in the interview: "It's not over yet (the Teenage Dream era). You think you know, but you have no idea. Dun Dun Dun."

I agree with E.T. Not only was his rapping totally out of place and ruined a really good song, the lyrics were like ":rolleyes". I actually do like rap music sometimes but it has to be done right.

xLitax 5th August 2011 09:50 PM

^ I know! His rap lyrics didn't even have anything to do with what she was singing. But seriously, Kanye ruins everything.
